Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

I was up bright and early on Monday morning—awake before anyone else in the house (including the cats!). I had spare time, so I decided to do the dishes. I always enjoy doing them in the morning before work. I’m not sure why, it just feels nice to accomplish something right away. Okay, I do know why. That’s my reason, lol. Before I knew it, my “peace-and-quiet time” was over. Mr. O was up and ready to go!
The work day flew by (thankfully), and when it was over, I decided I was tired of the string on my trimmer. So, I decided to do some research, and I ordered an attachment that had blades on the end instead of string. Little did I know that “universal” didn’t actually mean that. How embarrassing! It’s okay though, I will eventually buy the other half, and then I can start using the blade/brush cutter lol. I feel like I sound so dumb when talking about these things, but hey, I’m technically still a “new homeowner”. We’ve only been here a few years! Cut me some slack, please.
After I ordered blades I didn’t need, I played outside with Mr. O. We had a blast running around and playing with his jungle gym. He also stole my “sunnies” and wouldn’t give them back. He didn’t care if they didn’t fit his face; they were his now, and my eyes were left to suffer the sunlight. That little stinker didn’t even wear them…he kept them on the top of his head lol.
On Tuesday, I was up extra early. I was heading downtown to the office at the request of my boss. She asked, since I am a remote employee, if I could try to make it in at least twice a month for team meetings, or when we have guests from our headquarters in town. “Although it’s not required…” I said I would try, because I like my boss, and the weather is nicer now. I could tell she felt a little bad about asking me to come in every once in a while. Again, I agreed and said I would try. So, that’s what I am going to do at least once a month. It will be nice to get out of the house every once in a while.
So, like I said, I was commuting downtown to the office, and I want you to take a moment and guess who/what was late. If you’ve been reading my blogs for a while now, you should know this! Okay, okay, I will tell you: the train! The train was late again. I know, you weren’t expecting that, were you!? Lol. To make matters worse, the air conditioning was apparently not working. It was so hot on this train, however, I powered through. When I arrived at my office, I was greeted with friendly faces. Some I missed, some I don’t speak with that much, but they were nice and said hello anyways. When lunchtime came around, a group of us took a stroll and went to pick up some food. We went to Sterling Food Hall, and I can’t believe I never went there when I was downtown three days a week. It was so close to our office and had so many options!
After careful consideration, I decided to get a delicious cheeseburger from this place called Harry’s Hamburgers. It was good, and so were the fries. Later in the evening, when I came home, Mr. O was so happy to see me. I missed my little man so much! After we put him to bed, I made myself a little chicken-pot-pie I bought, and when it was done, I ended up spilling it everywhere lol. Ugh, I tried so hard not to be PO’d (I succeeded if you’re wondering). You’re probably thinking, “How in the world did he spill a pot pie right out of the oven?”. Well, let me tell you: In order to make sure I get it all out of the container it’s in, I put a bowl over it and try to flip it upside down, so it all pours into my bowl. It helps me mix it up as well. 9/10 times this works! This time, however, my oven mitt slipped and I dropped it all over the tray lol.
I ended up eating it anyways. I just scooped it up and into my bowl from the tray. It was a clean tray, and there’s the five-second rule, right? To end the day, I ate my pot-pie and watched an episode of Smallville.
Wednesday was my 31st birthday. I didn’t feel any different then and I don’t now either. It was a boring day at work, and I could not wait until it was over. On Wednesday night, Lea wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday, so she invited my mom and aunts out to Cheers (where we went for my aunts birthday the week prior). It was nice, Mr. O had a blast again, and it was good company. Overall, it was a good birthday, and I am glad I was able to spend some time with my wife and son.
On Thursday, my anxiety was skyrocketing after work. I realized I made a tiny error, and I always let myself get worked up for some reason, even if I know that I can fix it in the morning. I’m not sure how to help myself mentally, though. I always get anxiety about work, and it’s hard to calm down. Anyway, after work I was in the car and I looked up in the sky and I kid you not, there was a little cross standing on a hill in the sky. The little cloud eased my worries, and I knew it was all going to be okay. I wish I could have stopped to take a picture, but it was only there for a few seconds before the wind blew it away. I love little signs like that. Later Thursday evening, Lea and I binged The Sopranos and relaxed.
On Friday, I started my work day with a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. I haven’t listened in a while, and this guest sounded really interesting. From the episode summary: “Hal Puthoff is a physicist researching energy generation, space propulsion, and other related topics. He is the president and CEO of EarthTech International, Inc., and director of the Institute for Advanced Studies at Austin.” This episode was kind of wild. They spoke about remote viewing, UFOs, possible alien presence on Earth, etc. It was very interesting, to say the least.
After work, I cut the grass, and I think I set a new personal record. I’ve never moved so fast mowing the lawn before. I am very proud! After I finished and cleaned myself up, Lea went for a drive to pick up Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Then, after Mr. O went to sleep and Lea went to read, I crossed another movie off my Letterboxd list: Tombstone. It was really cool, and I enjoyed it very much. On Saturday morning, Mr. O and I watched the cartoon Scooby Doo show from the 2000’s. It was a big piece of nostalgia smacking me in the face, lol. He enjoyed it, but did not want to watch more than one episode.
An hour later, we got him dressed for soccer, and off we went! Lea and I were so proud of him at soccer because he actually participated for once. It was on his own time, but hey, it’s better than nothing. Whenever he felt like participating, he would, then we would go explore some more, lol. After soccer, he took a long nap. Then, after lunchtime, we went to visit the daycare he will be going to soon. Lea and I liked it, and we like the woman who is running it. Mr. O felt comfortable too and made himself at home instantly, which is a really good sign because sometimes he doesn’t get comfortable like that with new people and places.
On Saturday night, I tried to cross another movie off my list: Singin’ in the Rain. I enjoy older movies, and this one is from 1952. I was enjoying it, but my eyes were getting so heavy, so I turned it off with half an hour left. I intend to finish it soon, and I now realize I need to stop watching movies at night! On Sunday morning, Mr. O and I let Lea sleep in since she wasn’t feeling too hot the night before. We went downstairs and I fed him cereal, and we watched Thomas & Friends for a bit. Then, it was time to get dressed because we were headed into Chicago for a friend’s baby shower. It was fun and great to see some old friends. Mr. O had a blast, too. When we came home a few hours later, we made lasagna, watched some TV, gave Mr. O a bath, and spent the rest of the night relaxing.
It was a fun week! I hope you all had a great week and enjoy the week ahead!
Peter
