Last wedding of the year & Halloween

Last weekend one of my best friends got married. I was honored to be a part of it and had a great time. Tonight I’ll tell you all about that and share some pictures! We’ll also [briefly] discuss the Bulls towards the end of the post. See below!

Last weekend was a blast. As I said above, one of my best friends from college got married, which means our little group had another chance to get together again and hang out all weekend. Our group consists of seven of us. We all met in college (besides my friends new wife), and have stuck together ever since. Sadly, they all live in the Indianapolis area, while my wife and I are up here in the region near my family.

Anyways, we always have a good time together and it’s always so wonderful to see them. Last Friday my wife and I drove down to Indy and, shortly after our arrival, the other two groomsmen and myself drove another hour to attend the rehearsal dinner and check into our hotel. If you’re wondering, Lea stayed behind with my friends wife and they drove down to the wedding the following day.

The rehearsal was….fun. I don’t know how what else to say, it was a rehearsal for a wedding and then a dinner. Are those ever really that fun? lol. After that all the groomsmen met at the restaurant/bar at the hotel and hung out for a few hours. It was a lot of fun! The Bulls were also playing that night so naturally I had it playing on my phone, periodically checking in on the score. After a few drinks and some chicken tenders, it was finally time for bed (Yes, I’m a grown man eating chicken tenders). We had a big day on Saturday!

So Saturday comes around and we get to the venue, which was beautiful by the way (as you’ll see in a couple pictures). It was on a farm and it looked much better than you think!

Since the wedding wasn’t until 4:30, we had the entire day to hang out in this little cabin the venue had for groomsmen. When I say little I mean LITTLE. There were six of us in there all day, so you know it got pretty hot. Oh and if you’re wondering, the bridal party was in a big house with great air conditioning. But hey, I’m not complaining!

FINALLY, it was time for the wedding. Did I mention I was standing up in the wedding by myself? No? Well I did, and it was actually really fun. Although it was a little awkward at first walking up and down the isle by myself, I finally found my confidence when it came to the reception entrance. Of course, I was the first one to be introduced and I’m not a dancer so I had no idea what to do. I HATE those cringy videos where groomsmen and bridesmaids try to be funny when they enter the reception. They are cringy and stupid (in my opinion). So, I did the least cringy thing I could think of in the moment, and I still felt cringy doing it. Right before the dj introduced me, I had just picked up a beautiful whiskey and coke drink from the bar, and I was not going to put it down. So as one does when feeling awkward with the whole room staring at them, I chugged the crap out of my drink. Needless to say, I was feeling pretty good by the time I got to the table. People clapped and cheered so it wasn’t as bad I thought it was going to be.

That picture right there is the good ol’ gang. It’s always a blast when we get together. After the wedding, the five of us drove back to Indy and crashed at our buddies place (the two on the right). We stayed up until one or two in the morning watching this scary movie. I think it was called Barbarian on HBO Max. It was weird. Overall, it was a great weekend with great people.

On Sunday Lea and I drove home and did absolutely nothing. It was fantastic. On Monday I worked until about 8pm, but I still helped pass out candy to the neighborhood kids who were trick-or-treating. We saw some interesting costumes. I think my favorite was a little boy dressed as Doc-Oc from Spiderman 2! He had the hat, the trench cote, and all the tentacles, which came in handy because he didn’t have to carry his basket full of candy. It was a good halloween.

Now, for the final segment of this post, we will talk about the Bulls quickly! Recently we’ve been to three or four games and they’ve all been a blast. It’s great to be back at the United Center. The team is doing alright, it’s still early in the season so I’m not going to complain about their record. They’ve shown they can handle themselves against some of the best teams in the Eastern conference. We will see how they do tonight again the Nets!

See? That was quick! Alright, it is time to wrap this up. I got two chicken pot pies in the oven, and a Bulls game about to come on. So I will talk to all of you again another day.
