WP Prompt: What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

I once saw a video that said “when you raise a son you’re raising your replacement”.  

I knew this before I became a dad, but it didn’t hit me and sink in until my son was here.  It’s scary, in a way, thinking like that. Inevitably, I will be gone from this earth one day, but he will still be here, and I will live on through him. 

Therefore, my son is the legacy I want to leave behind. I want to leave behind someone who is God-fearing and trusts in the Lord. Someone who shows kindness and compassion to all and doesn’t stop trying to help people. 

I want to leave behind a man who stands up for those who can’t stand up for themselves and always does what’s right, even when it’s not the easiest thing to do. I want my son to be courageous.  

I want to leave behind a hard worker. Someone who knows the value of hard work and provides for his family. I want to leave behind a great father. Someone who has tons of love in his heart and goes above and beyond for his family. Someone who knows how to make people feel better by laughing. Someone who has strength and wisdom that he can pass down to his kids and to those around him. 

Most of all, I want to leave behind someone who is one – thousand – times the man and father I will ever be. The legacy I want to leave behind is my son.
