Weekly Review 35

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

It was another tough start to the work week on Monday. The work kept coming in like crazy, and I felt like I had a million things to do with no time to do them. I guess I shouldn’t complain. I’ve had it easy the last couple of months at work, and others have busy days all the time, but that’s what I do here. I complain! So, anyway, the work was coming in like crazy, and I thought I was going to go insane. Thankfully, all of the work made the day go by faster, and before I knew it, it was time to close my laptop.

On Monday evening, I grilled chicken. I let it marinate in barbeque sauce for a little while before putting it on the grill. I’m not much of a chef, but I really think I could be after Monday’s dinner. It was so good! I will humble myself a bit and say, it’s a really easy recipe.        All I did was put the chicken breasts in a Ziploc bag with barbeque sauce, and then, when they were almost done, I rubbed more sauce on them. Either way, it was really good! I’m not much of a chef, so I am happy with how they turned out, lol. After we ate dinner and put Mr. O to bed, I went for a beautiful evening walk.

On Tuesday, I was up a bit earlier than usual. I was heading to my office in Chicago for my once-a-month visit. It was beautiful outside, so I am happy I picked this day to go in. My goal was to catch the 7:15 am train, but I missed it by a few seconds! It’s okay, though, I did not let it ruin my day. The trains were on time (which is why I missed it), the weather was beautiful, it was nice to get out of the house, and I was able to catch the next one fifteen minutes later. It all worked out in the end!

It was a long day in the office. I went for a team meeting, which is only thirty minutes long (I know…I know. “Why are you going all the way to Chicago for a thirty-minute meeting?” Because my boss asked me to!). When I finally came home, I only had around thirty minutes to spend with Mr. O before he went to bed. I hate that, and remember why I dislike going into the office so much. On the bright side, Lea was making dinner and we were able to eat together, as a family, before bath time. Lea gave Mr. O a bath and got him ready for bed. Then, I rocked with my little man and read him a book before putting him down to sleep. He’s a little angel!

After he went down for the night, I took Lea’s car to fill it up with gas. I know, I know, I am the best husband in the world! No, for real though, I told Lea that I will fill up her car from now on, if I am around at the time (which I mostly am). She almost had a scary incident a while ago before work at a gas station, and I will not let it (almost) happen again! So, I took a nice drive while the sun was setting to fill up her tank. Then, when I came home, I watched a bit of the NBA playoffs before falling asleep.

Wednesday was a wild day for DC Comics and/or Superman fans. The official trailer of the SUPERMAN movie dropped, and I think I have watched it fifty times (maybe more). It’s so good and I cannot wait for the movie to come out (July 11th). You can find the trailer on YouTube or any platform, really. I also have it in my latest post under my DC Comics tab. Towards the end of the work day, I took a little break to sit outside in my backyard and enjoy the stillness; the quietness. It was so beautiful. The birds were chirping while a warm breeze passed through, and the sun was warming my skin. I wish every day could be like that. It really makes me wonder why we (humans) are inside working constantly. It feels like we never get to enjoy our lives or the simple things, like the weather. It bothers me, so I am going to move on, lol. Later in the evening, I worked on my latest Exploring the Region (ETR) post. If you follow me on X/Twitter, you know the next edition of ETR will be covering the John Wood Old Mill in Merrillville, Indiana. It’s an interesting place and I hope you read the post. I took a bunch of pictures too! It will be published on May 22nd at noon!

On Thursday, after work, I played with Mr. O for a little bit. It didn’t last too long, this time, since I started dinner a little early to have a few things ready for Lea when she came home. She was cooking on Thursday night, but there were a few things that needed to be chopped up, so I wanted to have that ready for her before she came home. Later that night, we had another round of rough thunderstorms and really high winds. Our little tree in our parkway did not make it, and Mr. O’s slide was flying all over the backyard. So, I pulled up a chair to our back door, turned on the Region Weather live stream on Facebook, and watched the storm fly through. It came and went before we knew it, but it was still a bit scary.

On Friday morning, Mr. O slept in for the first time in a long time. It was nice for me! It gave me time to work on my Exploring the Region post again before work. After work, I tried to show him a compilation of the best SpongeBob songs on YouTube. All I can say at this time is that he is not interested. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a tad upset, but he will enjoy it eventually! Then, a few minutes after I turned his train show back on, we got an alarm on our phones warning of a big dust storm headed our way. I looked outside, and the sky was looking a little brownish. It didn’t look terrible by us, but Lea was on her way home and said it was pretty bad. Thankfully, she made it home with no issues. After Mr. O went to bed, I worked out downstairs and watched the NBA playoffs for a bit.

On Saturday morning, I woke up way earlier than I wanted to because of our cats! Winston the cat was attacking Baby Ruth because he wanted to play. She already doesn’t like him, and he goes and wakes her up at four in the morning to play, lol. I threw whatever was on the bed at them so they’d be quiet, but it was too late. I was already waking up! So, once again, I spent my morning working hard on my post for the John Wood Old Mill. When Mr. O woke up, hours later, we watched a little bit of Scooby Doo, then got him dressed for soccer practice.

He did so well this weekend at soccer! We are so proud of him. He was participating and interacting with the other kids. It was so cute! When we came home, he took a long nap while I finished my Exploring the Region post. On Saturday evening, Lea and I watched The Sopranos for a bit, then she went to bed, so I turned on The Rehearsal. I heard it was funny, and Nathan Fielder created it, so I turned it on. I enjoyed his older show, Nathan for You, so I figured I’d like this as well. Maybe I was just tired, but I didn’t like it that much. To be fair, I was falling asleep in the recliner, so I think I was just tired, lol. I will give it another shot.

On Sunday, Mr. O slept in until 8 AM! I think our boy is growing again. I honestly don’t know how we’re going to carry him or pick him up in the near future, lol. While Lea was blow-drying her hair, Mr. O and I were sitting on the floor in our room, tossing one of his basketballs back and forth. He has so much fun doing stuff like that. It makes me so happy. When we all went downstairs, we turned on Lilo & Stitch to see if he would like it. I think he did, but he was in a more playful mood about halfway through the movie. Around 10 AM, I went to cut the grass. I was going to do it on Friday, but it was too cold. Then I wanted to do it on Saturday, but it was too cold again, and windy! So, I finally got to it on Sunday. Later in the afternoon, Lea and I tried to relax while Mr. O ran around playing with all of his toys. Then, I went to the store to pick up some groceries, and grilled my famous BBQ chicken again when I came home. Lea put Mr. O to bed, and then I did the trash and went for a walk. It was much colder than I expected, so I cut it short!

It was a good week, and I hope this next one is even better!

Peter
