Weekly Review 56

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Before we begin, I wanted to note that I am once again writing to you on Saturday, so this post might be a little bit shorter than normal. I will explain later on in this post, but I have a busy Sunday coming up! Now, let’s pick up where we left off in last week’s review.

On Monday morning, Mr. O and I were up before everybody else in the house. If you recall, we had Lea’s parents staying with us for a couple of days, so we had to be extra quiet in the morning because we didn’t want to wake them. After I changed Mr. O’s clothes, we stealthily crept around upstairs so we could brush our teeth. To do this, we had to sneak from Mr. O’s room to my room. The rooms are right across the hall from each other, so there was almost zero chance of waking my in-laws, who were in the guest room on the other side of the floor. However, there was one last obstacle we had to overcome: Mama!

Lea was sound asleep in our bed, and Mr. O really wanted to wake her up. It’s one of his favorite things to do, but I had to keep him in control. I managed to get him into our room quietly, but we didn’t make it to the bathroom before he ran over to Lea, stood face to face with her, and yelled “Mamaaa!”, lol. Then he got in bed next to her for a bit, and then we finished our morning routine. After I brushed his teeth, we went downstairs and put on Paw Patrol. Before I knew it, I had to lock myself away in my office and begin my work week. While I was doing that, Lea, Mr. O, and my mother-in-law went shopping. They ended at Target, which Mr. O loves, and came home with a brand-new toy for him (of course. We are incapable of going to Target with him without buying him a toy. We try not to, but it’s hard sometimes). While they were out, my father-in-law was working around our house. One of our cats had torn our carpet up, so he was fixing that, and then he helped organize our garage by hanging these hooks on the walls, so I can hang some of my things instead of leaning them against the wall. He did more, but those are the two things I know he did for sure, lol.

After work, we all cleaned up a bit so we could go to dinner for my father-in-law’s birthday. We went to this restaurant in Merrillville called BJ’s Brewery. I’ve never been there before, but it was a neat place and it had good food. Friendly service too. We sat in this big, rounded booth, which was up against a wall. Above the wall were glass windows with Halloween decorations on them. Mr. O was terrified of this little spider decoration that was on our side, above us. So, we switched sides with Lea’s parents, and he was okay after that. When we came home, we tried to watch the rest of the Monday night football game, but everyone was so tired, lol. We all went to bed.

On Tuesday morning, I could tell I was in a dream. I didn’t want to wake up until I finished them, which is strange because typically I’ve never been able to do that, especially after realizing I’m in a dream, but I had to see it through, so I guess I made it happen. When I allowed myself to wake up, it was pouring rain outside, and it was one of the most beautiful sounds I’d ever heard. We haven’t had a good storm around here in a long time! Unfortunately, although I loved the rain, I had to take Mr. O to daycare, so getting him into the car was a little more difficult than usual, lol. When I came back, Lea’s parents had left. After three days of having people in our home, we were finally back to normal. The workday went by quickly, and before I knew it, it was time to pick up Mr. O from daycare. Lea started making dinner when I left. When we came home, dinner was ready! We ate, we played, we bathed Mr. O, and then he went to bed. It was a good day.

On Wednesday, Mr. O was up with some congestion in the middle of the night. He came and slept with us, and it seemed to have gone away later on in the day. Not much happened on Wednesday. We watched Cars, and we played after work, ate dinner, and did our normal nightly routine. On Thursday, Mr. O came to sleep with us again. This time it was because of bad dreams. I asked him what scared him, and he said, “No, Dada, I scare skeleton”, lol. Later on that morning, we watched Paw Patrol again until he fully woke up. I went to work, as usual, and Mr. O and Lea hung out all day. After work, we ate and played, and Mr. O started a new nightly routine for himself. We had the back door open so some fresh air could come through the screen door, and Mr. O went to stand in the doorway and scream into the void. His voice boomed through the neighborhood, and he screamed his gibberish. We could hear it echoing, lol.

On Friday, once again, Mr. O slept with us. However, he was knocked out this time, so I had managed to sneak out of bed, shower, eat, and come back upstairs to find him basically on top of Lea in our bed, lol. He had his hand on her face, his head on her pillow, and the rest of his body spread out diagonally across my side of the bed. He was lying on his back, which meant this kid was snoring! In the evening, two of my cousins came over to spend some time with us. They are both back from college for fall break for a few days, so it was nice that they came over for a bit. Mr. O loves seeing them!

On Saturday, Mr. O and I slept in until 7:30 AM. It felt great to be able to do that finally. Mr. O slept in his own bed, so that was nice too. However, he woke up not feeling well. He was stuffy and coughing, and had no energy all day. We watched Paw Patrol and hung out with Lea for a while, then he went to take a nap. While he slept, I cut the grass and then went to do some shopping. First, I went to Second & Charles to buy Batman: The Long Halloween. I feel like it’s a good time to read it, lol. It’s a thick book, but I think I can get through it in the next twenty days. Then, I went to Lowes to buy new downspouts for outside. I finally found some that fit! After Lowes, I went to Walmart to pick up a wedding/congratulations card for an old friend, and something for Lea. Once all of that was finished, I swung by Culver’s to get Lea and Mr. O some ice cream.

Mr. O didn’t want his, so I ended up eating some of it, lol. Our poor little guy’s temperature kept rising. Then, around 7 PM, it finally started dropping, and he was getting back to his normal, goofy self. So we let him play for a bit and then bathed him. After he went to bed, I came back downstairs and wrote this weekly review for all of you. Tomorrow I am going to church in the morning. Lea and Mr. O are going to stay home since the little guy isn’t feeling well. At church, we are having a memorial for my brother and my grandfather. It’s been nine years since they passed, and it feels like time has flown by. After church, I plan on coming home, and then my mom and I are going to the Bulls’ pre-season game at night. It should be a busy, tiring, but fun day.

I hope you guys have a great week!

Peter
