Hi, happy Monday! Welcome to my weekly review. That’s what I’m calling these posts now; the ones where I tell you about the week I had and everything that’s happened and my thoughts about things. One of my goals for the year was to have more of a routine on here. I wanted to be on a schedule and I think I finally figured it out. So every Sunday night I’ll write up my review of the week, publish it Monday, and then continue from there. Throughout the week if I have anything else to talk about I’ll post, but if not, at least my readers will know they will have a fresh blog on Monday mornings.
So let me just start by saying this past week was horrible. Monday was normal. Everything was fine and went as planned, but Tuesday morning was brutal for Lea and I. Both of us woke up in the middle of the night/early morning with flu-like symptoms. Head and stomach aches, nausea, dizziness, etc. It was terrible. We got hit hard and we weren’t sure what it was from. There are two options: A) we caught some sort of virus at the children’s museum or B) we had food poisoning from the dinner we ordered on that prior Sunday. Either way, it was not good!
We were out of commission pretty much all week. The dizziness and nausea made it hard to get up and do things. Forget about working – that wasn’t happening! Thankfully, my mom was able to come over for a few days and watch Mr. O while we recovered upstairs. As the week went on we both started feeling better, thankfully. By Thursday I was working (from home) and I had Friday off. I was feeling a lot better but I didn’t want to chance going into the office Thursday and getting anyone else sick with whatever we had.
Having Friday off was such a blessing. I had taken that day off months ago because an old friend of mine was getting married this past weekend. Unfortunately though, we had to cancel our plans to go and celebrate the happy couple. It was for the best. Similar to work, I didn’t want to get anyone else sick if we were contagious. Especially the bride and groom. As much as we would have loved to be there, I’m glad we didn’t go. I would have felt horrible if we passed this along! On Friday night our sister-in-law and one of our nieces came into town to visit and help us out around the house since we were low on energy. Well our sister-in-law came to help. Our niece is only a few months old so she didn’t help in the physical way lol but her little smile helped and did wonders for our mental health! Also, I’m saying “our” sister-in-law because technically it’s Lea’s, but that would make her mine too, right? Lol I think I’m right, but felt like I should explain that. It sounded weird typing it out. Like Lea and I were siblings or something I don’t know. Gross!
By Sunday I was feeling great. Lea was doing okay too. She is slowly getting better. It helps that I’m feeling better now because I can handle Mr. O while she relaxes. We were looking forward to this day all week because the Chicago Bears played the Indianapolis Colts and it was a big rivalry game in our house. We’re a house divided when it comes to the NFL and I regret to inform those of you who didn’t watch the game that the Colts bested the Bears and we suffered another humiliating loss. Yes, that means Lea’s team won and she has bragging rights. It’s a horrible feeling. I even wore my “lucky” Ditka jersey, but it didn’t help. I’m starting to think my jersey’s aren’t lucky at all. On the bright side, Caleb Williams (the Bears starting QB) played really well. I was happy with what I saw from him and I know other fans were too.

Now allow me to complain really quick! The Bears head coach and offensive coordinator MUST BE FIRED IMMEDIATELY. They are embarrassing this team and us fans. They are hurting our brand new quarterback with their dumb play calling and terrible coaching. Forget how terrible the offensive line is, it starts at the top. The head coach and OC need to be gone before the next game. This loss was embarrassing. The Colts are not a good team. They were 0-2 coming into this game I don’t understand how the Bears lost. It was a close game but it shouldn’t have been. Chicago should have had a double-digit lead.
Phew. That felt good. Besides that, it was the perfect Sunday afternoon for football. It’s the first day of fall, it was gloomy and rainy outside with cooler weather pouring in through the windows. It was a really nice day to spend with my wife and son.
Overall, the horrible week ended almost perfectly. I’m feeling 100% and am actually a little excited to get out of the house and head into Chicago for work to start the week.
I hope all of my readers have a great week!
Peter
