Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

We’ve been having a bit of a heat wave here in the region lately. I believe it’s affecting most of the midwest (if not all), so it’s been really hot almost every single day. Thank God for air conditioning. Also, I haven’t been as active on WordPress Reader this past week, so I will be catching up on a bunch of posts soon! We’ve been going non-stop around here lately and now we have a short week with the Fourth of July coming up, but I promise I will get to reading!
On Monday morning it was already hot and humid. When Mr. O woke up we did our normal routine and I drove him to my moms house for the day, blasting the AC. The work day wasn’t terrible for a Monday. Thankfully, it went by quick and Mr. O was home before I knew it. We played a bit and then he spent some one-on-one time with his Mama while I threw some chicken on the grill and started cooking dinner (it was okay. I feel like I’ve been off with it lately. Nothing’s been as good as that first BBQ chicken I made!). Later in the evening, I started a new show on Prime: Downton Abbey. I’m only two episodes in but it’s pretty good and interesting so far.
Tuesday was a normal day. Mr. O went to daycare, Lea and I worked all day, and then her and Mr. O came home. We made dinner and played with his toys for a little bit. He’s going through a phase recently. He’s been licking, biting, and jumping off the couch like a madman, lol. He’s also been standing on his little chair and jumping off into his ball pit. He’s a crazy little boy, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. He’s so much fun. After he tired himself out and went to bed, I worked out downstairs for about thirty minutes. I was so tired I felt like I barely accomplished anything. It’s better than nothing, I guess.
On Wednesday I went into Chicago for work. I know I told you all recently, but for those who don’t know, I have been designated as home based at work, so I do not have to go into the office. However, my boss has asked me to come in once or twice a month and I told her I would. So I went into the office on Wednesday because one of our managers was retiring and they were having a little party for him (with food). It was nice to go in and see everyone, although it was so hot in the morning while I was walking there. Thankfully, it was a quick one. After work I was walking to the train with an incredible breeze. It felt so good! Once I arrived at the train station, I realized I just barely missed one of my earlier trains home. As I was walking onto the platform it shut it’s doors and took off. So I had to wait for my normal train to arrive twenty minutes later. It’s okay, though. Once I got back to my car, I went to pick up Mr. O and we had a talkative ride home. I don’t know what was said, if I’m telling the truth, but he was talkative.
Thursday morning was fun. Our sitter was coming to our house so Mr. O was able to sleep in a little bit and play with his own toys all day. In the morning, when he woke up, I dressed him exactly like me! Lea bought us matching shirts, and I already had mine on, so I wanted to put his on him too, lol. Mine has a picture of the Disney character Goofy on it and it says “Rad dad” and Mr. O’s has Goofy’s son on it and it says “Rad like dad”. He looked so cute in it (we both did). When we came downstairs he played with his trains while he had a show on in the background, and I picked up around the house a bit before I started working. Later in the evening we took the little man to his doctor appointment. He is okay! It was just a quick checkup.
On Friday morning I drove Mr. O to daycare. Once again, he did not care that I was leaving, lol. I love that he is so comfortable there, but I miss him so much. I’m happy he’s not clinging to me crying while I leave, but sometimes I wish he would. I’m going to regret saying that because there is zero chance I leave him there if he does that. The issue is never getting him to stay, it’s getting him to leave! The day flew by once again and we were all at home at the same time, finally. We all played and had a show on in the background while we ate and Mr. O entertained us with his gibberish mixed with real words. After he went to sleep I went for an evening stroll around the neighborhood, and then I worked out in the basement. This time it felt really good. I had more energy and felt like I did a lot more than the other night. Honestly, I’ve been feeling really good lately. I bought a little treadmill and I’ve been walking for about twenty minutes almost every day during my lunch breaks, and then in the evenings I’ve been lifting weights. I’ve also been eating a little bit better this past week, so that has helped too. I hope I can keep this up.
On Saturday morning, I was awake before everyone. I got to work on my Exploring the Region post about the Hesston Steam Museum. There isn’t too much information on this one, so it may be a little shorter and written a bit differently than my other two historical posts. After an hour or so went by, Mr. O was awake and ready to start the day. We brushed his teeth and then played in his play room. It was fun until he wanted to wake Lea up, lol. He went and knocked on our bedroom door, then opened it and said “Hi, Mama” in the sweetest voice I’ve ever heard. The one time he’s woken me up he got in my face and yelled “DADA! UP!” lol. After we ate breakfast, we went back upstairs to keep Lea company while she reorganized Mr. O’s closet. Me and him played around while she was doing that. He has so much energy it’s insane! Recently, he believes he is a dinosaur. So we have to deal with Olliesaurus, and he stomps his feet and goes “RAAAWWWWRRRR” for about an hour. Super fun and it never gets old! (Sigh). It’s cute though.
Later that morning I threw on a tank and cut the grass. What a bad idea. The back of my neck and my shoulders got slightly burnt, so it’s not a full on burn, but just enough for the wrong movement to irritate it, lol. In the afternoon, I tried to play outside with Mr. O since I was turning the sprinklers on, but he did not like them like I thought he would, and it was way too hot. Poor guy was getting a little pink on his arms so I had to tick him off and take him back inside. That was my bad. I should have known it was too hot to play out there!
On Sunday Mr. O woke up before Lea and I. So when I got up I had to hurry and eat before I went to get him ready for the day. Once we were all downstairs, I took a drive to look for a new pair of sunglasses. I went to three different places and I could not believe they did not have any men’s sunglasses for sale. It was so strange to me. So I came home, rightfully (!) upset (Lea doesn’t think so), and then Lea went somewhere else and came home with a couple pairs for me to have. She’s the best. Then, my mom came over to watch Mr. O for a few hours while Lea and I drove up to the South Side of Chicago to watch the White Sox. It’s been a while since we’ve been to a game. It was so much fun! Our seats were in the shade, so the sun and rain didn’t bother us too much. The food was great (as always) and the game was really entertaining. They ended up winning by a few runs after being down almost half of the game. Here are some pics we took:

It was a really fun day and it’s always amazing to spend the day just the two of us (no offense Mr. O). On the way home, I explained to Lea that one thing the owner of the White Sox and Bulls (Jerry Reinsdorf) does well is the food at the stadiums and creating a fun atmosphere for the fans. I know, it’s rare, I just gave him a compliment. I followed it up with “… and he does these things so everyone forgets how bad his teams are and that he is a terrible owner of both teams.” Then, I continued my usual depressing rant about how the teams have no future and there’s no hope, but then All Star by Smashmouth came on and I paused to sing the whole song, and then I continued on about how much I wish he would just sell the team and blah blah blah. You’ve all heard it before too. Lea eventually told me shut up, lol.
The rest of the night was quick. We ate, we played, and we’re all getting ready for bed now. It was a long week, but it was another good one. I hope you all have a great week ahead. Thank you for reading!
