Happy New Year! 2024

Hello readers and happy new year!

Welcome to my first post of 2024. Before I get to my hopes for the new year, I just wanted to share a little life update (since I’ve been away from the blog for a bit).

Baby O is about to be 10 months old! He isn’t fully crawling, it’s more of an army crawl, but he gets where he’s trying to go. The kid also rolls everywhere. We’ve had to start changing him on the floor because he tries to roll off of whatever surface we’re changing him on lol. Obviously, we haven’t let that happen, but it’s scary!

The wife and I have been doing well also. Just the usually for us – wake up, take care of the baby, work, come home, take care of the baby lol. I know it sounds boring but it’s pretty great (minus the work part!).

Our Christmas was pretty good. It was baby O’s very first and he loved it. He got lots of presents but mostly played with the wrapping paper. I swear he spends too much time with our cats lol! Again, I watched my normal Christmas favorites: It’s a Wonderful Life, Home Alone (only 1&2. I don’t consider the other two part of that franchise), and the Santa clause trilogy.

I normally read a Christmas book every winter season, and I bought one for Christmas 2023 – The Nutcraker – but I could not get interested in it. I don’t know why but I have not been able to focus when I try to read lately. “Lately” meaning MONTHS!

We also continued the tradition my dad, brother and I had – we took Oliver to buy his very first Christmas ornament. He picked it out himself! I also bought a few and Lea got one as well. I’m so glad I get to start doing this with my own son every Christmas season.

On a sadder note, my grandfather (who I am named after) passed away a few days before Christmas. He was sick for a while so it was expected, which is sad to say but I know he’s much better now.

Overall it was a great Christmas (besides my grandfathers passing). Next weekend we are going to do Christmas with Lea’s family, so that should be fun for us all.

Okay let’s move on to my hopes for the new year (2024)! First, I hope to have good health and safety for my son, my wife, my mom and myself.

Second, I hope time slows down. Life moves too fast and my baby is growing at an incredible pace. I just wish it would slow down a little bit!

Third, I hope to spend even more time with my family. If I get that work from home job (the one I mentioned months ago, remember? Yeah they are taking forever with that.) it would make my life so much easier.

Fourth, I hope to be more relaxed and less stressed out this year. I don’t recall ever being this stressed when I was younger, but I guess that’s what working and parenting does to you? Lol.

And finally, I hope to live in the moment more. To be present for those who need me. I don’t want to worry about the future or be stuck in the past. I tend to think about the past too much and I want to try to move on from it this year.
