Before I start, I just wanted to say, happy 50th Weekly Review to all of my readers! Thank you for reading, liking, and sometimes commenting every week (please don’t forget, you can always tell me how your week has been in the comments). I appreciate you all so much!
Monday morning gave us an early taste of autumn. It was cool, breezy, and felt amazing around the house. I opened most of the windows before I went to get Mr. O ready for the day. Once I had him dressed, we ran into my room so he could look out the open window at the school bus driving by. As I’ve said before, one of the bus stops is right in front of our house, so some kids on our street come and hang out at the end of our driveway while they wait. One kid from across the street noticed Mr. O watching for the bus this time (and heard him talking), and he turned around to give a friendly smile and wave. Mr. O was so excited, he covered his mouth with one hand while he giggled and ran away, lol.
Once my aunt came to our house, I locked myself in my office for another busy day at work. “You have this due, and also this….oh, and this is due too!” It was never-ending! Fortunately for me, I was able to take a few breaks throughout the day to relax my mind, and one of the things I like to do most during those breaks is watch Mr. O if he is home. I went out our front door and stood on our porch watching as he was riding his little motorcycle back up and down the sidewalk while my aunt was quickly walking behind him to keep up. Hearing his giggles from down the street is so cute. He was having so much fun, so I tried to hide a little bit as I recorded because if he saw me, he would have stopped and run to me, and he was having a blast with my aunt, so I didn’t want to ruin that.
After work, I took him back outside to play. I sat on the porch step as he dug through our rocks. The rocks we have out front are from when we first moved in. Lea tried to do a little landscaping, and it looked good, but we had other things to worry about over the years and didn’t take care of it enough. Now, those rocks are there for Mr. O to dig with his little shovel. Lea and I decided we are not going to do any legitimate landscaping until he is out of his digging phase! We do realize that might be a while, lol. Once he was bored with digging, Mr. O wanted to drive his car. I have the remote for it, so I control the speed and turns (unless he jerks the wheel, which he does, then it’s a little more difficult to control!).
This time, I figured he was old enough to go full speed (he’s two, but like, a big two. Plus, he wanted to go full speed). So I had my little guy flying up and down the sidewalks. His little old man laugh, echoing throughout the neighborhood, is always one of the best sounds in the world. When we drove the car back to our house, he jerked the steering wheel again and went off-road into our grass. He thought it was so funny, but quickly became bored with the car going so slowly, and jumped out. When I told him we were going inside for dinner, he surprisingly did not put up a fight. I forgot what Lea made on Monday, but I’m sure it was delicious. After we watched a little bit of The Lion King, Mr. O went to sleep, I worked out in the basement, and then I finished the comic Batman: Hush. It was okay. It was a fun read, but I didn’t like the ending all that much. I figured it out during the last few chapters.
On Tuesday morning, I was up early and ready to go. I was making my monthly appearance in the office and was off to catch the train. This time, I made it! I caught the train I actually wanted to be on. Somehow, I still arrived in Chicago late, lol. Work was okay. It was nice seeing some of my co-workers in person again. When it was time for lunch, I took a stroll around the city for about twenty minutes. Something was filming a few blocks from my office, so I walked through that while they appeared to be on a break. At least I hope they were on a break, otherwise I will be an extra in some random show or movie!
After work, I met my godfather at Exchequer again (I’ve written about this place before, long ago). This was the first time we went out to dinner since I began working from home. It was nice to see him again, and it was fun, as always. The food was still good, too! Surprisingly, on the train ride home, I was able to find two people I know to talk with. It was a good time catching up, and it made the ride so much faster. When I came home, everyone in my house was asleep. I don’t blame them. I was also tired, so I got ready for bed and passed out.
On Wednesday, my normal morning routine took place. Mr. O and I hung out until my aunt came over (If you’re wondering where my mom is, she is on vacation). Before I started working, I went outside to water the grass. Some spots are already growing little tiny pieces of grass, so it gives me hope that I did everything correctly when planting the seed and putting new soil down! One thing I noticed outside, in our front yard, is a big pile of dog poop. This is the second time I’ve seen a pile of dog poop in our yard, and we do not have a dog! Whoever is doing this is sneaky. It’s just outside of the range for our Ring doorbell, so it does not catch it. It’s a mystery I intend to solve! It’s not the biggest deal in the world, but it’s pretty annoying because I don’t want Mr. O to step in it when he’s outside, I don’t want to step in it when I’m mowing the yard, and it smells. Also, if I wanted dog poop in my yard, I would get a dog. Anyway, as I said, I will find out who is doing this and politely ask them to stop and/or pick it up at the very least. I have my suspicions, but I will keep them to myself for now.
After work, we played before making dinner and watching The Summer I Turned Pretty. I did not think I would like this show as much as I do, lol. If any of you saw that last episode, can I just say, HUH?! I wonder what’s going to happen next. I don’t want to spoil anything (although you’ve all had days to watch it!), so I will stop talking about it now. When the show ended, Mr. O and I resumed playing, and we wrestled on the floor. He’s getting so strong. His hits actually kind of hurt!
On Thursday evening, I made brats on our little inside grill. They were surprisingly pretty good and will hopefully be on our rotating list of dinners. We all spent the night playing, and then when Mr. O went to sleep, I watched the latest episode of Peacemaker. It was pretty good, and it’s doing a great job of connecting the DCU so far. When Friday morning came around, I took Mr. O to daycare. He is learning to become such a good boy. He takes his shoes off when he gets inside there, and he runs to give me hugs goodbye. When I returned home and turned on my computer, I began another busy day of work, but this time there was light at the end of the tunnel: an early release (because of Labor Day).
Nothing has me more motivated than knowing I will be getting out of work early! Once 3:30 PM hit, I shut down my computer and immediately started cutting the grass. While I was finishing up out front, Lea and Mr. O were playing outside, and our little guy grabbed his mower and helped me cut the lawn. It was so cute!

When we finished, he helped me blow the grass off the driveway and sidewalk, and then we went inside so I could make dinner. On this night, I made chicken and bacon kabobs. They weren’t bad at all, and really easy to make. They were already on the skewer and wrapped, so all I had to do was pop them in the oven, lol. When Mr. O went to bed, exhausted after a long day of yardwork, Lea and I watched the second Twilight movie. This one was kind of cool. Definitely more interesting than the first one. I found the old vampire family an interesting addition to the story. Hopefully, we can knock out the last movie this coming week.
On Saturday morning, we packed a night’s worth of belongings to take to my in-laws. We were driving down for the day because I was going on the boat with my in-laws, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew. Lea, Mr. O, my sister-in-law, and their baby stayed back this time. It was a nice drive down and a relaxing day on the boat. I went tubing with my nephew and brother-in-law, so that was fun. As the day went on, the heat picked up, so when we pulled up to a spot at the edge of the lake for the kids to play in the sand, the sun was beating down on me. I had to put my shirt back on because I could feel my shoulders burning up. Thankfully, I didn’t get a burn, but I would have if I hadn’t put my shirt back on!
When we came back to my in-laws’ house, Lea and our sister-in-law were making dinner for everyone. It was such a nice gesture and not at all because we asked them to! Mr. O was happy to see all of us and even happier to see his cousins. We all ate and played, and then my mother-in-law needed help moving things from upstairs into the basement, so my brother-in-law and father-in-law got moving and knocked that chore out pretty quickly. When we were done, and everyone went home, we watched The Lion King again to tire Mr. O out. It didn’t work.
Mr. O was wide awake and demanded that I sleep in the tiny bed with him and his mommy. It was a tight fit, but I passed out quickly. I was told the next morning that he was up half the night and was farting in my face. I could have gone without knowing that, but Lea thought it was very funny and had to tell me. Also, it was a very uncomfortable sleep! On Sunday morning, we went to breakfast at Bob Evans. It was so good. I love breakfast food so much. I finished both of my plates, lol. Yes, both! On one plate, I had two giant pieces of French toast. They were drenched in syrup, butter, and powdered sugar. On the other hand, I had two eggs (over medium), a few pieces of bacon, and lots of hash browns. I was very hungry, if you could not tell.
After breakfast, we drove home and relaxed for a bit. Then, I took a drive out to my grandma’s house, because she wanted one of her shovels back. I walked out of her house with a bag full of food, but before I could get in my car, I had to use that shovel to dig a few holes in her garden for her. Looking back, there was zero chance I was leaving without doing that, lol. It’s okay, I didn’t mind. When I came home, Lea made dinner, and we played with Mr. O. Then, I had another fantasy football draft to attend while I watched the Notre Dame football game. The draft went well, I thought. We will see how the season plays out in this one.
It’s a quiet night here, currently. It’s always fun reflecting on the week as I write these. Overall, it was a great one. I hope you all have an awesome week ahead.
Peter
