DC Comics Storylines Part 7

Hello and welcome back to my DC Comics storyline series! Here you’ll find my opinions on three recent books I’ve read from DC Comics and, hopefully, some suggestions for yourself if you become interested. I love reading these comics. They are so much fun and it’s nice to let my mind wander into a different world for a little bit. Let’s get started!

The Green Lantern Vol. 1: Intergalactic Lawman

This was a really good and exciting read. It was also my first Green Lantern comic that I’ve read lol. It was very interesting to me how it was written as sort of a thriller/detective story. Here is the summary from DC.com: “It all begins when Earth’s Green Lantern encounters a mysterious alien hiding in plain sight, setting off a chain of events that will bring the Green Lantern Corps to its knees. There’s an intergalactic conspiracy afoot, as well as a traitor in the Green Lantern Corps’ ranks…” I’ll stop quoting right here, it’s a long summary lol.

It’s a fun book, with fantastic art. As you can see, the story is really cool as well, and I had a hard time putting it down (at times. Sometimes I was in a slump and didn’t want to read lol). If you’re looking for something new to read, I suggest this one!

The Green Lantern Vol. 2: The Day the Stars Fell

This one picked up right where Vol. 1 left off. It was more of a multiverse story. I know I like the multiverse stuff, but I think it’s run it’s course. Everyone is using it in their movies and TV shows now, and it’s kind of annoying me. Normally, I would have really enjoyed this book, but I’m just tired of the multiverse storylines lol. Don’t get me wrong, the writing and art are great, but I couldn’t get myself into the story. But that’s just me! Here is the summary from DC.com: “Wherever Hal Jordan goes – from the crumbling city inside his Power Ring, to a fantasy planet of wizards and dragons – an entire Multiverse of allies old and new await to help him in his quest. But even though Hal can always count on partners like Green Arrow and Carol Ferris to be in his corner…he’ll have to face his greatest challenge alone.” That’s where I’m ending this summary too lol it’s a long one.

So, it has the potential to be fun, and maybe one day when I’m not sick of the multiverse story I will go back and re-read this to actually enjoy it. It was interesting, I’ll give it that!

Heroes in Crisis #1

I thought this one was fantastic! It’s written by Tom King, who I’ve mentioned wrote two of my favorite comics (Superman: Up in the Sky and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow). It’s such a different look at our DC heroes. In this story, the heroes have a place called Sanctuary – where they go to deal with their trauma. It’s kind of like a therapist, but with futuristic technology to help you instead of a human. Here is the summary from DC.com: “ Welcome to Sanctuary, an ultra – secret hospital for superheroes who’ve been traumatized by crime – fighting and cosmic combat. But something goes inexplicably wrong when many patients wind up dead, with two well – known operators as the prime suspects; Harley Quinn and Booster Gold! It’s up to the DC Trinity of Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman to investigate – but can they get the job done in the face of overwhelming opposition?”

This was such a fantastic start to this book. I cannot wait to read the next eight issues! It was so interesting and such a different take on the characters. You never think about superheroes needing therapy or being traumatized right? I really enjoyed this, and I think (if you’re interested) you will too. So give it a chance!

I hope you enjoyed this edition of DC Comics Storylines. Please share and subscribe!
