Hello, readers, and welcome to my Weekly Review. It was a good week. It was filled with a day off, lots of play time, our anniversary, and more! This review will also end on Saturday instead of Sunday (I’ll explain in next week’s review!).
Monday was a holiday here in the U.S.A. so I had the day off from work. I woke up at my normal time and I was able to spend some time alone while eating my breakfast. I read a little bit of my current book before Mr. O woke up. “Peter! Peter!….Daddy!!!”, he yelled from his room. When I didn’t respond (because I was grabbing him a bottle of milk) he “whistled” at me. His whistling is actually just him yelling, except his fingers are in his mouth. He doesn’t actually know how to whistle yet, lol. Pray for us when he does!
After I got him ready for the day we went back downstairs. We set up his toys to have a huge battle. It was the Avengers, Justice League, and Paw Patrol versus the Avengers villains, a knight, some dinosaurs, and a Paw Patrol villain. The battle was long and bloody, but eventually it ended and the good guys won. When we were bored with the action figures, I turned on the PlayStation to show him this Spiderman game I had. It is Spiderman: Miles Morales (in Mr. O’s Spidey show they call him “Spin”).
Mr. O loves the game and we’ve played it many times since. He loves swinging around the city and eventually jumping in the water, lol. He also loves giving me the controller back to fight bad guys. Around noon we went to pick up my grandma and we were heading to my mom’s house. We were getting together for the holiday and grilling some food. When we got there I took over the grill for a bit so my mom could do other things. Mr. O was digging in the rocks while Sparty (my mom’s dog), Lea and my grandma watched him.
The food turned out good, and so did the sides. We ate and talked and played with Mr. O. Before we knew it, it was time to go. We packed up Mr. O and all of our things (mostly leftovers) and headed to Target. When we finally returned home, I helped Mr. O build his train track. Then I had two fantasy football drafts back-to-back. I know nobody cares about someone else’s fantasy football team, but let us not forget…this is my blog! I’m just kidding, I won’t bore you with that. All I will say is this: ESPN stinks! They gave my drafts horrible grades when in reality they were not bad at all.
To end my day off and the beginning of the week, Lea and I watched the Surviving Barstool finale. It was a good season!
Tuesday was our 8 year anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been 8 years since Lea and I got married. It doesn’t feel like that long ago. To my wife: I love you so much and I love the life we’ve built together! You’re my best friend and the best mother to Mr. O. To put it simply…You’re the best! Since we’re going on a trip soon we didn’t plan anything to celebrate on our actual anniversary. Instead, I bought Lea a sweet card and I filled it with art (that I drew myself). She loved it.
Now, let’s start from the beginning on Tuesday. Once again I was up before the rest of my family. I had time to read and sit in the silence of my home before I heard that cute little voice yell my name. Throughout the day, as I was working, I thought to myself, “I’m so blessed to be able to work from home. I can leave my office for a minute and go give Mr. O hugs and kisses whenever I want during the day.” Can you guess what I did next? Lol.
In the evening I made my family dinner and had another fantasy football draft (this espn grade was much better). My throat was starting to bother me so I took a little bit of NyQuil and went to bed early.
On Wednesday morning, after we got Mr. O up and ready for school, my boy and I sat at the counter side-by-side and ate our breakfast. That was the first time we’ve done that and it made me wonder why we’ve never done that before. Soon after we finished eating, it was time for the little man to go learn. Lea dropped him off on her way to work and I walked into my office and started my work day.
In the evening Mr. O and Lea came home. He had another great day! He got more stickers for his excellent work of tracing circles and matching pictures. I went to the dry cleaners soon after they arrived. I was told my clothes would be ready, but sadly, they were not. So I came home empty handed. Lea was off to one of her mom’s group meetings, so she left me and my boy to fend for ourselves. We survived! I made us dinner and then we played until it was time for bed. After Mr. O went to sleep I did the dishes and ended my night laying on the couch, scrolling on my phone, and watching whatever game was on that night (I don’t remember).
In the evening on Thursday I made dinner with Mr. O. We blasted my “Oldies” playlist, which is filled with Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and others, and made chicken and rice. Mr. O gets a kick out of my onion goggles. He thinks they look so goofy but then wants to wear them once I’m done using them. When dinner was done we ate, played, and Lea came home from wherever she was. It was a chill night.
Speaking of chill, Friday morning was perfectly chilly. It truly felt like a September fall day. It was quickly ruined a few hours later when the temperature went up to 80 degrees, but at least the morning was nice. I had the windows open and aired out the house. On my lunch break I went for a walk around the neighborhood. Typically, I can clear my head on these walks, but for some reason my head was so full this time. It wasn’t a relaxing walk but at least the weather was nice. When I got back to my house I still had time to spare, so I sat on my porch and rocked in the chair for a few minutes before going back to work.
In the evening, Mr. O and I cut the grass and played outside. Then we cleaned ourselves up, ate dinner, and he went to bed. I finished the day by watching the Supergirl movie, which is now on HBO! It’s such a fun movie. I really enjoy it. If you haven’t seen it, give it a shot.
On Saturday I slept in, which is kind of unusual for me. It felt good though! I did my normal routine, because my family wasn’t up yet, lol. Soon after breakfast, I heard him say: “DAAAADDYYYY!” I took him his yogurt and vitamins. When I walked into his room I said, “Hello, master. I brought you gifts.” I handed him his yogurt and vitamins and then he looks at me and says, “Where are my gifts?”. He didn’t understand the joke, nor did he think it was funny. As we were getting dressed and brushing our teeth, we watched the Barstool College Game Day show on YouTube. Then Mr. O and I went to meet my mom at the bank. When we left there, Mr. O and I went to the bookstore across the street. I was looking for a comic to read and I ended up finding a Superman/Batman one so I am excited to start it. Mr. O ended up getting two new trucks (I know, I know. He has enough trucks, but this was different! He really wanted them). After the bookstore we walked into Petco. Mr. O loves looking at the birds, fish, turtles, etc. On our way home we stopped at the dry cleaners again and picked up all of our clothes.
Currently, we are watching college football, Mr. O is sleeping on the couch, and I am finishing up this post. It was a good week!
A Moment I’m Still Thinking About
I just loved spending half the day with my boy today. We had so much fun together. Seeing him be interested in so many things makes me so happy, and hearing him say, “Hey, Daddy, look at this” and then explain what it is to me is great. He’s the best.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s review. You should subscribe!
