Weekly Review 37

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Monday was Memorial Day in the United States, so I had the day off from work. When Mr. O woke up, we started our week off with some spookiness. We went downstairs, I made him breakfast, and we turned on Scooby Doo cartoons. I love how much he’s enjoying these episodes! He obviously loves Scooby, but he even kind of likes the “monsters” too, lol. He hasn’t been scared of the show yet. About an hour later, Lea woke up (we let her sleep in. We had a long night due to the wedding and all). While she spent time with Mr. O, I did the laundry and then cut the grass. Once that was finished, I put together Mr. O’s brand-new car! My aunt bought it for him for his birthday earlier this year. Now that it’s warm enough outside, we decided it was time to put it together.

Unfortunately, it was too cold on Monday, and then it rained the rest of the week, so we didn’t show it to him on this day. However, he did receive a nice surprise from me! I ordered him one of the new Superman action figures from the upcoming movie (I don’t know if I’ve mentioned before, but there’s a new Superman movie coming out July 11th, 2025). He loves it, and I loved watching how excited he was to play with it. He keeps reenacting the teaser trailer scene, though, when Superman falls out of the sky, is coughing up blood, and whistles for Krypto (his dog) to drag him by his cape back to the Fortress of Solitude. I don’t know why, but Mr. O loves that scene, lol. So, he repeatedly slammed Superman onto the ground and made groaning noises (like the movie clip) and then dragged him by his cape across the room. It was adorable. While he was playing, I was resting a bit, and Lea went shopping for some new clothes. My back was killing me, so I wanted to sit down and give it a rest.

The keyword is “wanted”. Just because I wanted to do something doesn’t mean I was able to (or allowed, I should say!). Lately, and I’m not complaining because I know it won’t last forever, whenever I sit down, Mr. O immediately comes to grab my hand and say “Play? Play?” in the cutest little voice. So, of course, I got up to play with him. After a while, he became bored with me. So I started to make dinner. We had nachos that night!

On Tuesday morning, we were back to our normal pre-work routines. I got Mr. O out of bed, brushed his teeth, and we watched the trash and recycling trucks from our bedroom window as they came by to pick everything up. He loves seeing those big trucks. He stares in awe every week and screams “Truck! Truck!”, lol. Once the trucks left, he finally let me clip his nails. We joined Lea in our bathroom while she was finishing up her routine before she left for work. Mr. O is so fascinated by everything his mama does. Whether she’s drying her hair or putting on her makeup, he can’t help but stare! On Tuesday night, I grilled burgers. It was a beautiful night, and it was made even better by delicious cheeseburgers. I’ve been taking on more cooking responsibilities lately, and I have to say, it’s not that bad.

Wednesday morning was business as usual. Fast forwarding to Wednesday night: It was just me and Mr. O. We cuddled on the couch until it was time for bed. He’s been a very sleepy boy lately. We think he’s growing again (what else is new, lol). After he went down for the night, I was able to find some energy to get a decent workout in. Once I finished in the basement and cleaned myself up, I continued working on the Journalism course I had started a couple of weeks ago. Recently, I’ve realized this is something I am interested in, and would be interested in doing professionally (someday, maybe). At the very least, I am trying out some free courses and earning some certificates (hopefully) in order to learn more about the field and to enhance my writing in some ways. I’ve spoken on this before, but I really wish I had realized my enjoyment of writing earlier in life. I could have been an established journalist by now! It’s okay, though, things work out the way they do for a reason. I believe that one hundred percent, and if this is meant to be for me, it’ll work out in its own time. Of course, I will still try to push it along. We will see what happens!

Thursday was a boring day. This will be a very short review, lol. After work, I went to get a haircut and then Lea and I watched The Sopranos. That’s it! On Friday, Lea and Mr. O left the house around 10 AM. They were headed down to my in-laws for our niece’s Taylor Swift-themed birthday party. I wasn’t invited. I’m just kidding, lol. I couldn’t go because I only have so much time to take off from work. So instead of attending this party, I took a Friday off in June for our other niece’s first birthday. Anyways, I had the house to myself on Friday. Work could not end fast enough! Around 3:30 pm, I ordered a well-done Hawaiian pizza from Aurelio’s. Spare me your disgusted face, please. Pineapple on pizza is so good, and the crispy crust makes it even better.

I ordered it online, and I scheduled it for around 5 pm. Well, guess what? At 4 pm, my doorbell rang. It was the deliveryman with my pizza. I was so confused and a little upset. I was still working, and I wanted the pizza to show up as I was finishing up work, so it would be fresh. I had it timed perfectly! I was going to close my laptop, the doorbell would ring, I’d answer it, collect my pizza, put on a movie, and relax. Things don’t always go as planned, I guess. I answered the door, and he handed me my pizza. I asked him, “I thought this wasn’t coming for another hour?” He very politely asked, “Did you order it through mobile online? It screws up the times.” Makes sense, I thought.  Then, he asks, “Is that okay?”, lol. I replied, “Yes…I mean, the pizza is here, so it has to be,” and we both awkwardly laughed. I didn’t mean for it to come off as rude, and I hope it didn’t. He was very nice about it all.

As it turns out, I ended up being very happy it came early. I kept it in the oven for the last hour of work, so it stayed just a little bit warm. It was still crispy, and the pineapple on it was delicious. I enjoyed it more than I would have had I eaten it fresh. It would have been too hot. Now that I was eating my pizza, reclining in my chair, I put on the movie Dune. I’ve never seen it, so I wanted to give it a try. It was okay. I turned it off about halfway through because I was having trouble following. I couldn’t keep up with all the strange names, and the story was a bit weird. I ended up binge-watching season one of The Rehearsal on HBO Max instead. It could have been a great night alone, but the pizza upset my stomach, lol. I have some issues, and pizza typically doesn’t help it, but I’ve been feeling better, so I wanted to order it again.

I ended up having a massive stomach ache, a food baby (which is what I call it when I’m bloated right after I eat), and ended up in a “food coma”, meaning I was lying in my recliner and couldn’t move. Just staring blankly at the TV. The rest of the night was okay. I tried to relax, but I was so uncomfortable that I gave up and went to bed. I tried to, anyway. At 2 AM, I was awake with another stomach ache. I chugged water and took some Tums. I’m so happy it worked because I was able to pass out again without too much trouble. Before I knew it, I was awake, and it was Saturday. I woke up to a text from my beautiful bride that said, “Will be home by 9.” I checked the time, and it was 7:30. Only an hour and a half of peace and quiet left! I quickly showered, ate breakfast, and laid down on the couch, desperately trying to relax. It was hopeless. Before I knew it, they were back. Don’t get me wrong, I was obviously happy that they were home, lol. Mr. O ran through the door with that big smile on his face. Giggling “Dada” as he ran to me for a big hug. My little man! It was adorable.

We quickly changed his clothes to get him ready for his last soccer practice of the year. He had fun and participated a little bit towards the end. He received a medal and a certificate. Then, he took a cute picture with two of his friends. After practice, Lea, Mr. O, and I went out to eat at Cedar Lake Kitchen. We had fun and the food was good, as usual. When we got home, Mr. O was crabby, so we put him down for a nap. Lea was also exhausted from the night before, so she took a nap too. Remember weeks ago when I mentioned our little tree didn’t survive the storm? It turns out our builder/HOA does not replace trees due to storm damage. So I went out looking for a new tree to plant in our parkway. I think I found one, but I need to make sure this place has it and can plant it for us. I will keep you updated on that. When I came home, Mr. O woke up shortly after, and we showed him his new car. He loves it so much!

We were outside for a long time. He loves climbing in and out of it, taking the shovel off the back and pretending to dig, and occasionally “driving” up and down the sidewalk (I control it with the remote. Don’t tell him!). After a while, we had to go back inside the house for dinner. He was not happy, but his attitude changed when we gave him a snack, lol. Before we knew it, it was bedtime. Mr. O and I went upstairs to play for a little bit, then we gave him a bath and he went to sleep. Lea and I finished the night watching The Sopranos. We are in the last season!

On Sunday, Mr. O was up before me. The little guy was up at 6 AM, and I woke up at 6:30. After I ate, I went to grab him. We came downstairs and watched this dinosaur video on YouTube that he’s obsessed with lately. I made him breakfast and changed the show to another episode of Scooby Doo. He’s so funny when we watch that. His little giggles are so cute. After one episode (and once he ate his food), we turned the TV off. It was play time! We grabbed his digging tools and pretended to dig in his ball pit. We were scooping up the balls like crazy and were having a blast. Most of the day was spent playing. Mostly inside, but a couple of hours outside as well. I drove Mr. O around in his car until he was sick of it. Then, he pulled out his wagon and pushed it around the sidewalk.

Lea brought out his chalk, and he instantly loved playing with that. He drew all over the place. Mostly squiggly lines, lol. Then, Lea decided to clean off our porch while Mr. O played with his T-ball set. It was a lot of fun, but it eventually came to an end. We had to go inside to make dinner! The rest of the night was fun too. We played inside and then relaxed a bit before bed. It was a great week.
