Fun weekend in Michigan

Hello, I hope you’re all doing well! I think I am finally back to my normal self. Meaning, I have my energy back after an exhausting (but really fun) weekend.

I mentioned in my last post that our little family was driving up to Michigan on Friday (after the holiday) for my cousin’s wedding. Our fun weekend started last Friday. In the morning, to be exact. I woke up with Baby O so Lea could sleep in. We ate breakfast and watched the Disney/Pixar movie Cars. He’s been really into toy cars lately so I figured why not give the movie a try. He enjoyed it for the most part. We didn’t’ get to watch it for too long before Lea woke up. Once she was up that meant we had to start getting ready ourselves (bummer. We were having so much fun!).

Of course, I had to finish packing because I can never do it all the night before. Hey, you never know what you’re going to need in the morning! About an hour later we hit the road. It was a four – and – a – half – hour drive. It felt longer than it was, but it was fun on the way there at least. With about an hour – and – a – half left on the road, we were hungry. So we stopped at Steak n’ Shake to grab a couple burgers and a grilled cheese for the little guy. He loved it. He also had to stand in our booth (he refuses to sit now that he can stand and semi – walk) and make himself known to all the other customers in the restaurant. He was staring, growling, saying “huh” or “haiii” to whoever was near us, and he would keep doing it until someone looked at him lol. He’s the best. Right now he’s the complete opposite of me in that way. I rather nobody look at me and leave me alone lol.

Once we left Steak n’ Shake it felt like the drive was quick. Before we knew it we were at the hotel. Once we got settled in our room we relaxed on the bed and watched TV. We tried to get Baby O to nap but he reassured us that was not going to happen. So, we took him to the pool to tire him out for bed time. It worked! Lol. After about thirty minutes we went back to the room, gave him a batch, and we all tried to sleep. In the same bed. It was one of the worst nights sleep I’ve had in a long time lol. Don’t get me wrong, I love cuddling with the little guy, but he cuddles his mother more, and lays horizontal for some reason, so his little pudgy feet were kicking me in the stomach all night and I was on the edge of the bed!

On Saturday we woke up and went downstairs for breakfast. It was okay. I’ve never been a huge fan of hotel breakfast (unless we’re talking about the Hard Rock in Daytona Beach. Where I was in May for my other cousins wedding. That food was so delicious!). After we ate we went for a walk to burn off all the food we consumed.

Once again, it was nap time. However, we quickly realized the reason he wouldn’t sleep throughout the night or nap during the previous day was because I was in the room. That’s right, he loves his dad so much that he gets too excited and he can’t sleep. So I had to hide in the bathroom in our hotel room for about thirty minutes until he passed out. While him and Lea got to relax and nap, I stayed up and read my compact comic from DC Comics, Batman: The Court of Owls. I also finished it yesterday, by the way. It was so good and I’ll be writing about it soon!

When my family finally woke up, we ate our left overs from the night before and got ready for the wedding. It was a really fun time. The ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was a blast. It’s always so much fun seeing our family and cousins. Baby O had the time of his life. He was all over the place. Saying hi to people, trying to run outside, the normal toddler stuff. It was tough keeping up with him. He’s not that fast, but he’s quick. I don’t know how to explain it lol. A little bit after dinner, Lea took our little man back to the hotel to sleep. Which was kind of her, that way I could stay and catch up with my cousins. Like I said, it’s always a great time. However, once the night was over I had to sneak back into our hotel room so I didn’t wake him. Surprisingly, I did it successfully! And no, I didn’t have anything to drink, which made it much easier lol. To be honest I don’t really drink alcohol anymore. Lea doesn’t either. I don’t feel the need to, and I don’t find the joy in it anymore. Not to mention I feel a lot healthier because of it, and I know I don’t have to worry about feeling like poo the next day.

On Sunday it was finally time to check out. We did our normal breakfast routine. Then we packed up the room and went to the luncheon hosted by the families before we got on the road. It’s always nice. It’s another chance to sit and chat with everyone before we went our separate ways for a while. After an hour or so we left for home. It was another long drive back, which was even worse because of all the traffic. My eyes were so heavy that we had to get off the highway so Lea can drive. Around 6pm we finally arrived home.

It was a great weekend, we loved seeing everyone, and our boy had the best time!
