Weekly Review 53

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Hello, readers! I’m writing this week’s review a day early (on Saturday) because we are attending a wedding tomorrow (Sunday), so it will be a little bit shorter than usual. I am also unsure of the quality, because as I write this, Mr. O is sitting next to me on the couch, with his own keyboard, and eventually he will become tired of his “puter”, causing him to try and type on mine. It’ll be okay, though! I’ll do my best to maintain the quality. Now, let’s dive into this week’s edition of my Weekly Review.

On Monday, our vacation was over, and it was time to come back to reality. Jumping back into our normal routines after a week-long vacation is never easy, but we managed to do it somehow. Bright and early, I was up with Mr. O. He hasn’t been sleeping well lately and has been up between three and four in the morning this whole week! Monday was no exception. He was up and ready to go, so we came downstairs to eat and watch a few of his shows. Then, the school bus parked in front of our house, as it does every day, to pick up the kids on our street, and Mr. O ran as fast as he could to the door to see the bus. As it drove away, he let out a bittersweet “Bye, bus…” while he waved. After work, I made a quick dinner, and we all watched Monday night football and played with Mr. O. I think I’ve created a giant football fan this year, lol. Every week, he starts chanting “Football! Football!”, and most days I have to break it to him that football isn’t on. He is also a big Bears fan, yelling “Go Bears! Go Bears!” even when they aren’t playing. I don’t know how to break it to him that he’s going to be a miserable football fan for his whole life. I feel kind of bad, but hey, I didn’t force him into loving the Bears. He did that on his own!

On Tuesday, I took Mr. O to daycare. After not being there for a week, he was really excited to go back. He basically rushed me out the door after he hugged me, lol. When I came home, I started working, and the day went by fairly quickly. After work, Lea picked up Mr. O, and I made my chicken and rice recipe. Well, it’s my mom’s, but in this house it’s mine! After we ate, we played with Mr. O, and Lea put on Dancing With the Stars. I’ve never actually watched this show. I don’t enjoy shows like that much, whether it’s DWTS, The Voice, etc., I just don’t like them. I do enjoy American Idol sometimes, but that’s about it. When Mr. O went to bed, I started working on my Halloween post. I wanted to get a head start so I don’t have to feel rushed once October comes around, and I think (and hope) you all enjoy it very much! This year, I’m writing about Southeast Grove Cemetery, right here in the region. I am going to try to write about local lore from the region every year for Halloween, and when I run out, I will figure out what to write about then, lol.

On Wednesday morning, I woke up around five and went into the basement to work out. It feels so good to work out early in the day, but that was the only time I was able to do it this week since Mr. O keeps waking up earlier and earlier. When I finished my workout (around six), Mr. O and Lea were up. I had my headphones on, so I did not hear him crying. Apparently, he was awake while I was still working out, but Lea heard him and got up with him. Once I convinced him to let me shower and get ready for the day, I quickly cleaned myself up and we went downstairs to watch his videos before I started working. He wouldn’t go downstairs without me, and he kept telling me to hurry up, lol. The workday was okay. It was work, you know? Nothing exciting about it. Afterwards, we continued with our normal evening routine. We ate, we played, we watched a show, and went to bed.

When Thursday rolled around, Mr. O was up at three in the morning. I was going to let him cry it out, but then I looked at the monitor and he was halfway over his crib railing. I ran in there to grab him to make sure he doesn’t fall out! Then I picked him, his Mickey Mouse stuffed animal, and his stuffed pumpkin and brought them to our room. Yes, he has a pumpkin stuffed animal. He picked it out at Target when he went with Lea. No, it’s not actually a toy; it’s house décor, but he loves it, lol. When I brought him to our bed, we passed out for a few hours, then my alarm went off. Mr. O was still knocked out, and I snuck away to take a shower. A few minutes later, I heard the door to the bathroom creak, and little footsteps walking towards me. I have to admit, although I knew who it was, it was kind of scary! Then, the shower curtain was pulled open, and Mr. O was there saying, “Hi Dada!”. Suddenly, my fear went away, and his cute little smile lit up the room.

A few minutes later, we went downstairs and continued our daily routine. After work, Mr. O helped me cut the grass, and then we ate dinner and played until bedtime. I ended the night watching the most recent episode of Peacemaker. Man, this season is really good! I can’t wait to see where it leads the DCU as a whole. Although each show and film is its own, there is a bigger story being created in all of them. I’m so pumped to see what’s going to happen.

On Friday, while I was working, Lea and Mr. O went to pick up my mom. They were headed to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch. We have a lot of family in the area this weekend for the wedding, so they went to meet some of them for lunch. Thankfully, Lea brought me home a sandwich and a piece of chocolate cheesecake. It was delicious! On Friday night, we went to the South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority in Hammond. One of my longtime friends, along with his siblings, was surprising their mother with a painting of their late father. It highlighted their family business, which has been around the area for a long time, serving the community. The event was fun. It was great seeing some of my buddies from high school and catching up with them and their families. Mr. O had a blast running around with one of our friends’ kids. It sure tired him out, lol. He passed out on the ride home and barely made it through reading two books before bed.

On Saturday, Mr. O slept in until his normal time, thankfully. When he woke up, we watched his train and truck YouTube videos, then did some laundry. Lea went shopping for a few hours, while Mr. O and I played. When he napped, I got a quick workout in and made myself lunch. Later in the evening, we plan to meet for dinner with my aunt and uncle (who flew in from Florida, also with whom we just spent our vacation) for dinner. We haven’t decided where to go yet, but we will later.

As I said at the beginning of this post, on Sunday we are going to my cousin’s wedding. It should be a good time, and I will try my best to take pictures! I hope you all had a great week and weekend, and I apologize if the quality of this post is lower than normal. Next week’s review will be much better!

Peter
