Happy New Year! I want to start by acknowledging that I know I’ve missed the last two Sunday Gospel posts. I apologize, I know some of you enjoy those, and I will get back on track with them soon! On Monday I was finally starting to feel better after that nasty illness kept me out of all Christmas activities. I’m not contagious anymore, but still feeling a bit out of it. When Mr. O woke up I brought him his milk and we sat in his room for a little bit until he was ready to get up. Throughout the day I had a major headache. It hasn’t hurt that bad in a long time. Monday was a boring day for me overall. I went to bed early, lol.
Tuesday was kind of the same way. I had a headache all day and tried my best to push through at work. I know that sounds lame since I work from home, but it takes a lot of brain power at my job and again, I rarely get headaches, so when I have one as powerful as this it was a rough, rough day. After work I tried to play with Mr. O a little bit. I gave him a bath, did bed time, and then went to sleep as well. Now Wednesday was much better for me! I was feeling better, the pressure mostly left my head, and I was off work for New Years Eve. Throughout the day our little family played with Mr. O’s new toys, did some laundry, and hung out most of the day. I still had low energy, so I did what I could. We spent most of the day playing and watching TV. We watched Nashville, a Disney movied called Bolt (which Mr. O loved), Peter Pan (he didn’t care too much for it), and played hide and seek. Mr. O’s rules were to hide where he told me, though. So that kind of stunk because he always found me right away. When he became bored of hide and seek, we went to play in his playroom for a bit while Lea made dinner. Later in the evening, we Lea and I hung out for a bit before we went to bed. No chance we were staying up until midnight, Lol.
Thursday was New Years Day, 2026! It’s so crazy to me how fast 2025 went by. I honestly don’t even remember what my goals for the year were then, but I have a few good ones to work on now. First, I want to work on being more grateful for everyting I have. My family, our house, my job (especially this one. I’ve struggled with being grateful for it). Next, I want to be kinder to people. I want to be more understanding and more patient. I really need to work on those things. Third, I want to pray more and become stronger in my faith. I want to build a stronger relationship with God. Finally, I want to actually set a workout routing and stick to it. These are just the order I wrote them down in my journal, not the actual order of importance. I hope I can achieve each goal this year.
On Thursday morning, Mr. O and I hung out for a while. We let Lea sleep in since she’s been doing everything for our family by herself while I have been sick. So, Mr. O wanted to watch his shows, and I did some journaling. It was a quiet, peaceful morning and a great start to the new year. In the afternoon, after Mr. O’s nap, we went to my moms house for dinner. One of my aunts and grandma were there as well. It was a fun day with great food and company. In the evening, we went my cousins house to hang out and play games. Mr. O had a blast running around with everyone, especially their dog, lol. By the time we came home, the little man was pooped (or so we thought). Mr. O ended up waking up in the middle of the night and came to sleep in our bed. He slept on top of me all night! I wouldn’t change these days for anything. He’s so sweet.
On Friday evening, we facetimed with my other grandma, who is currently down in Florida for the holidays with my aunt and her family. Mr. O was showing them his new toys and was excited to see them. Lea made us dinner while we played, and then Mr. O’s new train set was delivered! We let him pick it out a few days earlier and he was been waiting impatiently for it ever since! He loves it so much, he has played with it non-stop since we opened it up. On Saturday Mr. O and I played while having The Andy Griffith show on in the background. It’s such a great show of a much simpler time. I love it. Then, we went upstairs to help Lea deep clean our bathroom. Once Mr. O went down for a nap, I went outside to shovel and salt our driveway and I was exhausted afterwards. I guess I still don’t have my energy back fully. In the evening, we played, Mr. O went to bed, Lea went to get us blizzards from Dairy Queen, and we hung out and watched Nashville. It was a good night.
When Sunday came around I was starting to feel normal again. I woke up at 6 AM, got myself ready for the day, and then before I knew it, Mr. O was up too. We got ourselves ready for church and headed out. He was such a good boy this morning. We went to Sunday school, and he met another little boy that also loves dinosaurs! They played for a little bit and roared back and forth at each other, Lol. It was cute. Then we came home and currently, Mr. O is taking a nap while I am writing this. Our plans for this evening are to watch the Bears game and clean up around the house a little bit. It was a great week and a good start to the new year.
I wish all of you who read this a great, wonderful, and blessed 2026!
Peter
