Weekly Review 36

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

On Monday night, I put on my chef’s hat and got to work. I was making spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic knots. It wasn’t anything special, but it was a good meal! Later that evening, when we were putting Mr. O to sleep, I read him three different books because he couldn’t decide on which of the three he wanted, lol. I would finish one, and he would point to the next one, saying “Book.” So, we read all three, two of which are picture books. One is a dinosaur book (his current interest), and the other is a book with different pictures and the name of the item written underneath. We ask him to find whatever it is on the page, and he finds it most of the time. He’s becoming so smart!

Early Tuesday morning, Lea and I were woken up by the loudest thunderstorm we’ve heard in quite some time. It was around three or four in the morning, and I was in a deep sleep. Then, out of nowhere, the storm poured down on us! Shaking the house multiple times. It was wild, but the house-shaking only lasted a few minutes, and I don’t believe Mr. O woke up, lol. I don’t know how this kid sleeps through such loud noises. I guess it’s good for us, though. Later that same morning, I took Mr. O over to my mom’s house for the day. It’s always sad to drop him off and leave. I wish he felt the same way! He didn’t care, which is good, I guess, since he will be starting daycare next month. I said, “Bye, I love you!” and he turned around, blew me a kiss with a big smile on his face and said “Thank you. Byeee”, lol. The workday went by fast, and we had an entertaining night ahead. Our little family went to our goddaughter’s talent show, where she and two of her sisters performed. Our goddaughter played the piano. She did so well! We are so proud of her. The other “acts” (?) were good as well. These kids are all so creative, lol. Most of them sang and danced, others (like our goddaughter and her sisters) played the piano, and one child put on a show with her Muppet friend. She was a ventriloquist, lol. It was quite something.

It was a fun night, and Mr. O had a blast. He was dancing and singing along the whole time. We felt kind of bad because he is so loud, lol. Eventually, Lea had to take him into the hallway to run around for a little bit so he could get his energy out. About an hour later, we went home, and the little guy went to sleep.

On Wednesday, Mr. O slept in. He was exhausted from the night before. So, I cleaned up a little bit (I did the dishes, lol. That counts, right?) The work day dragged on, but when it was over, I went to Target to find a birthday gift for one of Mr. O’s little friends, and to see if any Superman merchandise was on sale yet (nope). When I came home, Lea was making dinner. Then, we sat and ate as a family. Well, Lea and I sat and ate while Mr. O played with his toys and came for a bite occasionally. After the little monster went to sleep, I worked out downstairs while watching the NBA playoffs. It was game one of the Eastern Conference finals, and the Indiana Pacers faced off against the New York Knicks. I’m not a fan of either, as most of you know, but if the Bulls aren’t in the playoffs and the Pacers are, I will root for the Pacers. They’re my secondary team, I guess. I’m not a fan or super fan, but I do live in Indiana, so why not root for them? Unfortunately, I fell asleep with two minutes left in overtime, so I had no idea who won until the following day, lol.

Thursday was the second anniversary of Adoption Day (as we call it here). Two years ago, on this day, we officially adopted Mr. O. He legally became a part of our family. I wanted to specify “legally” because he was a part of our family from the moment he was born. Every time I think of that day, I always remember this picture of baby Superman/Clark Kent with his parents (who adopted him as well):

I hope one day Mr. O realizes just how much we needed him in our lives. To be his parents is the greatest gift in the world! He was and is such a blessing.

On Thursday morning, I took him to my mom’s house again. He loves waking up her dog, lol. In the evening, we celebrated adoption day by going to dinner with two of my cousins and one of my aunts. It was more of a “Come join us if you can make it” type of thing; otherwise, everyone would have been there. It was fun, and Mr. O loves spending time with his aunts, whom he rarely sees since they are away at school. When we came home and our angel baby went to sleep, I finished reading the Lois Lane comic I’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks. I’ve written about it before. It was good (again), and now on to the next one (if I feel like it). I haven’t been in the mood to read comics in a long time. I’m not sure why.

On Friday, Mr. O slept in again. So, I took the time to do some chores. Before I knew it, I had to start working, and Mr. O was still sleeping, lol. My aunt was watching him on this day, so she was here to help out with the chaos when he woke up. Around midday, we were informed we had an early release for the long weekend. It’s a holiday in America (on Monday) –Memorial Day – where we remember those who have fallen serving our country. With the early release, I was able to spend more time with my boy. We did some laundry, I made him a sandwich, and I put on Blue’s Clues for him to see how he would like it. He made it through one episode because he loves dogs, but once it was over, he wasn’t interested in watching another one. It’s okay, though, he will eventually come to like all the things we grew up on! Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but we will see, lol.

On Saturday, I was up early. I wanted to wake up before everyone so I could have some peace and quiet for about an hour, while I ate and sat in the recliner, catching up on some news. Before I knew it, Mr. O was up, Lea was up, and it was time to get ready for the boss’s soccer practice. He had no interest in participating this weekend, especially because “momma” ticked him off when we got there, lol. All she said was, “No, you can’t have the coach’s pen,” and he stood there, pouting and giving Lea the stink eye. Then, he wouldn’t even acknowledge her. He ran to me with open arms to give me a big hug and for me to pick him up, which I did. He laid his head on my shoulders and continued his pouting!

A few minutes later, he wanted to play a little bit (with me only). We kicked the ball back and forth, then ran around the tree chasing each other for ten minutes. It was fun! After soccer, he was giving us a hard time about sitting in his car seat. So, one of Lea’s friends, whose daughter is also playing soccer, came over to give him a little donut so he would sit still lol. When we got home, Lea gave him a bath, and then Mr. O and I headed out to his friend’s birthday party. It was fun, and Mr. O had a great time. Afterwards, we went home and then went to Target with Lea. I regretted my decision to tag along. I did not realize how many things she wanted to try on! The waiting, waiting, waiting. It took forever! Mr. O and I had a little fun, though. We ran around the store, he loves going fast in the cart lol. The rest of the evening was relaxing. We ate, played, and watched some TV.

This edition of my Weekly Review will be shortened today. As I am writing this, it is Sunday morning, so I won’t have a full Sunday to share with you this time. I typically write these on Sunday nights, but tonight we will be at our koumbaro/Mr. O’s godfather’s wedding! If you’ve followed me for a while, you remember I’ve spoken about my friend Demetri. I even interviewed him last year. Anyway, he is getting married today and we will be gone all night, so I wanted to get up early and write this so it’s out tomorrow! Now, I have to wrapt it up, because Mr. O has awoken from his slumber. Wish me luck!

I hope you all have a great week ahead!

Peter
