With it being Christmas – time and all I figured now would be a good time to write up a post about my four favorite Christmas movies. I’m making a top four list because I cannot think of one more Christmas movie that I absolutely love to save my life! We all have our favorites, and I think some of my readers will agree with my list!
Let me start out by saying that these are listed in no particular order. It’s too hard for me to rank them because I enjoy them all so much!
Number 1: It’s a Wonderful Life
This one is one hundred percent my favorite Christmas movie. If you’ve never seen it, I highly recommend it. It’s about a man named George Bailey who is very frustrated with his life, and suddenly “An angel is sent from Heaven to help a desperately frustrated businessman by showing him what life would have been like if he had never existed. (per IMDB)”. It’s such a great movie and it really reminds you what Christmas is all about – God and family. It also sends a good message about how things will always turn around if you just have faith.
Number 2: Home Alone (the original)
This is obviously on my list, simply because I feel like it’s one of the greatest Christmas movies ever. The entire movie is just so wonderfully written and acted, how can one not like it? The idea of an eight year old being forgotten by his family as they went on a lavish Christmas vacation and having to defend his home from two dumb** burglars is hilarious and a genius idea. That’s why it makes my list. The movie itself is hilarious and I recommend it!
Number 3: The Santa Clause (the original)
Like the first two, I’m pretty sure my readers have seen this one. It’s very popular and I consider it a “Christmas classic”. “When a man inadvertently makes Santa fall off his roof on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place. (IMDB)”. Tim Allen is great and hilarious. The whole idea of Santa being chosen is so interesting to me, and I enjoy the visuals of the North Pole/Santa’s workshop and all the elves. Great movie!
Number 4: National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Believe it or not, it took me years to see this Christmas classic. I never watched it growing up. The first time I saw it was two years ago at my in-laws house, because my father-in-law loves it, and I agree! It’s hilarious! Chevy Chase is brilliant, the story is great, and the comedy is gold. If you’ve never seen it, I, once again, recommend it! “The Griswold family’s plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster. (IMDB)”.
These are my four must-watch movies every Christmas season. I have some time off tomorrow and Wednesday and I plan to watch all of these! What are some of your favorites? Let me know in the comments!
