Weekly Review 75

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Monday was a federal holiday here in the U.S.A. Thankfully, I was able to sleep in a little bit. Once I decided to get out of bed, I was able to some light reading before Mr. O woke up. When the little man evenutally awakened, we played upstairs in my room and watched Thomas the tank engine while we got ourselves ready for the day ahead. When we went downstairs we played again…and again…and again. We played all day, lol. When it was time for his nap Mr. O decided to sit in his crib and play with his stuffed animals (stuffies, as he likes to say) and after a while started calling for me. When I went into his room he told me, “Dada I wake up now”. He never went to sleep! It was clear he was not going to nap today. I brought him back downstairs and we played the rest of the day. Then, he begged to go to my mom’s house, so we dropped him off there and then Lea and I went on a little date to Texas Roadhouse. It was nice to go out just the two of us. After we picked him up and came home, I put the very tired boy down for the night. When I came back downstairs I found Lea had gone and bought us Dairy Queen blizzards. We ended the night eating ice cream and watching Bridgerton. Well, we thought the night was ending that way…Mr. O was not feeling well and eventually woke up. We all ended up not going back to bed until 2:30 AM!

On Tuesday I woke up around 7 AM. I guess that’s one of the benefits of working from home. My shift at work doesn’t start until 8:30, so I had some time to eat and get myself cleaned up for the day. Unfortunately, since we were up so late the night before, Mr. O slept in as well, which means I didn’t get to spend time with him before I clocked in. Maybe 20-30 minutes is all we had before I was locked in my office for the next 8 hours. After work, Lea made dinner and then we all relaxed and quietly played while watching American Idol. Lea and I were starting to get congested as well. Not a good sign!

Wednesday morning was brutal compared to the previous day. Mr. O was up and ready to go at 5:30 AM. He came and laid in our bed and we watched Bluey (one of his new obsessions) before heading into his bedroom to play with his cars. We raced them on the edge of his crib and we used a roll of toilet paper as a tunnel for them to drive through. It was a fun morning. After work, he chased me around upstairs while wearing his Superman cape. He had to “save the city”. Then we realized we were both tired and went downstairs to watch more Bluey. The rest of the night went as usual. Dinner, relax play, bedtime!

Thursday morning came quicker than I anticipated, and I found myself wondering where the week went. Sure, it was a “short week” due to the holiday, but it felt like the previous 4 days flew by! Mr. O and I were up and ready to go to daycare. On the way, he continued his relentless bullying of me: “Dada your car dirty? Dada why your window so dirty? Dada you clean your car? Dada I tell Rara your car dirty.” “Rara” is what he calls the woman who runs the daycare he attends. When we arrived at Rara’s, I took him inside and he gave me a big hug and said “Love you” before I left. He hasn’t done that in a while so it meant a lot to me. When I left I went to get a carwash, lol. I’m tired of him telling me how dirty it is! It was very dirty, though, because two houses down from ours, they are building a new house and the wind is carrying all the dirt from their lot over towards our house, and my car was covered. It was disgusting, actually! It looks great now, though. Lois is nice and clean (Lois is my car. Named after the best female character ever, Lois Lane). I had to name my car Lois because Lea said if we ever had a girl she didn’t want to name her that. Or a dog. So, my car is Lois.

In the evening, Lea made a new chicken dinner and pasta recipe. It sounds like a normal meal, but I don’t know what the ingredients were. It tasted delicious and different. Then, Lea gave Mr. O a bath and put him down for the night, while I started a new campaign on Baldurs Gate 3 (BG3) with three of our friends from college. We haven’t gamed together in a long time and it’s been so fun! My character is a High Elf Sorcerer. His name is Squilliam and he has blue skin and long, green hair that is wrapped up into a long pony tail that hangs down his back. I know, it’s a weird character, but it’s a Dungeons & Dragons based video game. Why would I make a normal character? Where’s the fun in that?! After a few hours, it was time to log off. When I went upstairs to lay down, Mr. O was not feeling well again (still?). I went and brought him to our bed and watched Bluey for a little bit, but his cough was really bad, so Lea took him downstairs to sleep with him in the recliner so he could sit up a little bit more. It was another late night for us all, but mostly for Lea and Mr. O. I’m so thankful for her. She takes care of all of us in this house so much.

On Friday I slept in again before a brutal workday began. One of our main systems/applications was down for more than half the day, and we had a ton of volume coming in. Thankfully, it all worked out in the end and my team and I were able to complete everything that was due and then some. I say “my team”, not because I am a manager, but because each week our senior analyst team rotates who is in charge for the week, and this week was my week. It typically runs smoothly, this was a one-off day where nothing was going right, lol. After work I played with Mr. O upstairs. He chased me around and then we “fished” from the upstairs onto our landing between our stairs. When it was time for bedtime, he wanted to wear his Buzz Lightyear pajamas. Then, we played and wresteled for a little bit before reading and going to bed. He was Buzz and I was the evil Emperor Zurg: “Not today Zurg!” he would scream before charging at me and tackling me. We went for three or four rounds. Mr. O/Buzz won them all. “I winnered!” he yelled each time. It was so much fun. When I went back downstairs it was time to play BG3 again with my buddies. We continued our quest looted everything along the way.

Alright, I’m noticing a pattern here in my notes. On Saturday I slept in AGAIN. I slept in a lot this week apparently. Hey, I’m not complaining, this post just feels a little repetitive now, but that’s okay. These posts are meant to be real and authentic, so I’m not going to change anything. I think it’s cool that my readers can read along as I type out my thoughts. Anyways, Mr. O was up and we went downstairs. He wanted to watch the Lego Batman movie, so I put that on for him as I made us breakfast. He had french toast sticks, a banana, and yogurt bites. I had a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios. We relaxed and watched the movie until we were done eating, then we went upstairs to play more. A few hours later, Mr. O went down for a nap and I was able to do a quick twenty-minute-or-so workout in the basement. Then I trimmed my beard (it was way too bushy) and cleaned myself up before I left for the Bulls game. I drove to the game with a few of my friends. It was a fun night! We went to the buffet at the United Center, ate (a lot), talked a bunch about sports and life, and then went to our seats and enjoyed the rest of our evening, even if the Bulls team is total garbage right now (I still love them). It was another late night and I went to bed around midnight.

When I woke up Sunday (the day I am writing this) I was very congested again. My ears were full, my nose was bothering me and my throat was scratchy. I decided to stay home and rest while Mr. O and Lea went to church. I can’t stand missing church but sometimes you have to. At this moment, I am writing this blog post and I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do next. Lea gave me two chores to do while they were gone: put some of our blankets in the wash, and come up with a grocery list of dinners we want this week. I already put the blankets in, and I have 4 dinners written down, but I can’t think of any more! I will try my best when I finish up this post. Which I believe I should do now 😦

It was a long and tiring week, but at least I was able to spend it with my family. I think my favorite part of this week was wresting with Mr. O as Buzz Lightyear and Zurg. He was so cute while we were doing that and his laugh is the most beautiful sound in the world. Maybe I’m biased, but that’s what I believe.

What part of your week did you enjoy the most?

Peter
