Hello everyone. There’s a lot to catch you up on. Some of it may be interesting, some it is probably not, but it’s my “job” as a personal blogger to tell you about my life. So that’s what I’m going to do!
We will start two weeks ago – on a Friday.
I went to the gym to play basketball once again. Dreading it the whole drive there because, as some of you know from one of my recent posts, I haven’t been having the best time playing lately. However, to my surprise, it was much more enjoyable that night. I’m not sure why. Maybe because I was playing well (for the first game at least), or maybe because I was sweating up a storm and losing some weight. Either way, it was enjoyable and I’m glad I went!
The following day, Saturday, I went to the Bulls game. I don’t drive to Chicago much, I find it to be a little scary and crazy at times, but I do occasionally. So I drove to the United Center and met up with my Godfather. He hadn’t been to a Bulls game in ages so he was really excited. As was I, but it was nice to see him so happy and passionate about the team. It was a really fun night, and to wrap this section up, I will say this – him and I are so opposite when it comes to being a fan lol. It was funny! He screams and cheers and stands up in his seat waving his arms around whether he is happy or upset. As for me, I like to keep to myself more and sit there quietly. Sometimes cheering loudly and mostly just clapping. I definitely stay seated haha. Anyway, it was a fun night and I hope we get to do it again sometime!
A couple days later was Monday. It was also my first day back into the office after being remote for only two weeks. It’s not as bad as I make it out to be, but it can be tiring. With the spring and summer coming up the commute should be much more enjoyable. Speaking of my commute, there are two books I’ve been reading on the train. One is new to me, and the other is a re-read because I don’t learn things after only reading through it once lol.
The new book is called Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. The beginning gives a historical background on the author, and the rest appears to be his thoughts, or, meditations. It’s supposedly a really eye – opening book. I’m not too far into it, but hopefully I can make some progress on it soon.
The book I am reading for a second time is Stephen King’s On Writing. I loved this book the first time through and have been itching to read it again, except this time I am highlighting things I want to remember and find easily. The book is awesome and I suggest it to anyone who wants to learn more about writing. Or about Stephen King’s life. He talks about that too. It’s fascinating.
On Tuesday (the day after my first day back in downtown Chicago) tragedy struck. I got sick. I woke up with a sore throat and congestion in my nose and ears. It was horrible. It lasted all week, which sucked because my in – laws came into town to stay with us for super bowl weekend. Unfortunately, I had to spend most of it in bed. When I say “in bed” I don’t mean my nice comfy bed. I mean the broken pull – out couch mattress in my home office. It was so uncomfortable but a few nights with NyQuil changed that. By super bowl Sunday I was finally starting to feel better. So that was nice being able to watch the game with everyone.
It was a good game, and I didn’t really care who won. I wore my Bears jersey in preparation for my team being in the championship game next season. The team should hopefully be really good so we will see what happens!
Fast forward through the week and it was the NBA trade deadline. As I discussed in my last Bulls rant, the organization made zero moves to better the team. Enough on that, I don’t need to rant again.
And finally, tonight, I am feeling great. My congestion has gone away for the most part and I am finally getting a chance to write a bit. Lea is in the chair next to me on Tiktok, and Seinfeld is on the TV because it’s our go – to show we put on for background noise. It should be a quiet weekend (which means it’ll be a fun weekend for us lol). I hope you all have a great night!
