Superman casting update

I’m not sure if I mentioned it before, but recently at Cinema Con, it was revealed that the movie title Superman: Legacy has been changed to just Superman by DC Studios. 

I don’t mind it. In fact, I like it a lot. As cool as Superman: Legacy sounded, having a movie just called Superman will probably appeal more to the general audience. With having Legacy in the title it might seem like you have to watch other movies to understand it. I don’t know, but either way I like both titles so it doesn’t matter to me. 

In other news that broke today from The Wrap: ‘Superman’ Finds Jonathan Kent in Pruitt Taylor Vince | Exclusive. “James Gunn’s “Superman” has cast veteran character actor Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent aka Pa Kent.” I’ve been waiting for this casting for some time now, but once filming started I assumed the Kent’s wouldn’t be in the movie, which would have been upsetting because they are half of the reason Superman/Clark Kent is who he is. 

I don’t know anything about Pruitt Taylor Vince, I don’t think I’ve seen anything he’s been in (that I know of), but I trust the process and James Gunn/DC Studios so I have high hopes for this character. I’m sure he will do fine. When I saw the news I was unsure how to react. I hadn’t heard of the actor before so I didn’t know what to think, but he didn’t fit into my idea of Pa Kent. However, I always have my DC comic book twitter/X to reassure me that it’s a good casting.

One user even posted a panel from one Superman comic showing how the casting (based on looks at least) is pretty accurate. So, I do think this guy can pull off Jonathan Kent. It will be interesting to see how big his role is. Jonathan Kent is usually a character who is killed off, so I hope that’s not the case. I’d love to see the DCU Superman have an old Jonathan Kent around to provide guidance and wisdom for him, like in Superman The Animated Series, or Lois & Clark My Adventures with Superman. I’d like to see more of this character so I hope he lives for a while!

I’m still waiting on news of Martha Kent (Ma Kent) to be announced, so hopefully that is coming soon! If it comes tonight I will edit this post lol
