Weekly Review 49

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Our week started as usual. Once we were ready for the day, Mr. O woke up and was immediately prepared to get his day going as well. Thankfully, Lea was taking him to my mom’s on this day, so I had some extra quiet time before work started. I was able to read a few chapters of Batman: Hush and catch up on the daily news by scrolling X/Twitter. I have to find other ways to see the news. Sometimes X is so depressing, and everyone is trying to “rage bait” each other. It gets annoying! I never thought I’d actually be happy that I had to log into work, but it gave me a reason to turn my phone upside down and stop scrolling through all the negativity that social media brings.

Work was busy again. It’s been picking up lately, with very few “slow” days. I don’t mind, but it can be overwhelming at times. On the bright side, all the work makes the eight hours go by pretty fast. Before I knew it, our little family was together again, and everything seemed right in the world. Mr. O and I played while Lea made us dinner. Or maybe I should say breakfast. She made breakfast for dinner. We had pancakes and sausage! It was a great dinner to start the week. I don’t believe I’ve spoken about this much, but I love breakfast food! I love some good eggs (either scrambled or over medium), hash browns, bacon, sausage, toast, pancakes, waffles, etc. My mouth is watering as I type this out. The next time we go out for breakfast, either to Cedar Lake Kitchen or Omelette House, I will take some pictures and tell you all about it. They’re really cool local restaurants, and I enjoy their food.

Once we put Mr. O to bed, I continued my re-watch of Peacemaker season one. I forgot how deep and emotional that show gets. For such a stupid DC character, they really nailed the emotion. It has the fans hooked. As the night continued, we had another round of really bad storms. Tons of lightning and very loud thunder. Louder than normal. Like, way louder! I don’t know if this has been happening elsewhere, but the thunder over here has been sounding like someone is in the sky smashing two large brass plates together. That’s how loud it’s been! It carried on all through the night, giving Lea and me a horrible night’s rest. Mr. O, on the other hand, slept perfectly fine.

Once Tuesday morning came around, the storm was long gone. I dressed Mr. O, and we were off to daycare. He was excited to go and play with all the toys there. He did hug me goodbye, though, and without me asking! It was so sweet. When I arrived home, I chugged a protein shake and started my miserable work day. It was more miserable than normal because I had more meetings than I typically do, and it was really busy again, which made me feel like I was behind on everything. Of course, it worked out in the end, as it always does, so I felt silly at the end of the day for feeling anxious.

After work, I went to pick up Mr. O, and we came home to Lea making us dinner. I believe we had sloppy joes that night, and Mr. O would absolutely NOT eat his food unless he was squished in the recliner next to me, lol. It was the cutest thing! He even made me scoot my plate over on the lap tray so he could fit his plate on it, too. Once we finished eating and picked up all his toys, it was time for our little man to go to sleep. When I came back downstairs, I tried to watch some TV, but I was so tired I kept falling asleep in the chair. Eventually, I made my way into our bed and passed out.

On Wednesday morning, I was re-energized and ready to go! I woke up early, did the dishes, and was prepared to seize the day. Lea took Mr. O to my mom’s again, and I took some of our dress clothes to the cleaners. We had a baptism later in the week, and I needed my suit cleaned, so I grabbed some of my other clothes, as well as a dress or two from Lea, and took the clothes to be cleaned.

Around noon, I took my lunch break. It was so beautiful outside, I decided to do my midday walk around the neighborhood instead of on our treadmill. It was so peaceful and breezy. Later in the evening, I tried once again to grill the perfect barbecue chicken (To my surprise, it ended up really good!). While I was cooking, Lea was busy chasing Mr. O down the street. He’s a fast little stinker! He thought it was so funny to make his momma chase after him. I could hear him laughing from a few houses down, lol. When they came back, they played a little longer in the yard, and then it was time to go inside.

While we ate, Lea and I watched the latest episode of The Summer I Turned Pretty. This show is surprisingly really good. I’m enjoying the final season, and I am very interested (and invested) in how it ends. I have my theories, but I will keep them to myself for now. I don’t want to spoil anything for those who aren’t caught up. When Mr. O went to sleep, I finished season one of Peacemaker, and was fully prepared for season 2!

Thursday ended up being a lazy morning for Mr. O. He slept in, and then I believe he relaxed most of the day. I don’t remember, sorry. I was working! Forgive my memory lapse. Anyway, when I finished working, we played outside. Mr. O wanted to be pushed in his wagon for a bit, then he wanted to do the pushing. I told him I couldn’t fit in his wagon and that he wouldn’t be able to push it if I was in there, and he eventually realized I was right. So he pushed his empty wagon back and forth for a bit until dinner was ready. We came inside, washed our hands, and ate. Then, we played some more inside with Lea. Later on, I watched the first episode of Peacemaker season 2. It was really interesting how James Gunn switched “universes” for the characters.

If you’re confused, let me try to make it make sense: This whole new DC universe James Gunn & DC Studios have created (starting with Creature Commandos & Superman) is new and completely separate from the DCEU. DCEU was the universe tied to Henry Cavill’s Superman and director Zack Snyder’s movies. However, in the DCEU, Peacemaker was created by James Gunn. So, to keep his creations and the things he worked hard on and enjoys, he brought Peacemaker into the new DCU that he created. Does that make sense? He did it in a way that comic books have been doing it for decades. It was pretty cool to figure out what is canon and what is not. Anyway, if you’re interested, you should give all DC content a try! I will advise, Peacemaker is NOT for kids.

On Friday morning, I took Mr. O to daycare. Once again, he was so excited. In the car on the way over there, he was practicing saying hi to “Rara”. That’s what he calls the woman who runs the daycare. “Hi, Rara” is all I heard for about 5 minutes, lol. He even made me turn off the music. He wanted a quiet drive, with only the sound of his voice to soothe him. Work was busy once again, and once again it flew by. Before I knew it, the clock struck 5 o’clock and I immediately shut down my computer. I don’t need anyone pinging me right at 5 on a Friday, lol. I also had somewhere to be. Our clothes were ready at the cleaners, so I went to pick them up. When I came home, Lea and I decided we were both too lazy to cook anything, so we ordered from Chili’s and watched Gilmore Girls with Mr. O.

After dinner, I bathed Mr. O and put him down for the night. When I came downstairs, I worked on my latest Exploring the Region piece, then called it a night. When I woke up on Saturday, I realized I had some time, so I worked on the piece some more. About an hour later, I was being summoned upstairs. “Daaada! Daaaaada!” I heard him scream. Not an upset scream, he was just talking really loudly, lol. He knows I’m usually awake before him and that I will be there when he calls. When we came downstairs, we played and watched The Lion King (again). Mr. O was singing and dancing along this time.

Later that morning, we all cleaned up and headed out to a baptism. It was a beautiful day, and the baptism was great. I took Mr. O into the hallway at the church so he could run and get some energy out. I think he exerted himself too much, because by the time we got to the luncheon, he was falling asleep at the table! He was also crabby, so after we ate lunch, we had to take off so he could get a good nap in. While he slept, I finished my draft of the Exploring the Region piece. I was finally almost done! When the little guy woke up, we went outside to enjoy the weather and play. I turned the sprinklers on to water the new grass seed I had planted, and I had no idea Mr. O was going to love it so much!

Within the first few minutes of the sprinklers being on, he was soaked, lol. Running and laughing his way through all of the water. It was so adorable, and it made me so happy. Later that night, I obviously had to bathe him. He was a mess! When I came downstairs after putting him down, Lea wanted to watch Twilight. It was her turn to pick what we watch since we finished The Sopranos. We only watched the first one and…meh. It was okay, but I am interested to see where it goes. I think I would have enjoyed the nonsense of it all more if my mind wasn’t filled with all the jokes people have made about it over the years. That’s okay, though, I will try to block it out next time, lol.

On Sunday, I surprisingly slept in a bit. Mr. O and I woke up around the same time, and we headed downstairs together to eat and relax for a bit. Before I started my yard work, I put on the Andy Griffith Show while we all played and sat around for an hour or two. Eventually, I had to get outside and cut the grass, pick the weeds, and trim the edges. It felt incredible out there! The breeze was beautiful. Once I finished and cleaned myself up, it was time for my first fantasy football draft of the season. In this league are a bunch of my cousins, so it will be really fun and competitive, but I don’t think anyone is going to take it too seriously. We all want to win, but it is a dumb game after all.

I also finished writing my Exploring the Region piece, and it will be published on Wednesday morning of this week! If you wouldn’t mind reading, subscribing, and sharing, I would greatly appreciate it! I truly enjoy writing those and learning some of the history of each place, and I hope my readers enjoy it as well.

I hope you have a great week and happy Monday!

Peter
