Weekly Review 78

This week was filled with many different feelings. Due to the gloomy weather (and the storms), there were times where I felt aches all over my body, or exhaustion. There were also times where I felt great and we had lots of fun. I was all over the place this week in regards to my health, and hopefully with the spring season right around the corner I will finally start feeling well for longer periods of time. I’m not sure what’s been going on, but I feel like I’ve been sick or stuffy all winter long. Anyway, I’ll be fine. Now let’s get to the newest edition of my Weekly Review!

Welcome to my Weekly Review, where I share my previous week with you.

On Monday morning I was able to enjoy a quiet and peaceful breakfast before the rest of my family woke up. When I finished eating in the kitchen, I went back upstairs to lay down for a little bit. I was still tired, and I needed all the extra rest and quiet I could get before Mr. O woke up and work began. While I was laying down, I noticed the beautiful sunrise taking place right outside my window. I haven’t watched a sunrise in ages and I was reminded how beautiful of an experience it was. The light peeking over the distant, bare trees, which were swaying in the gentle wind. It was a great way to start the week.

When Mr. O woke up he wasn’t feeling well. We cuddled on the couch and watched Hotel Transylvania. He enjoys the “spooky” stuff, and he seemed to like this movie. The work day was long and tiring, but the evenings make it all worth it. Lea was in the kitchen making us dinner, while Mr. O and I hung out on the couch and relaxed. Then I gave him a bath and he went to sleep. I finished the night by playing Baldurs Gate 3 (BG3) with my friends.

On Tuesday I woke up early to work out. After I ate breakfast, I decided to do the dishes instead, since they were piled up in the sink. I didn’t want Lea to have to worry about doing them later on, since she ended up being up all night with Mr. O. Later that morning, she took him to the doctor (he’s okay). On my lunch break I walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and listened to sermons from this priest named Father Spyridon on YouTube. They’re so interesting and even peaceful. He’s either standing in the woods or on a farm, and the scenery in the background is so beautiful, along with the noises of the wind, or the animals rustling through the forests. He has great insight, in my opinion, on faith and God. It’s something I enjoy listening to, so if it sounds interesting to you just click his name and it should take you to his page.

When I wrapped up my walk, I went outside and put our porch chairs in the garage. We were in for a nasty storm later in the evening, and I didn’t want to deal with it when the storm was already here. Later in the evening, the storm had arrived. We were under a tornado watch here in the region, so we grabbed a few things and headed down into our basement to hang out for a bit. We laid down a rug, brought one of Mr. O’s old crib mattresses down to sit on along with a few pillows, and watched our favorite weather channel, Region Weather. He’s the best. While we were listening to that, I got in a decent workout with Mr. O. Yes, I said with Mr. O. He wanted to workout with me! I held him up to the pull-up bar and he pretended to pull himself up, Lol. As most people do with their children in these scarier scenarios, I wanted to let him have fun and make him laugh. I know he’s young and doesn’t even understand what a tornado is, but I just like having fun with him and it seemed like the right thing to do.

This kid was my biggest fan. “Woooahhh, Dada look at you lift that!” He yelled as I was on the bench press (I don’t lift that much, but I guess to him it’s a lot, Lol). Thankfully, “play time” (working out), took up most of the time we were down there. When we finished working out, we were only down in the basement for another 20-30 minutes or so, then we were in the clear and went back upstairs. The storms were still really bad all night, but our tornado threat had disappeared. I stayed up late switching back and forth to different weather channels to see updates on the storm. I wanted to make sure we were going to be fine before I went to sleep, and thankfully, we were!

Wednesday brought another rainy and gloomy day over here. Although, it didn’t bring rough storms like the night before, the downpour and rapid change in temperatures gave us nasty headaches throughout the day, and I’m convinced it’s what is causing my exhaustion as well. In the evening, Lea made us grilled cheese and salads. Then Mr. O and I played Rocket League on the PlayStation. We spent the rest of the night hanging out, and after he went to bed, I progressed in my personal BG3 campaign before calling it a night. There wasn’t much happening on this hump day. I think it was mostly due to the fact we were all feeling groggy from the weather, and tired from being up late the night before.

On Thursday morning I must have been knocked out cold, because my alarm was going off for 30 minutes before I finally woke up. Thankfully, Lea was not in the room with me this time (she was sleeping with Mr. O in the guest room because he wasn’t feeling well). However, I did have to go wake her (on her orders!) so she could get ready for work and take Mr. O to daycare on her way. While she was doing that, I laid in the bed with Mr. O while he continued sleeping. I watched the Samsung logo on the TV bounce around for, maybe, 15 minutes, desperately waiting for it to hit the corner of the screen and fit perfectly within it. I ended up disappointed, though, when I realized it was never going to happen.

  1. It was the word Samsung, not a box shape like the older TV’s had.
  2. I believe it’s programmed to never fully go to the corner of the screen.

HOWEVER, I do believe I missed it. I have written in my notes from that morning, “It gets so close but never fully there. I think I just missed it as I typed this in my notes.” I guess I’ll never know.

In the evening, we FaceTimed my grandma for her 90th birthday. She was so happy and excited to see us, but mostly Mr. O. She’s been down in Florida since Thanksgiving, staying at her daughters (my aunt). When we finished the call (or when Mr. O hung up), we ate dinner at the table. We’re trying to teach Mr. O table manners. It isn’t going well. After dinner, we gave him an early bath so we would have time to play before bed, since that’s what he likes to do at night. While in the bath, Mr. O requested – no, demanded – to listen to train sounds while he was in the tub. So, I found this playlist on Spotify called Railroad and Train Sounds. He loved it. Once he was ready to dry off and put his pajamas on, we played with his remote conrolled Lightning McQueen car. Eventually, he was ready for bed. We read three books, rocked in the chair and cuddled, and then I laid him down. I finished the night playing BG3 with my friends (We played a lot this week).

On Friday I changed my morning routine. Instead of cereal I made eggs. Not a big switch up, but it felt good to make a change. Then, since everyone was still sleeping, I grabbed three big bags of salt out of Lea’s car and put them in the garage temporarily (The bags of salt are for our water softener). When Mr. O woke up, we cuddled in bed for a while. Throughout the day the wind intensified. We were under a high wind warning in The Region, and it was no joke! Mr. O and I went to get the mail and it almost blew him into our yard, Lol. The poor kid was terrified. Then, our neighbor informed us the wind had destroyed our fence door. We haven’t even had the fence for a full year yet. It’s really aggravating, but it will get fixed eventually.

The door opens the other way, Lol. The 50-60 mph wind broke the hinges and bolt that was keeping it closed, and pushed it in the opposite direction. I swear, our house is in the worst spot when it comes to wind. We can’t have anything outside. We tried hanging our American Flag outside twice, and the wind snapped it off both times. It’s ridiculous, but as I said, it will get fixed.

In the evening, Mr. O and I cuddled and read more books. Then, I played BG3 again with my friends while Lea went to the movies with my mom.

On Saturday morning I made breakfast for Mr. O and I (Lea was still sleeping). I put on the movie Brave, but Mr. O wasn’t interested. He wanted to watch The Good Dinosaur instead, and oh my gosh, that main character, Arlo, is so annoying. I get it. I get that he is supposed to be that way, to show that you can overcome your fears and be strong and courageous. It’s a good message, I’m not arguing that, but Arlo is such a coward. I feel like they made him too much of a coward. He’s just plain annoying. And then he blames (spoiler warning) Spot for his dad’s death? Come on! It was obviously not Spots fault. Hey, I’m not saying it was Arlo’s fault, but I don’t think it was Spots.

When the movie was over, Mr. O and I played with his blocks and then put together his train tracks (again). When he napped, Lea and I went through photos for our photo album project. We’re printing photos to keep in a physical album and we had to see which one’s we wanted to print. Then when Mr. O woke up, we took him to Build a Bear for his birthday. Lea wants to do it every year until he’s 18, but I keep telling her he is not want to go anymore once he hits 13, Lol. He had fun this year, though. He picked out a Dinosaur and he also wanted the Birthday Bear, so we bought both (Ugh. We have to learn to say no sometimes. But it’s for his birthday, so what can we do? He’s only 3!).

After we left the mall, we went to dinner and then came home and gave Mr. O a bath. Then we let him have some playtime before bed again. Once again, and for the final time this week, I joined my buddies online and we played BG3. This time, however, was exciting. We officially finished Act 1 of Baldurs Gate! This game is massive and there’s so much to do and see. We kind of rushed through Act 1, mostly because we’ve all played it many times before. One of my friends, though, has never made it past Act 1, so now for Acts 2 and 3 we will take it slow and try to do everything. Here is a photo to commemorate our journey thus far:

Left to Right: Bob, Squilliam (me), Murkk, Shadowheart (built in character)

I’ve decided we are going to take more pictures throughout our journey, and at the end, when we finally finish the game and our questing has come to an end, I will make a slideshow video, with the song Good Riddance (Time of your Life) by Green Day playing over it. It will be so sweet (also funny. Probably more funny than sweet).

Now it is Sunday as I write this (as most of you know), and it’s been a good day. Mr. O is feeling GREAT. This kid slept in until 9 AM and is a big ball of energy. He actually just woke up from his nap a few minutes ago, so I have to wrap this up soon. We didn’t do much today. Mainly just household chores that you won’t care to read about. Overall, the week was good. It started rough, but it’s ending perfectly.

A Moment I’m Still Thinking About

To be honest, I can’t stop thinking about the wind breaking our fence door. It’s been bugging me all day, Lol. I know it will get fixed, but it’s just so frustrating! I know I usually have something more sentinmental in this section, but I can’t stop thinking about the fence and how much it might cost (if it’s not covered)!

What’s a moment from the previous week that you’re still thinking about? Let me know!
