Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Monday was Columbus Day here in the USA, and my employer has the day off each year, but for some reason, I volunteered to work. So, I was up bright and early, as usual, to start my holiday shift. The shift started at six in the morning and ended at two-thirty in the afternoon. It was a horrible day. When I woke up, I did not feel well. I realized I caught whatever Mr. O has, and it was invading my body at a rapid pace. Nose and ears were congesting, throat was scratchy, it was a horrible morning. I instantly regretted volunteering to work (but hey, I didn’t know I was going to be sick!). Anyway, the work day was long and horrible for me. Not only because I was sick, but because I was stuck doing things I hadn’t done in months, and it felt like I couldn’t do anything right. Once the workday was done, I closed my laptop and enjoyed some cuddles from my boy. Then, my mom came over and brought dinner for all of us. She even brought her dog! Mr. O was so happy to see him, lol. We had Cars 2 on in the background while he played with the dog. After Mr. O went to bed, I watched the Bears extend their win streak to three games! I hope they can keep it up.
Tuesday morning was even worse for me (I won’t complain the whole post, I promise). I woke up with an even worse sore throat than the day before. I laid in bed for a bit while Mr. O called for me for a few minutes before he fell back asleep. About twenty minutes later, we were all awake and started our day. Mr. O and I went downstairs, and he watched the old show, Bear in the Big Blue House. We hung out on the couch, both of us weren’t feeling well, and cuddled before I had to go to work. I’ll save some time in this review and just say this: the whole work week was horrible. It was long, it was hard, it was busy. I was so glad each time the workday ended.
In the evening, Lea made soup and grilled cheese for her two sick [handsome] boys. We watched Friends and relaxed until it was bedtime for all of us. Wednesday was not much better, regarding both health and work. Mr. O was slowly getting better, but he was obviously still tired and unwell. He played occasionally, but then wanted to snuggle his momma some more. After work, I grilled some chicken, and Lea made sides, and we ate dinner as we normally do. It was not an eventful “humpday”.
On Thursday, I could tell I was starting to overcome this illness that had plagued me. I had a little bit more energy, but still struggled to breathe through my nose. About two hours into my workday, Lea and Mr. O left to go to my in-laws for a few days. There was this festival down there that Lea wanted to go to with Mr. O, and since he was feeling better, she decided to take him. He was so excited to go and see all of his cousins! Unfortunately, that left me all alone at home for a few days. It was quiet and sad. I missed my boy! However….I was able to relax and get my health back in peace, lol. After work, I went to get my haircut. It was long overdue! When I came home, I ordered Jimmy John’s and watched What We Do in the Shadows. After a couple of episodes, I went and took a shot of Nyquil and passed out.
When Friday morning came around, I actually slept in. It felt so great! I was feeling a little bit better, and I am so glad about that because we had another busy day at work. Once 5 PM hit, I was so thankful the week was over. The sense of relief that followed the time change was incredible. I closed my laptop and immediately started making myself dinner. I pulled out a few lambchops, seasoned them with olive oil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, and threw them on the grill. When those were done, I made mashed potatoes and green beans. It was an okay dinner. I think I cooked the lambchops a little bit too long, but it was only my second time making them, so I’ll learn!
While eating, I finished the series What We Do in the Shadows. Overall, it was okay. It had its moments. Would I watch it again? Eh, maybe. I don’t know. When I finished that show, I watched episode one of Tim Robinson’s new show, The Chair, on HBO. It was also just okay. I laughed and am interested to see where it goes. After that, I watched The Addams Family, from 1964. It’s a good show, and kind of funny. I can see why my dad enjoyed it back in the day, lol.
I also slept in on Saturday. I woke up to a nice fall thunderstorm. When I came downstairs, I watched this movie called Friendship, starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. It was very strange. It made no sense and was not that funny, in my opinion, but it did keep me wondering, “What the heck is going to happen next?”. After that, I worked for forty-five minutes because they had asked us on Friday to finish some things up over the weekend. Then, I showered, ate some more, and watched TV almost all day so I could relax. Then, I bought Madden 26 on my PlayStation and started a season with the Bears. I am so bad at this game. I hope I get better, lol. I also created my own quarterback. That isn’t going well either. After that, I made a pizza and watched the new season of Impractical Jokers. Well, a few episodes of the new season. Not the entire season 12. About an hour later, I went to Dairy Queen and ordered an Oreo Blizzard, and when I came home, I put on the new Superman movie (again) and enjoyed my evening.
When I woke up on Sunday, I was feeling much better. More energized, but still tired (if that makes sense). I wanted to work out, but I knew I didn’t have the energy. I feel horrible about how I’ve handled my exercise lately. I’m so on-and-off with it, and I’ve been eating like garbage, so mentally it makes me feel horrible. I need to get back to a normal workout schedule. I will eventually; this happens sometimes. After I showered and threw on my Bears jersey, I did some laundry and turned on an early football game. The Rams and Jaguars are playing in London this morning, so their game started at 8:30 AM Central time here in the region. It was another rainy day, which is perfect for a full day of football. Lea and Mr. O came home, and we hung out the rest of the day. It’s great to have my family back.
I hope you all had a great week!
Peter
