I need to complain

Yesterday was a little miserable for me and I can’t think of a better place to complain than my own blog. I hope it’s okay with my readers. I don’t think I complain that much on here…lol.

I thought I was going to get hypothermia yesterday at work. Am I being dramatic? Possibly. But let me explain first then you can make up your mind.

Around 6:30am when I arrived at the train station the sky looked dark and gloomy. The trees were blowing in the wind and you can tell that a storm was coming. So I grabbed my umbrella and got on the train. Forty minutes later we are at my stop in Chicago. I step off and notice it’s raining very hard. So I take the tunnel to get across the street. No big deal there. Once I come up from the tunnel though, the rain is coming down with a force!

I quickly opened my umbrella and started walking my normal route to the office. I figured it would slow down eventually. Hopefully sooner than I expected. Nope. It started raining even harder. So hard, in fact, the sidewalks were flooding. Which meant my shoes were filled with water and my socks were cold, wet, and spongy. Gross! Nobody likes walking in wet socks.

By the time I got to my office of course the rain slows down. I also noticed I was soaking wet from my feet up to my knees. Obviously, I did not bring a change of clothes so I had to stick it out in soaking wet clothes almost all day. I took my flannel off to let it hang from my locker door and dry at my desk. But the main issue for me was my pants, shoes, and socks. They were not drying any time soon. Now, let me explain why I thought I was going to get hypothermia. On top of being soaking wet, my office was FREEZING! It was so cold in there today and there’s no way to change it because I think it’s a set temperature for the entire building. So I can’t just change it for our floor. I was shaking and shivering all day. Finally towards the end of the day I was able to put my flannel on and get my top half warmed up a little bit. But my feet and legs were still so cold.

When it was time to leave I stepped outside into the heat and I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated it more. So, what do you think? Was I being dramatic? If I’m going to answer honestly I will say yeah, maybe a little bit. But hey, I was cold! It felt amazing coming home and changing out of those damp clothes. I hope it’s better weather tomorrow.

  1. Feel free to complain whenever you need to. And I think you had reason to complain, I hate having to deal with cold, wet clothes when it rains. Hopefully, the weather will improve for you.
