Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Monday was the the official start of our week long vacation. Lea took the week off as well, so we were both able to spend quality time with Mr. O. Our vacation started like any other day: Mr. O woke up, we got him dressed, brushed our teeth and went downstairs to eat and watch some TV while we play on the floor. Since I wasn’t working, I wanted to watch the podcast Pardon My Take on YouTube (typically, I listen while I work, but since I was off I wanted to watch). At first Mr. O said “No. Trucks!” so I put his truck videos on. He’s been into Bob the Builder lately and seems to be enjoying it. Eventually, I mustered up the courage to put on Pardon My Take, and he was okay with it (thankfully. I was sweating bullets as I was turning off his show!).
Lea didn’t care what was on the TV. She was enjoying her breakfast and watching Mr. O play. Once the show was over, we all went upstairs. Lea worked on the laundry while I kept Mr. O occupied until it was nap time. While he slept, I was able to have a nice workout downstairs, and then I ran to the store for some groceries. To my surprise, there were more people there in the middle of a Monday than I thought there would be. It didn’t slow me down though, I was able to get back home in record time! After I came home and Mr. O woke up, we went to lunch at this cool restaurant called Tyler’s Tenders. It was themed “choo-choo” themed and Mr. O went nuts for it. There was this big train set near our booth and you could go on either side and press the buttons to make the trains go. Take a wild guess where Mr. O was the entire time we were there?
They also had a little train ride on the other side of the restaurant, which was really cool. Mr. O and I hopped on for a quick ride but he was not a fan. He wanted to get out as soon as possible, lol. We’ve noticed recently that he enjoys playing with train toys and watching trains, rather than riding in them. Getting him to leave this place was tough, but we managed. When we came home we played a little bit more, gave the little man a bath and put him to bed. Then, Lea and I finished the day by watching a couple episodes of The Sopranos. We’re almost finished with it!
On Tuesday morning Mr. O and I played in his playroom. He wanted to play in his “house”, which is his little tent. He said he wanted me over there but then kicked me out and made me sit right outside the entrance to it. He doesn’t like to share with me sometimes. Once we became tired of playing upstairs, we followed Lea downstairs, where she was decorating our house with our fall decorations. While she did that, Mr. O and I played some music and had a short dance party. Then, I did some sweeping while Mr. O rode his bike into everything, lol. Eventually, he wanted to relax beore his nap, so we put on Monsters Inc. and calmed down. When he finally went to sleep, I played NBA2K25 on the PlayStation for a bit, but quickly became bored of it. My games haven’t brought me any joy lately and I stopped playing all together, but I wanted to try again in hopes of that spark coming back. Sadly, it did not.
Later in the evening I made cheeseburgers on the griddle, since it was way too hot to grill outside. We were dealing with another heatwave in the midwest this week and I didn’t want to also deal with a hot grill in my face. Turns out, it didn’t matter what I cooked them on. They were still good! After dinner I had mentioned to Lea I wanted to see Superman in theaters a fourth and final time before it ended its theatrical run. She said I could go tonight if I wanted to, so I bought my ticket and took off for the theater! Honestly, I was afraid I was going to be bored and/or annoyed with it if I saw it again, but my feelings were the same! I absolutely loved it, just like I had the first three times. I’m so thankful for this movie, and I have been so blessed to be able to see it four times in theaters.
On Wednesday morning Mr. O and I watched Bob the Builder again. It’s not a bad show, but it’s definitely not the version of the show I remember. I’m sure it’s newer because it looks way to good to be the version I am thinking of, lol. We let Lea sleep in on this day, but when she woke up I went outside to cut the grass. I had let it grow for a couple weeks because it was either constantly raining or there was a heatwave. After I finished and cleaned myself up, Mr. O was napping, so I caught up on Smallville since I hadn’t watched it in a while. The rest of the day was very relaxed. We played, ate, watched TV occasionally and had fun together.
Early Thursday morning, maybe around 2 or 3 in the morning, Mr. O woke up screaming. My poor guy. I went in there first to rock him and he eventually went back to sleep, as did I. However, I did not hear him the second time he woke up, so Lea went in there with him for a few hours, until she finally gave up and handed him off to me. I brought my little buy into our room and he slept in bed with me the rest of the night. He’s so cute when he sleeps. He’s a snorer too! We woke up hours later and began our day for real this time, lol.
Our morning was normal. We ate and played, and then Mr. O went down for a nap. He was still exhausted from the early morning sleep over. I somehow found the energy to work out and then I ate Lea’s leftover chinese food she brought home from the night before. She had gone to dinner with some of her friends. I’m so lucky she brings me the food she doesn’t eat! A few hours later my brother in law came to visit with his family. We had a good time! Lea made dinner and then we all played outside with the kids. Then, me, my brother in law, niece and nephew all went to the movies. Yes, I went again, but not for Superman! We went to see Marvel’s Fantastic Four. I felt like I was cheating on Superman. I even wore my Superman shirt! That’s how guilty I felt.
The movie was not as good as Superman and I definitely did not like it as much, but it was still a good movie. It was better than I thought it would be! I do recommend seeing it if you’re interested. It was a fun watch. On Friday, Mr. O, Lea, and I somehow all woke up around the same time. I snuck downstairs to make a bowl of cereal, trying to be extra stealthy so I wouldn’t wake my nephew, who was sleeping on the couch. I succesfully made a bowl of cereal and snuck back upstairs without waking him, and I sat on the floor in our bedroom feeding myself and Mr. O Cheerios, lol. A few hours later, once everyone was awake and dressed, we went to Washington Park Zoo in Michigan City, Indiana. I’ll be writing about that place soon in my Exploring the Region series, but for now I will just say this: It was realy cool! We all had a blast and Mr. O loved seeing all the animals (and even feeding some!).
On our way home we stopped at this restaurant by our house called Bugaboos. It’s on the lake and has a beautiful view. The food was good and we all had a good time. When we came home, our guests sadly packed up their things and went home. It was a fun couple of days and Mr. O loved playing with his cousins. After they left, Lea cleaned all of Mr. O’s toys, and then we gave him a bath and put him to bed. We finished the day watching The Sopranos again.
On Saturday morning I changed and dressed Mr. O, and then I brought him into our bed so we can lay and cuddle for a bit. We were all so tired from the previous couple of days. Later that morning, I took the little guy to the park so he could run around and enjoy the cool breeze in the air before the heat kicked in. He loved going up and down the slide and the swings! He kept wanting me to push him fast, lol. After being there for about an hour, he surprisingly was okay with me telling him we had to walk back home. So , we walked home from the park, Mr. O talking the whole time. Half in his language, half in ours. He doesn’t make it easy to converse with him, but we’ve been figuring it out each day!
After his nap, we all went to my aunt’s house to swim. Well, Mr. O and Lea swam. I wasn’t in the mood for it. I don’t know. I guess I just don’t like swimming all that much. If I can avoid it, I do. I don’t like being all wet! I sound like such an old man, but I stand by it. Mr. O loved sitting in this floatie, which was in the shape of a car. It also had a water gun, lol. He kept shooting me and giggling like crazy. He was having a blast and I was so happy for him. He then discovered he could get out and jump back in the pool, lol. He was not happy that my cousin had to catch him every time. Mr. independent wanted to jump in all on his own, with no one catching him. We did not allow that, but he eventually got over it.
My uncle made burgers, hot dogs, and corn for lunch. When the food was done we dried off Mr. O, changed his clothes and went inside to eat. We spent the rest of our time there hanging out inside, eating, and talking. My mom and grandma eventually stopped by too, and Mr. O was so excited to see them. My mom had been on vacation all week so he did not get to see her as much as he is used to. Of course, she brought him new toys, so he played with those the rest of the night. After he went to bed, Lea and I binged The Sopranos again. We are so close! We only have five episodes left on Lea’s first viewing of the show. I’m excited to see what she thinks when it all ends, lol.
Once again, early Sunday morning, Mr. O woke up screaming. Trying to avoid creating a similar situation as the other night (where I put him back in his crib and he woke up again hours later), I picked him up and took him straight to our bed, where he slept with me the rest of the night. This time, though, he was rolling into me occasionally, kicking my stomach, and acting like there wasn’t a whole other side of the bed he could be sleeping on! I do appreciate the cuddles, though. Lea was sleeping in the guest room. She hasn’t been feeling well, and the cats keep her up at night, so she’s been locking herself away in there to get some good sleep. It works out when nights like these happen. Mr. O can sprawl out and sleep comfortably next to me. I just hope this doesn’t continue now that our vacation is over and we are going back to work this coming week.
This time we slept in until 8:30 AM. It felt nice, but I was still exhausted from waking up every, I don’t know, thirty minutes? Mr. O was moving a lot in his sleep, as I said above. When we came downstairs we played and then Mr. O started not feeling well. He went back and forth cuddling us most of the day, and we eventually took his temperature and saw he had a tiny fever. Our poor boy! So, we had a very lazy day today. We let him cuddle and relax as we watched Friends, The Incredibles, and Smallville. I hope he sleeps through the night, and I hope he feels better tomorrow!
P.S. – Sorry if there are more erros than usual in this week’s post. I wrote most of it while walking on the treadmill and my hands/knuckles were really hurting so I was trying to hurry through most of the post. I eventually sat down to write out the last few days, but now I am too tired to read through it, lol. Ah, well. I hope you enjoyed this weeks Weekly Review. Please share and subscribe.
I hope you all had a great week!
Peter
