WordPress writing prompt: what are your favorite sports to watch and play

Hello everyone and good evening from the region! I’ve been struggling to keep up with the blog lately so I wanted to take the easy way out tonight and use one of the prompts WP gives us each day.

“What are your favorite sports to watch and play?” they asked. While I have played soccer my whole life, I really never enjoyed watching it. It’s so boring to me on television, unless it’s the World Cup. Other than that I can’t stand watching it lol. For me, I think it’s obvious to my long – time readers…I love watching basketball.

I also enjoy playing it. I’m not sure why I enjoy it so much, because I am not that good at it, but something about playing a pick up game or shooting around is relaxing. At least it was. Recently I went to play a pick up game with some people at the gym that I’ve been going to. They’re nice and all but something about them throws me off a bit. They’re all friendly and clique-ish with each other, which is fine I don’t really care, but what bothers me is that they don’t even bother to remember my name lol. As if I don’t go there to play frequently. They just call me by the color of whatever shirt I’m wearing. I don’t know. It’s all so childish, even me complaining about it, but I wanted to get that off my chest.

This year I also enjoyed watching football. Growing up I was never a huge fan of the sport (although I wish I was. My dad always asked me to watch the Bears with him on Sunday’s after church, but most of the time I did not. Which is one of my regrets!). So I guess now that I actually like it I’ve been trying to spend time with Baby O every weekend to watch the Bears with him. I realize why my dad wanted to watch them with me so much – to spend time together. Hopefully as my son grows older he will enjoy watching the Bulls and the Bears with me (no matter how bad they are).

There’s a lesson in there somewhere for whoever is looking for one. Spend time with your dad! (or family in general).
