Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Early on Monday morning, I packed up Mr. O and drove him over to my mom’s house. It’s about twenty-five to thirty minutes, depending on traffic, so I wanted to leave around six forty-five in the morning to give myself some breathing room before work. Naturally, on this day, he did not want to go. My little man wanted to stay home and hang out with me. It’s so sad that I can’t give him what he wants sometimes. I did convince him, though, by telling him he could wake up and feed her dog, Sparty. That’s the only way he’d let me put his shoes and socks on!
When I came home that morning, the concrete company was already at our house. They were building our new patio in the backyard and wasted no time. They were here for a good chunk of the day. Before I knew it, they were done! It looks great, but they left a bunch of dirt and rocks that I have to clean up and move around to make the yard look nice again. Once I do that, I will show you all a picture! Later that evening, I threw some chicken on the grill and made dinner for my family. Lea had set some chicken in the fridge to marinate in the morning, so it was soaking all day. It tasted delicious. Though the chicken was a little off. We tried to buy from a different place, and we did not like it, lol. It was too chewy. The rest of the night was spent playing with Mr. O and relaxing.
On Tuesday evening, Lea came home to Mr. O and me playing outside in the driveway. He was inspecting his car, once again, and using his shovel to dig in an old flower pot we had sitting out next to our porch. She joined us, and we got some sun for about an hour before we wanted to make dinner. Wednesday was similar to the previous night. We ate dinner and played. I learned Mr. O likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse all of a sudden, lol. He has a stuffed Mickey Mouse doll he has never played with, and now it’s one of his favorites! He’s been sleeping with it too. It’s adorable. All three of us were so tired Wednesday night, I don’t even know how to explain it, lol. Mr. O knocked out quickly. Lea went straight to bed after we put him down, and I went to watch an episode of Smallville, but my eyes were so heavy that I couldn’t finish it. I shut it off and went to lie down upstairs. I tried to scroll on my phone for a few minutes, and it was an epic fail. My eyes slammed shut, then I woke up a few minutes later holding my phone up in the same position, lol. Some random video was playing. I always freak out when I do that because I don’t know if I liked or shared anything while holding my phone and being knocked out! Even worse, what if I posted a video!
Thursday was the same old stuff. However, on Thursday night, I played Baldur’s Gate 3 with one of my friends for the first time in weeks. This time, instead of playing our brand new campaign, I was able to add him to my current one. I’m in the final act of the story, so he is going to help me finish it. It was really fun! It’s always a good time hanging out with good friends, even if it’s over the internet. On Friday morning, Mr. O slept in and gave me time to fire off a quick blog about the White Sox and their potential sale in nine years. It sounds so ridiculous typing it out again. I won’t go on about it here, but you can find that post and read it if you’d like. After work, I cut the grass because we had a busy (and rainy) weekend ahead, so I wanted to get it out of the way. Once I finished and cleaned myself up, we played with Mr. O for a little bit and then put him down for the night. Then, Lea made a quick dinner, and we watched two episodes of The Sopranos. Again, we were both getting really tired, so we went upstairs and passed out pretty quickly.
Saturday was our busiest day this week! After I woke up, I worked out downstairs, then spent, maybe, thirty minutes trying to get this dang splinter out of my finger, lol. It was deep in my skin and took forever to get out. Once Mr. O was up, I fed him some cereal, and we watched some of his shows. Then, it was time for us all to get ready. Lea and Mr. O were heading over to Illinois. They were meeting my mom at my cousin’s wedding shower (bridal shower?), and it was about an hour drive, I think, so Lea wanted to get on the road right before Mr. O’s nap time so he could sleep in the car (spoiler: He didn’t). As for me, I had a dentist appointment that I could not reschedule, since this was my rescheduled appointment from April, lol. When I arrived, I was the only one there, so they took me back right away. They did a few X-rays and told me once again my teeth looked great (not so humble brag). I was a bit nervous because I’ve had a few instances where I had cavities and they had to be taken care of, but I’m glad this time went smoothly!
Once I left the dentist, I went to pick up one of my friends who was in town for the weekend. We went to my uncle’s sixty-fifth birthday party. It was at my aunt’s and uncle’s home, and it was a lot of fun. Some of our family was there and some of his friends. The food was good too! Eventually, Lea and Mr. O showed up, and, of course, he was the life of the party. Everybody knows and loves this kid, it’s like he’s a celebrity. About an hour after they arrived, my friend and I had to leave. This weekend was also my church’s festival, where they sell a bunch of delicious food. They also have a beer tent, sell raffle tickets for big prizes, and lots of Greek music. We were headed there, but we had to make a stop at another friend’s house on the way. Well, another friend’s parents’ house, lol. Both of my friends were back in town for the weekend, and we had planned to go to the festival together, but one of them, let’s call him Toby, wanted to show us his moped that he recently bought. Admittedly, I was too nervous to go on it. I tried going to the end of the driveway, but it was too jerky for me, and I wanted no part in it, lol. After a few minutes of him trying to peer pressure me, we decided to leave and head to the festival.
It was a lot of fun. We found a table to eat at outside and went to grab our food. We sat and talked for a couple of hours. It was almost like there hadn’t been fifty-plus miles between us the last few years. We picked up right where we left off. Once we finished eating and wrapped up our conversation, we left to go back to Toby’s parents’ house to hang out. It was like we were back in high school, but still fun lol. On our way there, they wanted to stop at Smoothie King for…well, smoothies. There was zero chance I could fit anything else in my stomach that night, so I didn’t get anything. Although I might go back there soon to get a drink, because they all looked so good. Once we arrived back at Toby’s, we tried to get a fire going outside, but it became too cold.

So, we went inside one of the coziest basements I’ve ever been in. I tell him all the time, but I love his parents’ house. It’s always felt so cozy, and I don’t know how else to describe it. We ended up watching that Dungeons and Dragons movie with Chris Pine. I forgot what the actual title is, but the first half of it was good. We didn’t finish it all because it was getting late and I was tired. I also had to drive our other friend home, and Toby had to drive back to Chicago because he wanted to sleep in his own home, lol. I finally got home around ten thirty or eleven-ish.
Sunday was another energy-draining day. Mr. O hasn’t been feeling well, and he was whiny and had normal two-year-old tantrums all day. We all went to Menards because I needed to buy a wheelbarrow and a shovel for the yard, and Mr. O was not having it. So, Lea and him had to go sit in the car, where he continued his tantrum and wouldn’t sit in his car seat until I came out and said we were going home. Then, when we got home, he went down for a nap, and I put together the wheelbarrow. I was supposed to dig all the rocks out of the dirt the concrete company left in our yard, but by the time I finished putting that together, I was so tired, my back was hurting, it was hot out, and I just didn’t want to. I was also frustrated all day because we couldn’t figure out what Mr. O’s deal was, and, as any parent knows, it’s exhausting when your toddler isn’t feeling well and not behaving like they normally do. So, looking over all the dirt made me feel overwhelmed and even more frustrated because I started thinking about where the heck I was going to put it all after I dug it out. I eventually took everything back into the garage and made it a problem for future me. That’s okay. I’ll figure it out another day.
After I cleaned myself up, I went to the grocery store, and when I came home, Mr. O was up and still scary as ever, lol. He was a little better after his nap, but he had moments where he was still showing signs of not feeling well. He’s had this nasty dry cough for the last few days and a runny nose. We think he might be teething, and that is what’s causing all of this. Our poor boy! He will feel better soon. After snuggling him for a while, Lea went back to our church’s festival to pick up dinner for us. She brought home a chicken, gyros, pastichio, and a couple of extra meals for Monday. The rest of the night was a mixture of trying to play with Mr. O and trying to relax with Mr. O. Eventually, he went to sleep. He’s sleeping as I type this, but I don’t know how long that’s going to last. He’s been coughing like crazy, and he keeps sitting up and flopping back down. I hope he feels better soon.
Overall, it was a good week. We’ve had better ones, lol. I hope you all had a great week!
Peter
