Superman: Legacy casting rumors

There are more rumors flying around this morning regarding the new Superman movie. I have to say, I am pleased with these rumors from a visual standpoint, but I can’t say I am excited based off of the acting skills of those rumored to be possibly cast, since I haven’t seen anything they’ve been in lol. Regardless, it’s exciting!

So, according to the Hollywood Reporter (HR), “David Corenswet, who recently played the ill – fated projectionist opposite Mia Goth in Pearl, is among the top contenders to play Kent, aka Superman, Advancing to the screen test stage that will likely take place after Memorial Day or early June.” I’ve had my eye on David Corenswet news regarding Superman: Legacy for a while, as he has been fan – casted ever since we found out Henry Cavill wouldn’t be returning to play the Man of Steel.

As I said, based on looks, this guy is perfect. If he bulks up, which he most likely will have to for the movie, he would look even better. If he is cast as the new Superman, you wont hear any complaining from me! Thanks to Superman Film News on Twitter, you can see who the actors being named are. As for Lois Lane, there are multiple women who are rumored to be up for the role. Per HR, “…contenders have been Emma Mackey, one of the stars of the Netflix series Sex Education…Rachel Brosnahan…Phoebe Dynevor; and Samara Weaving.” Thanks to Discussing Film, on Twitter, here are the pictures of the contenders:

Again, I don’t know about their acting skills, I’m assuming they are good, but based on looks and comparing them to the classic Lois Lane you see in the comics, I think they could all pull it off. Honestly, I think I’d be okay with any of them being cast lol. 

Finally, we have come to the big, bad villain, Lex Luthor. The HR states: “One role that seems to have only one person earmarked is the classic villain Luthor. Nicholas Hoult…has been tipped to play the bald – headed genius.” Apparently, his name has been going around Hollywood in connection to Superman: Legacy. So we will see what happens!

Although this is all exciting news, the Hollywood Reporters tells us that their “sources caution that some of these are not screen testing and have merely been in the mix…One source dismissed some of the names as “a chatroom list”.” So, we will just have to wait and see if James Gunn debunks any of this. Regardless, it’s so exciting hearing all the potential names for this movie. I can’t wait!
