Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

My week started at 6 AM on Monday morning. It was Labor Day, so I had the day off from work. I had planned to sleep in, but I was woken up by Mr. O screaming from his room. He wasn’t screaming and/or crying, and he wasn’t screaming because he was upset. He was screaming, “Dada! I go poop! Dada open door!”. He wanted me to change his diaper, lol. I love how aware he is about what’s going on with him. We will definitely be starting potty training soon. After I changed him and we dressed ourselves for the day, we headed downstairs. Overall, Mr. O was a little bit under the weather, so I put on Ice Age for him to watch while he relaxes.
I think he enjoyed it. I’m not sure if it’s his first viewing or not, but he was into it for almost the whole movie. Throughout, he played on the floor with some of his toys, occasionally turning his head to watch the movie. Once he had enough of it, he told me to turn it off. Since he was playing (and didn’t want me to play with him), I turned on the Andy Griffith Show and we chilled the rest of the morning until it was time for his nap. When he went to sleep, Lea went to the store and I worked out in the basement. Then, I made myself some eggs, turned on Smallville, and before I knew it Mr. O was awake and ready to resume his play time.
When I went to get him from his room, he informed me “Ninnie wake up”, which means, “Winston woke me up”. He has been telling us lately that our cat, Winston/Ninnie, has been waking him up by saying his name, lol. He said, “Ninnie say Ollie wake up.” Who knows, he could be telling the truth. That’d be freaky, though! When we came back downstairs, we wanted the TV off for a while, so Lea and I played UNO, while Mr. O stole some of our cards and started throwing them at us while we played. Lea won our best of seven series. I thought I was going to win! I came out hot. I won the first 3 games, then I’m not sure what happened. Lea won the next four and it was over.
In the evening, Lea made this delicious chicken dinner in the crock pot. The rest of the evening was filled with playing, bath time, and bed.
When Tuesday morning rolled around, Mr. O was up and very upset with Winston the Cat (again). He told me Winston woke up him up by calling his name (again) and he was not happy. After I calmed him down and got him dressed, I drove him to daycare. He had a great day there, and work went by fast for me, thankfully. On Tuesday night I had my last fantasy football draft. My third and final time having to sit through a draft this year. When that was done, Lea gave Mr. O a bath and I put him to bed. Then, Lea and I watched another movie from the Twilight series.
On Wednesday morning I started letting Mr. O pick out his own clothes. Well, his shirts, for now. He decided, after throwing all his shirts around, he wanted to wear his multi-colored Hot Wheels shirt, which has all kinds of different cars on it. However, after making a mess of his t-shirt drawer, we realized it wasn’t even in there! It was in the clean laundry basket in our room, Lol. When we found it he decided he wanted to be shirtless instead. I let him be that way until he was cold (which was like ten minutes after he said he wasn’t going to wear a shirt), and then I put his shirt of choice back on. Lea took him to daycare and I worked hard all day. It was a mentally challenging day for me. I don’t know why, but my work was tougher than normal.
Once the clock struck five, I jumped in my car and went to pick up our little man. When I pulled up to daycare, he was riding his bike back to the house, lol. He saw me and sped up and was screaming, “That’s my dada! That’s my dada!” and it was the cutest thing in the world! Lea went out to dinner on this night, so it was just me and my boy. When we came home, I made us dinner, gave him a bath, and I finished the Twilight movie we had to pause earlier in the week and then watched the latest episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Also, I should note for those curious, I did not watch these without Lea. She watched them on her own earlier, and I watched them on my own in the evening. Our schedules didn’t work out the normal way this time.
On Thursday morning Mr. O helped me finalize my fantasy football lineups. The NFL season was officially starting and I had to make sure my starting lineups were solid on all three of my teams. In the evening, I made dinner and we played with Mr. O. Then I watched the first game of the season and turned on the latest episode of Peacemaker. It was a good night! On Friday, I was so pumped the season started, so I decided to throw one of my Bears jersey’s and wore it all day, lol. When Mr. O woke up, he told me, again, that Winston woke him up. I don’t know what to do about this. He keeps saying Winston is waking him up. Do I hide somewhere upstairs and see if Winston is actually saying his name? That’d be so weird, but kind of cool.
In the evening it was just me and Mr. O again. Lea had dinner plans and we stayed home to watch Moana, Steam Trains Galore (first time in a long time), and played. Once I could tell the little man was getting tired, I convinced him to go upstairs to take a bath and go to bed. I finished the night off by watching football. It was a good day.
On Saturday morning I decided I am going to give college football another try. I do this every single year. I’ve never been into college football, but I’m going to keep trying! While Mr. O was playing, I turned on the Barstool Sports college game day show. It was nice to have on in the background, and makes me wish Indiana State was good at football when we were students there.
The rest of the day was fun. Mr. O napped for three hours, which gave me time to lay around. When he woke up, we went to see my grandma, then came home, played, and watched The Lion King. Lea and I finished the eveing by watching the first half of the last Twilight movie. The series as a whole is okay. It’s not great, but it’s not as terrible as people have said.
On Sunday I finally slept in. The NyQuil I took before really helped me. My throat’s been a little scratchy due to the weather change in the region, so I wanted to get a good night’s sleep. When I woke up, we played with Mr. O, watched some train vidoes on YouTube, and then him and I went to Target to do some shopping. Lea had a babyshower, so she left around the same time as us. At Target, Mr. O spotted a firetruck toy. He loved it so much, so I bought it for him, lol. It lights up, drives itself around, and makes all kinds of noises. I also bought Matthew McConaughey’s memoir, Green Lights. I’ve been thinking of maybe writing one myself, based on my experiences in my twenties. Even if I write it just for me, without publishing. I want to prove to myself I can start and finish a project like this. If I like it, we will go from there and see what happens, but I believe in order to write a good book, you have to read good books, and I have heard nothing but great things about this memoir. I’m excited to start it!
When we came home, Mr. O played with his new truck for a bit, then went down for a nap. We watched football all day, played, and finished the week off with the last Twilight movie. It was a great week, and I am looking forward to the week ahead.
