Weekly Review 97

Hello, readers! Welcome to the 97th edition of my Weekly Review. This week didn’t have too much going on, but I did have a three-day weekend that was filled with fun and lots of laughs from Mr. O. It was mostly more of the same, and we will discuss it now!

It started on Monday. Mr. O slept in until I started working, so I spent my morning putting some of my laundry away and relaxing on the couch (scrolling TikTok). In the evening, I was able to play with Mr O while Lea made dinner. We mostly played with his toys on the ground, but lately he has enjoyed throwing and/or kicking a ball back and forth. It’s always fun playing catch!

Once it was time for bedtime we went upstairs and had our evening wrestling match. It consists of Mr O saying he’s going to pretend to punch and kick me while he is Spiderman or Buzz Lightyear, followed by him actually punching and kicking me. This then leads to me blocking his punches and kicks, picking him up on my shoulder and spinning him around and eventually dropping him (gently) on his bed. He goes nuts for that move, Lol.

Once I convinced him to lay down for the night, we read 8 books and by the last one he was finally falling asleep. I know, I know, “8 books?!”. Well they’re children’s books, so they are mostly quick reads! After I snuck out of his room I went downstairs to work on my Exploring the Region post. Then I read my current book, Stoner, before falling asleep. It was a great start to the week.

On Tuesday morning we had a quick thunderstorm roll through the region. Poor Mr. O woke up terrified. He quickly ran into our room. “Dadaaaaa”, he cried. I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth. He hastily ran in to see me, and then squeezed himself between my leg and the wall. He stood there until I finished brushing my teeth and then he stayed with me until the storm was over a few minutes later.

When he calmed down a bit, we brushed his teeth and got him ready for daycare. I took him this time, and then I had another beautiful drive home. In the evening, I made dinner and simultaneously sent out the first Cousins Fantasy Football League newsletter of the 2026 season to all my cousins. I love writing those. It’s always so much fun and carefree.

It’s election season in our league and we had two cousins running for commissioner. It was a close one. We eventually had our winner and it had to be announced, but before I could get it out, the current commissioner (who lost) cancelled the election and declared a dictatorship throughout the league. It was a drama filled night (mostly joking), but eventually sorted itself out.

After Lea put Mr. O to bed, I played BG3 (Baldurs Gate 3) with my friends. It was a good session. We haven’t played in a long time, at least that’s what it feels like. After that I watched Home Improvement. It was another good day.

On Wednesday, it was the same deal as the previous two days. Besides daycare, our morning routine repeated the precious day. Work was okay. Not bad, but not interesting. Lea and Mr. O were out for the day. I think they went to my moms to let her dog out. I don’t remember, Lol.

On my lunch break I went for a walk around the neighborhood. It was gorgeous outside! I really enjoyed the 20 minutes I spent outside. It was a tad chilly, but I liked it. After work Mr. O and I played outside. He rode his motorcycle down to the corner and we sat there and watched the huge excavator digging and dumping dirt in a dump truck. They have started construction on a new phase in our neighborhood, so we’ve been seeing a lot of trucks lately. Mr. O is obsessed.

Later on, Lea went to Aurelio’s and picked up dinner. This time I got the meatball sub. It was so good, but very tough for me to eat as an actual sandwich, Lol. While we ate, I finished Home Improvement. Man, I’m going to miss that show. It was great.

On Thursday morning Mr. O came into our room after having what appeared to be a really vivid dream. Thankfully, it wasn’t a scary one. He proceeded to tell us, at 6:30 AM, he wanted his friends (the characters from the show Robo Gobo ?) to come over and play. We told him maybe later or another day, and he agreed.

I helped get him ready and Lea took him to daycare this time. He gave me a big hug and kiss before he left and then I didn’t see him until 5PM. When he came home he was exhausted, as usual. After he rested for a bit, we played with his toys. Then, later in the evening, I started watched Arrested Development again on Netflix. That’s another good show! It’s awkward, but that’s what makes it funny, in my opinion.

I had Friday off due to a floating holiday I accrued from the Fourth of July. My day started with Mr. O, as it always does. Lea packed her things and was off to my in-laws for the weekend, so it was just me and my boy.

It was a deserved break for Lea since she is with Mr. O almost every single day, and sometimes night. Although we missed her, we knew she needed a couple days to herself.

When she left, Mr. O and I watched the movie Wall-E. He eventually got scared so we turned it off. Then while he played and watched one of his shows, I did the dishes and cleaned a few shelves in our fridge. I was only able to clean a few because Mr. O came into the kitchen and asked me to come play with him. I can’t turn that down!

During lunchtime we watched the live action Aladdin movie. Then we went to Target to get a card for my cousins graduation party on Saturday. Oh, and Mr. O talked me into buying him two new toys. Anyways, when we left Target we went over to my mom’s house. Mr. O has been begging to go there so we went to play and hang out.

I was able to get some alone time myself, thankfully, as my mom took. Mr. O across the street to play with the little boy who lives there. After about an hour I crossed the street and brought him back to my mom’s so we could pack up our things and go to my grandma’s house for a little bit. Mr. O loves his great-grandmothers, but he loves his own even more. When one of the greats is around, he calls my mom (his Yiayia), the “real Yiayia”.

When we got home we did our normal bedtime routines, and once he fell asleep I went downstairs to watch another episode of Smallville. I’m almost done with the series again. I think once I finish it this time I won’t be watching it again for a long time. It’s my favorite show, but I need a break!

On Saturday morning Mr. O came to sleep with me at 3 AM. Something about his room has been scaring him. He snuggled up and passed out quickly. Thankfully, we both slept in. When we woke up and went downstairs, we FaceTimed with Lea for a few minutes before resuming our play time.

After playing with toys and the PlayStation, we went upstairs and Mr. O “helped” me with the laundry. When I say, “helped”, I mean he layed on the bed and destroyed piles of folded clothes soon after I created them.

When we finished the laundry, he helped me steam our outfits for the graduation party later that night. I do not like wrinkles, especially on nicer clothes! At home and with T-shirts, okay, whatever. A few wrinkles are fine. You’re never going to get all of them out. But when there’s a lot, and they’re bad, I can’t stand it! It’s kind of funny, because now Mr. O complains when his shirt is wrinkled. I try to tell him it’s okay because I don’t want him to be a wrinkle freak like me. So maybe I should just keep my feelings to myself whenever my clothes are wrinkled, Lol.

In the early evening, around 5:15 PM, my mom arrived at our house. She was picking us up for the party and drove us all there. Mr. O, of course, loves riding in his Yiayia’s car. When we got to the party, it was on a rooftop in Lombard, IL at a pretty cool restaurant. The food was good and it was a fun couple of hours. Mr. O ran around with his little digital camera, taking pictures of whatever and whoever. He had a blast.

When it was time to leave, Mr. O had to ride the elevator down the first floor (the building was two stories). He was so excited to push the buttons. On the hour car ride home, the little man fell asleep. Thankfully, I put him in his pajamas before we left, so when we got home I carried him straight into his room and laid him down in his bed.

He proceeded to wake me up at 6:30 AM on Sunday, ticked because he couldn’t find his blanket. “Dada! Where my blanky! Where is it?!” I half opened my eyes and told him it’s in his bed. I watched on the monitor as he went back to his room and sat on his bed. He couldn’t find it. He came to get me again and I walked over to his room, pulled his comforter off and showed him where it was. I got so lucky it was there, Lol.

An hour later we got ready for church. We met my mom and yiayia there, along with one of my aunts. Mr. O behaved for the most part. He fell asleep on the way home, and then laid on the couch for a bit to rest until Lea came home. He was so excited to see his Mama!

We spent the rest of the afternoon laying around, because Lea was exhausted and Mr. O is a bit stuffy and is having growing pains in his legs. So there’s been some playing, some snacking, and a lot of Tv.

Later this evening, I’ll be making dinner. Then, my cousin’s fantasy football league will be having our draft order race to see who gets the first pick. Wish me luck!

A Moment I’m Still Thinking About

Honestly, I’m thinking about a moment that hasn’t happened yet. I’m excited to see where I land in the draft order for our fantasy league. I got so lucky last year with the 4th pick. Hopefully I can’t get a top three pick this year!

Well, that’s me week in review. I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, you should subscribe!
