Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

It was Monday, and I had the day off. I had an appointment scheduled, but I wasn’t sure how long it would take, so I just took the whole day off. It was a nice little break. I came downstairs early in the morning to do the dishes, and then Mr. O was up, so we relaxed and watched some train videos. We’ve been bad about TV time lately; we need to be better! However, our little man has not been feeling well lately, so I figured a day of rest and his favorite shows would do him some good.
Later that morning, we played for almost two hours, and then I put him down for a nap. Then, my mom came over to stay with Mr. O while he napped so I could head out to my appointment. When I came home, the little fella was still knocked out, so I ate our leftover lasagna from the night before and watched some TV. When he woke up, we played some more, and before we knew it, Lea was home from work! Since she was home, I had a little time to trim the edges before she started making dinner. So I finally fixed the string that I hate so much and trimmed around our house and fence line. It finally looks good, lol.
Later that night, I finished the movie I started the week prior: Singin’ in the Rain. It was an okay movie. I didn’t feel any way about it, honestly. I gave it four stars on Letterboxd (I think) because when I watched the majority of it, I was entertained a little bit, but when I watched the ending on Monday night, it didn’t grab my attention like it did before. After the movie, I turned on the NBA playoffs because I wanted something on in the background while I scrolled on my phone.
On Tuesday morning, Mr. O woke up congested again, and I felt terrible for him. I can’t stand when he is sick, and it’s not him being sick that irritates me, it’s the fact that I can’t do much to help him, you know? All Lea and I can do is wipe his runny nose and give him his medicine every once in a while. We occasionally gave him a nasal spray, and it helps for a little bit, but not too much. I feel bad for him because I know how it feels! We all do. Although he was not feeling well, Mr. O still had all his energy. So we played Tuesday evening by “diving” in and out of his “pool”, aka his ball pit, while Lea cheered us on!
When Mr. O went to sleep for the night, I took a nice evening stroll around the neighborhood. It was beautiful outside and so peaceful and quiet. I had my headphones on, but I still know how quiet it was lol. When I came home, I went downstairs and got a good workout in. I recently realized I am in desperate need of ab workouts, cardio, and planks. I regret to inform all those who love my body that I am starting to grow a bit of a gut. I don’t like it at all, so I am trying to eat better, as well as doing all those things I listed above. We will see how it goes. I’m only 31! I don’t think I should have rock-hard abs, but I also don’t think I should have a gut. Especially if I am capable of exercising and eating well (which I am), so I have no excuse!
On Wednesday morning, Mr. O and I played for a little bit, then I did the dishes while he drove his cars around the kitchen. My workday was rough. It was super busy, and since we haven’t had much work to do recently, it was like a shock to the system, or whatever the phrase is, to receive that much work again. It’s good, though. It’s good for the brain to have work to do. It just stinks when it’s not work you truly enjoy, but that’s life, right? Can’t have everything you want. I’d say, for the most part, I have everything I’ve wanted, so I can deal with a job I’m not super passionate about for a while.
After work, Mr. O and I played some more. Lea was home from work too, but she was making dinner and laughing at us being goofy (per usual) lol. While she was cooking, I was flying Mr. O around the house. “Fly! Fly!” he looks up at me and screams. He is so adorable, I love it when he does that. He’s also very heavy, though, so we only “flew” a few times before I had to let him cry and get over that we weren’t going to be doing it anymore that night. It’s sad, but my back was hurting lol. Later in the evening, I hopped online to play Baldur’s Gate 3 with my buddy from college, and that is how I spent the rest of my Wednesday.
On Thursday, I played with Mr. O a little bit before work, and then my mom came over to watch him, so it was time for me to lock myself in my office. I was doing that, but it’s necessary. It was another long, busy day at the “office”. On my lunch break, I finally ordered a leaf blower lol. It sounds random, but it’s not! Not to me, anyway. I haven’t had one, and I’ve been trying to sweep up the leftover grass on the sidewalks and driveway after I mow, and it has not gone well. So, I found one at a reasonable price and ordered it. After work, Mr. O kept saying “Ousside? Ousside?” while pointing his cute little finger at the back door. We went outside and played for about ten minutes before I convinced him to go back inside. It was too cold and windy! The rest of the night was relaxing. We ate dinner, then Lea and I watched a couple of episodes of The Sopranos.
I didn’t realize how exhausted I was from the week until I tried to wake up on Friday morning. I had my alarms set at my normal times: 5:30 am, 5:45 am, 6:00 am. I slept through all of them! I haven’t done that in so long. It felt incredible, but then that feeling quickly went away when I realized I had to rush to shower, get dressed, get Mr. O out of his bed, and then get my stuff ready for work. It was totally worth it, though lol. It was finally the end of a long week at work! On Friday night, I went to my mom’s house to dog sit, which meant spending the night. I took my PS5 and gamed with my friend lol. We played Baldur’s Gate 3 again, and I also made time to play my other games I’ve been neglecting, like Red Dead Redemption 2 and NBA 2K25. It was a fun night, and I enjoyed spending time with my mom’s dog, Sparty. He’s a good boy.
My drive home on Saturday morning was really nice. It was beautiful outside, finally! When I came home, I showered, then while Lea was getting ready for Mr. O’s soccer practice, he and I were downstairs dancing to his birthday playlist lol. He’s so cute, it was so fun. Soccer was fun…I guess. It was warm at least. Mr. O had no interest again and was doing his own thing. It can be frustrating sometimes, but I have to remind myself he just turned two. He’s not going to be interested in this kind of stuff yet. Also, we want to let him be himself and don’t want to force him to like sports or anything. We want him to love things because he loves them, not because we want him to. So we let him run around and climb things and play with rocks. It’s what he loves.
After soccer, it took about twenty minutes to get Mr. O back in the car seat lol. When we finally got home, we put him down for a nap, and I went to take some pictures of my next Exploring the Region historical spotlight, so I will be writing that up soon! When I finished taking pictures at the park, I went to Sam’s Club to pick up an order Lea had made and then stopped at Chick-fil-A so Lea and I could eat lunch. Later in the afternoon, I cut the grass and then ordered dinner (since it was Mother’s Day weekend). Lea and I ended the night binge-watching The Sopranos again. We are flying through this show!
Sunday was Mother’s Day, and let me just say…Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms out there. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already saw the pics I put up of Lea, but if you did not, let me just say again, happy Mother’s Day to my wonderful wife, who is a fantastic mother. We love you so much, Lea! Thank you for all you do for us (which is a lot because she is here 99% of the time, contrary to some beliefs). We spent the morning with the windows open while we played and danced around with Mr. O. I love the smell of summer air in the morning pouring through the house. Something about it is nostalgic. When Mr. O went down for a nap, I took a quick trip to the grocery store. When I came home, we ate lunch quickly, Mr. O woke up, and we headed off to our annual Mother’s Day picnic on the lake!

This year, it did not last too long. Mr. O was too adventurous (which is fine), and Lea was left all alone at the picnic because I had to chase the little monster around to make sure he didn’t get hurt or fall into the lake. It’s okay, though, we made it up to Lea by swinging by Dairy Queen on our way home. For dinner, I fired up the grill and made a few cheeseburgers. It’s been a very long time since I’ve used the grill. I forgot how nice it is to cook on it. In the evening, when Mr. O went to bed and Lea wanted to relax and read, I went for a stroll around the neighborhood. It was so beautiful outside! The moon was placed perfectly in the sky. I don’t know how to explain it, but it felt centered, and it was very, very clear. I tried to take a pic on my phone, but it didn’t do it justice. It looked fake, I don’t know how else to describe it, lol. It was just so clear, right there in my face. Anyway, it was nice to see, and the walk was great. It’s so nice to be able to walk around at night and not have to worry or be afraid. It was the perfect way to end my week.
I hope you all had a great week, and I hope this one is even better!
Peter
