Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

I woke up so tired on Monday and I have no idea why. Waking up this way was not a good start to the week, but it started getting better once Mr. O was awake. Before I started working, he and I played with his trains. I love the quality time we get some mornings, it really helps get me in a good mood for the day. Once my mom came to our house, I locked myself away for about an hour, and then I came back out to our living room to say goodbye to Mr. O. The little man was off to his dentist appointment, where him and my mom were going to meet Lea. He is not a fan of the dentist, but from what I’ve heard, he did okay this at this visit. Not great, but “Okay”, and that’s better than his first time there!

Once I clocked out, I went to my moms to pick up Mr. O, and when we came home I fired up the griddle and threw some burgers on for my family. I’ve been a little lazy when it comes to grilling lately. I don’t know why, maybe it’s because I’ve been extra tired and I don’t want to deal with cleaning the grill off, cooking the food, making sure the grill is put away, and all the other little things that come with it. Some days I enjoy it, other days I don’t even want to look at it, lol. After Mr. O went to bed, Lea and I finally finished The Sopranos. It was her first time watching the show, and she was not a fan of the ending: “You made me sit through all of that, for this?!” She did admit it was a good show and she enjoyed it, but she (like the rest of us) cannot comprehend why they would end the show like that!

On Tuesday I woke up early so I can have my quiet time. I made a bowl of oatmeal and logged in to every bill I pay for so I can update my card information. My new debit card recently came in the mail so I wanted to make sure I changed everything before my old one expired. While I was in the middle of doing that, I suddenly remembered “Oh sh*&t I have to drive Mr. O to daycare and get home before I’m supposed to start work!” I rushed upstairs, brushed my teeth, woke up Mr. O (who was surprisingly cooperative), and then we were off. It was a little chaotic at first, and I hate waking him up like that, but we needed to go, lol. When I came back home after dropping him off, Lea had started our dinner in the crock pot. She makes this delicious chicken in there, and then in the evening we usually make mashed potatoes and a can of vegetables to serve with the chicken. It’s one of mine (and Mr. O’s) favorite meals.

After we ate dinner, Mr. O took a bath and went to bed. I ended my night by doing the dishes and reading a comic. I’m currently reading a Robin storyline and it’s pretty cool. I wanted to try something other than Superman and Batman, and I’m glad I did!

On Wednesday morning Mr. O and I watched the school bus park in front of our house to pick up the kids on our street. He loves watching the bus! “Hi bus!”, “Bye, bus!”. Once the bus left, I made him breakfast. He’s been enjoying waffles lately, so I’ve been making him a couple in the mornings and spreading some butter on them and he always goes “Yummmmm”. While he was eating I wanted to try a new show with him. As I was scrolling on YouTube I came across Curious George, so I put it on to see how Mr. O liked it. Turns out he is a fan! I think he can relate to the monkey, and I am not joking, lol. He just really loves George.

In the evening, I tried out a new steak recipe on the grill.I sprinkled salt and pepper on it before putting them on the grill. Then, when the steak was done, I put butter, minced garlic closes, and fresh thyme on the stove and let it all mix together. After a minute or two I lathered it on the steak. I thought it was okay. It wasn’t what I was expecting, but Lea liked it a lot and that made me happy. I think it will stay in our rotation for a bit. While we were eating we watched the most recent episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty. It’s a pretty good show and it is on its last season. Then, Lea wanted to watch some podcast Taylor Swift was on. So Mr. O and I played for a bit while she was watching that, then I took the little guy upstairs for his bedtime routine. We brushed our teeth, got him ready for bed, read some books and laid him down. When he finally fell asleep, I turned on Joe Rogan and went downstairs to work out. It was a really interesting episode with Congresswoman Luna. They spoke a lot of UFO’s and “inter dimensional entities”. If you haven’t listened to it and it sounds interesting, I recommend doing so.

When Thursday morning came around I packed up Mr. O and took him to my mom’s house. He loves going there. He is constantly saying, “Yiayia house”, even after I pick him up to bring him home. Once again, he took his little lawnmower over there to “cut grass”. Before I knew it half the day had gone by, and it was time for lunch. I quickly made a couple eggs and then I sat outside on our new patio, baking in the sun for the last fifteen minutes of my break. It was so quiet and peaceful, and the warmth of the sun felt incredible. As I was sitting out there I was reminded of my grandfather. Images of him at their old house, sitting in his chair outside by himself just enjoying the peace and quiet came through my mind. Listening to the birds chirping, feeling the summer wind blowing all around you. It’s beautiful, and I finally realized why he enjoyed it so much.

Later that night we were both too lazy to cook, so we ordered dinner from Aurelio’s again. I say “again” and it makes it sound like we order it all the time (we don’t). I said “again” because when we do order food, we typically order from there because it’s so close to our house, lol. After Mr. O went to sleep, I went for a beautiful evening walk around the neighborhood. No headphones this time. Just myself and the outdoors. The sounds of the birds mixed in with the distant traffic gives me a nostalgic feeling and I can’t explain why. No particular memory came to my mind, but I couldn’t help but feel a longing for somewhere in the past. Anyway, those feelings went away about twenty minutes later when I got home. I tried to enter through the front door, but the keypad apparently ran out of batteries, and I didn’t take my physical key with me. I then tried to go in through the garage, but I forgot I locked the door before I left, so I was locked out of my house, lol. Thankfully, Lea wasn’t asleep yet. She came and let me in. I’m so thankful for her! She saved my life! I wrapped up my day by working on my Exploring the Region post. I should be done with that soon, hopefully.

On Friday Mr. O was not feeling well. I took some time off of work to be there for him. I was also able to get a lot done with my day off. I vacuumed, did laundry, started watching the Angry Griffith show (it reminds me of my dad), and I went to pick up more top soil from Lowe’s. When I came home I had time to pour the new soil down and also seed the yard. Finally, my extremely long morning was complete, and I went to clean myself up. Later in the afternoon, I made us lunch, we watched Smallville, and I was able to continue my work on the next edition Exploring the Region.

When Lea came home I made a couple chicken kabobs with rice. They were okay. I don’t know, I haven’t really been a fan of my cooking lately. Hopefully that changes soon, because Lea keeps telling me my meals are good. In other news, Mr. O had a random burst of energy Friday night. He was still stuffy and coughing, but he also had the zoomies. He was running all over the house, playful screaming with his hoarse little voice. It was good for him to get his energy out before bed, lol.

On Saturday morning I was up early with Mr. O. He was still unwell, so I made him breakfast and we watched the movie Cars. A few hours later, I took him to my mom’s because Lea and I had a lot of work to do:

We decided to paint Mr. O’s playroom! Lea taped and painted the edges, while I painted the walls. We put on a playlist, brought up some snacks and sandwiches, and spent the next five (?) hours working non-stop. Below are the “after” pictures:

Lea did a great job picking out this color. It looks fantastic! This is now the third bedroom we’ve painted together since we moved in and it was just as fun as the first two times. I enjoy when we paint. It feels good to do something. Like you’re actually making something, you know? I don’t know, maybe I’m not making sense right now, but whenever we finish painting I feel a great sense of accomplishment. I love that feeling.

Once we finished painting, cleaned up, and washed ourselves off, I went back to my mom’s to pick up Mr. O. In return for not making her drive all the way out here to bring him back, she bought us dinner for me to take home. Thankfully, we came home before this pretty nasty thunderstorm started. After Mr. O went down, I put on season one of the show Peacemaker. It’s a DC Comics show on HBO. Season 2 is coming out this Thursday (I think) and I wanted to rewatch the first season, even though most of it is not canon to the new DCU. I’m not sure what is canon and what is not, but we will find out when the new season drops!

At 4:30 AM on Sunday morning I was woken up by really loud thunder, and Mr. O screaming in his room. The poor guy was scared, so I went and grabbed him (and all his teddy bears, Mickey Mouse, and bunny) and brought him to our bed. He eventually fell back asleep, but it wasn’t for long. An hour later I felt a pain on my face. I open my eyes and he is right over me, looking down into my eyes, lol. He was pulling my beard hairs trying to wake me up. He was ready to start the day, so we went downstairs, ate some food and watched The Lion King. He has been obsessed with this movie recently. When Lea came down about an hour later, she started making our grocery list. She asked Mr. O what he would like for dinner and he replied “Food.” I was laughing so hard because I do not know where this little smart a$$ attitude came from. He was dead serious too!

Later on, in the afternoon, we brought all his toys back into his playroom and showed him the new walls. He liked the paint, but cared more about his toys. We all played up there for a while, then he went down for a nap, Lea went to the store, and I worked out downstairs. The rest of the day was pretty similar to the beginning: The Lion King, Curious George, play time, eating, etc. It was a relaxing Sunday and it was much needed for all of us.

I hope you all had a great week, and I hope this week treats you well.

Peter
