Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Monday started out how it always does: Mr. O and I get up together, we eat, play, watch TV, and then I start working. The day was boring, but went by fast. After work I joined Mr. O in the backyard, where he was digging in his sand table with his little shovels. “Dig, dig, dig” he says while moving sand from one box to the other. When he became bored with his sand, he helped me squash a bunch of ants that were circling his table, and seemingly making their way towards our house. It was funny watching him lift his little feet up as high as he could and then slam them down onto the ground. I still spraid the bug repelant around the perimeter back there, but he was still helpful!
When Lea came home I finally convinced him to come inside and wash his hands. It was my turn to make dinner so I kept it simple. I made nachos, and our family sat and ate while watching TV. Then we played for a bit before Mr. O had to go to bed. After he went down, I brought up an old table Lea and I had from our first place together. My aunts pithced in and bought it for us and we had used it for years up until we moved into our current home. However, the new table we’ve had the last few years was not holding up well. Eh, the table was fine, it was the chairs. The seats on them were falling off and nothing we tried was keeping them together. So I took the table apart, put it in the basement, cleaned off our old table (which still looks great by the way. It matches our cabinets and floor better than the new one), put it together, and then I finally called it a night.
On Tuesday morning I took Mr. O to daycare. He loves going there so much and I am happy he loves it, but I miss him throughout the day. When I came home I didn’t have much else to do so I started my laptop so I can get my things ready before my start time. It was a very busy day at work. I started my day assisting with some files that had to be taken care of before the end of the day. “Okay, that’s not bad” I thought to myself. Then, about ten minutes after I started on them, I was assigned a couple hundred more files that were due by the end of the day also. I was a little overwhelmed, but this does happen from time to time so it wasnt anything I couldnt handle. I knew I could do it, but you never know what you’re going to get some days. Thankfully, the files I was working on were pretty easy. I not only met our production goal, I exceeded it (by a lot). It’s days like this when I feel most productive at work. Like I really accomplished something. It’s a good feeling, but best not to get a big head about it. My peers and I do things like this routinely.
Once the chaotic work day was over, I went to pick up Mr. O from daycare. I’m disappointed to report that he was not thrilled to see me, like he was last time. He wasn’t done playing and he did not want to get in the car. So, while I had my hands full carrying his bike and diaper bag to the car, Mr. O took off running down the street, giggling all the way. I rushed to throw his things in the car and chase him down. Luckily, his daycare is in a culdesac, so it wasn’t near any busy roads, and Mr. O was on the sidewalk. I finally chased him down and he thought it was hilarious. He let me put him in the car with no issues and we were on our way home.
When we arrived, Lea was making dinner. Once again, we were in our routine: dinner, play time, bath and bed. After Mr. O and Lea went to bed, I cleaned up in the kitchen. It’s only fair since Lea made dinner. I did the dishes, and then I relaxed and finished seson 1 of Downton Abbey.
Wednesday morning was fun. Mr. O woke up happy and we played until my mom came to pick him up. He was spending the day at her house, but wanted him to sleep in, so she came to our house to get him. Work flew by (thankfully) and I prepped the chicken for the grill. I was making grilled chicken and I don’t know what’s happened to me lately but it’s been so bad. Well, in my opinion. Lea said it was good and ate most of hers. I didn’t like it. I might take a break from grilling chicken for a while, lol. Then again, I don’t know if I am the issue. The chicken was too chewy, so that’s not really an issue with my cooking, right? (Tell me I’m right!).
On Thursday evening we didn’t feel like cooking. Lea wasn’t feeling well, and I was tired (and also still upset about the chicken from the night before), so I had a bowl of cereal while sitting at the table. Then, Mr. O asked Lea to make him a bowl of Cheerios too, and he came and sat next to me, lol. It was so cute. The two of us sitting at the table eating the same thing. He’s adorable. Once I finished I was off to get a haircut. I desparately needed one. I saw an unflattering picture of me from the Fourth of July, and let’s just say I decided to let my hair grow for a few weeks after that! Okay fine, I’ll talk about it. Keep in mind my hair was wet and I was wearing a hat all day. We went swimming in the lake (as you know, if you read that post), and Lea’s mom took a picture of all of us, and she captured the top/back of my head in the image. When I say my jaw dropped when I saw the photo later that evening, I mean it was on the floor. I knew I was losing some hair back there, but that picutre made it look like it was already gone!
So, from that day forward I decided to just let my hair grow and hopefully it will help it. Well, I eventually became sick of my hair being longer than I prefer, and went to get it cut. Every time I cut my hair after letting it grow for a bit, it makes me feel lighter and makes my head look smaller, lol.
Friday seemed to drag on (as the day before a week-long vacation tends to do) and I was not thrilled about it! Work was, well, work. Not too busy, but not slow either, and just the right amount of annoying. After work, Lea made dinner and we played the rest of the night. It was a good way for us to start our much needed time off from work.
On Saturday Mr. O and I woke up around the same time (I think) and we went downstairs to grab some breakfast. On this morning I wanted to try something new, so I turned on Superman the animated series for us, instead of his trains. He watched an episode, but immediately demanded his “Choo-choo” shows once the credits rolled. Oh well, hopefully when he’s older he will like it more. After we all cleaned ourselves up and got ready for the day, the three of us went shopping for Halloween decorations at Home Goods. Well, we went for Fall and Halloween decor, but ended up with mostly Halloween stuff, lol. When we came home we actually set it all up, then an hour later we were like “why did we do this? It’s still July”, so we took it all down, lol. Eventually, we will put up our fall decorations and actually be “in season”.
We’re lucky we came home when we did, because a big thunderstorm rolled through and it would have been terrible to be caught on the road in it. When Mr. O eventually woke up from his nap, I walked into his room with his bottle of milk, but he was NOT having it. “No, DADA! NO!” he screamed. “You don’t want your milk?” I asked. “No DADA, GO!” as he pointed to the door. Yes, my two year old just kicked me out of his room. I left the milk on the crib and left. “Dada!” he yelled, “door shut”. I closed the door and went back downstairs for ten minutes. The little man just wanted to relax for a few minutes after he woke up, I guess. I was not prepared for him kicking me out of his bedroom. Not at this age, anyway.
Around 2 AM on Sunday morning a really loud storm woke me up, which is unusual. Typically, I sleep through it, but this one was so loud. Thankfully, Mr. O did not wake up, so it was just me who had trouble falling back asleep. When I finally woke up for good a few hours later, Mr. O was up and ready to start the day, so that is what we did. I tried again with Superman, but he wasn’t interested. We all played and relaxed throughout the first half of the day, and then it was time for Mr. O to take a nap. After I put him down, I decided to lay in my bed for a few minutes before I worked out. However, it turns out I was more tired than I thought, because I ended up passing out and taking (almost) a two hour nap. It felt good, but I was still tired when I woke up.
The rest of the day was fun. We played basketball, built some blocks, colored, and watched the new season of The Summer I Turned Pretty. It was a fun day, and great weekend to kick off a week of vacation time!
