Weekly Review 31

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Note: Before I begin, I want to clarify something. It has been brought to my attention by a reader of mine (who shall remain anonymous) that I write these weekly reviews in a way that implies Lea is never around. I don’t see it that way, but that’s what she, I mean this person, said. So, I just want to make it clear that Lea is around most of the time. Like, ninety-nine percent of the time. Yes, she has things going on sometimes, but she is here being a good mother and wife. Also, whenever I say “we” are playing, I thought it was implied that meant me, Lea, and Mr. O.

So, to recap: Lea is:

  1. Here, 99% of the time
  2. A good mother and wife
  3. Plays with me and Mr. O

If my posts come off as “she is not here”, then I apologize! Okay, now that that’s cleared up, let’s get to the Weekly Review:

It started bright and early on Monday morning. I was eating breakfast and sitting peacefully in the quietness of my home when suddenly I heard this loud buzzing sound shoot past my ear. I looked around for a minute and found the source of one of the most annoying sounds in the world: a fly. A disgusting, dirty fly made its way into our home, and I had to take action. Thankfully, I was not alone.

Winston the cat joined me in my pursuit, and together we ran around the kitchen taking turns swatting the fly. Eventually, I hit it; it was the first and final blow. I have a feeling that’s going to happen a lot this summer. It was a good way to start my day! It had the adrenaline pumping lol. After work, Mr. O and I played in the backyard for almost an hour. It was a lot colder than we thought it was going to be, but this kid loves being outside. So there was zero chance we were going back in anytime soon. While we were out there, we played T-ball, kicked his soccer ball around, and then we chased each other around. It was a really fun time.

Later in the evening, my cousin came over to visit. She just flew in from overseas for Easter, and she wanted to come see Mr. O before he went to sleep. It was a relaxing night of talking, hanging out, and watching Tim Robinson’s I Think You Should Leave on Netflix (if you want a good laugh, check that show out!).

On Tuesday morning, I planned my next historical site to visit in Northwest Indiana. It’s a place I’ve been to a few times, and I think it’s really interesting. I am excited to get started on it. When Mr. O woke up, we played upstairs for a little bit, and then I had to go to work. It was a very busy day, but towards the end of my shift, it slowed down. In the evening, we made dinner (yes, that includes Lea, who is here 99% of the time!), watched some TV, then went our separate ways for the night after Mr. O went to sleep. Lea (who, again, was home) went to read and lie in bed, while I played Baldur’s Gate 3 on their new cross-play mode! It’s part of the game’s new update, so my friend from college and I started our own campaign together. He plays on PC, and I play on my PS5. It’s so much fun and I can’t wait to play more!

On Wednesday, I was very excited to post my latest Exploring the Region content. This post was about an old, historical house in Crown Point, Indiana. It’s called the Wellington A. Clark House, and it has a fascinating history. You can find that post here: https://theregionlife.com/2025/04/16/the-wellington-a-clark-house/

In the evening, we (yes, Lea and I) made dinner and watched the first half of the Bulls’ play-in game. Of course, they lost and are eliminated from the playoffs. Their season is over, and next season is already over, too. I’ve given up completely on this organization (still love them though, except for Jerry Reinsdorf. He is a terrible owner).

On Thursday, I woke up (I hate saying this because everybody does it every single day) and worked out in the basement. It felt really good to get it done first thing in the morning. Then, Mr. O and Lea left the house. She was leaving to go to work, but before that, she dropped off Mr. O at my mom’s house. So it was a quiet day at work and home. I will say I missed my little man banging on my door. On Thursday night, I picked up Mr. O, and we met Lea and my three cousins at Texas Roadhouse for dinner. One cousin is visiting from the UK, and the other two (who are sisters) are back in town from college for Easter. It was a nice dinner together, and Mr. O loved spending time with them.

On Friday morning, we (Lea, Mr. O, and I) played for an hour or so before I had to start working. The workday was okay. It was going fine until I came back from my lunch break. I locked my computer like normal, but when I tried to sign back in, there was no option to type in my password, and then the fingerprint option was not working. So, I had to call IT, and that took an hour out of my day. It stunk, but thankfully, they helped me figure it out. When Mr. O woke up from his nap, he learned a new word. He started calling me Pete. He must have heard Lea (who is home most of the time) call me that, and it just now clicked for him, lol. It’s so cute, and now he goes back and forth between Dada and Pete.

Since it was Good Friday, Lea and Mr. O went to church for the afternoon service, while I had to stay home and work because I didn’t plan to take time off for some reason, and it was impossible to get the day off in time. Oh well, next year! On the bright side, I got off work an hour early, so I was able to get in a quick run around the neighborhood before it started raining. It was beautiful out. It was dark and gloomy, but warm and windy. I loved it, but my body did not. I am so sore! When I came back from my run, I went downstairs to get a good lift in. Then, I showered, and by the time I was done, Lea and Mr. O were home. We (again, all of us) played, and I occasionally read Mr. O whatever new book he would bring me. We were also watching the White Sox game, which was exciting. They lost to the Red Sox, but it went to extra innings, so at least it wasn’t a blowout this time.

On Saturday morning, I went to church for a beautiful service. Once it finished, I went to Menards to pick up a few things and then came back home. We put on the Sox game, again, and hung out and rested most of the day. I was in for a long night. Since it was the day before Easter, our church had a midnight service to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. It’s always so beautiful, but I know from years of experience that I need to rest all day in order to have energy to stay up so late. So, I tried to nap. I failed horribly. I went to the midnight service anyway. It started at 10:45 PM, and the entire service (plus a huge meal afterwards) officially ended around 4 AM. I, however, left around 12:45 AM. It was still a long night for me, and I came home and passed out!

On Sunday, I felt like I was in the movie The Lion King. Does anyone remember at the beginning of the movie, when Mufasa and his whole gang were sleeping, and little baby Simba came running in bright and early, jumping all over him, screaming “Dad, Dad, wake up!”? Well, if you do, then you know how my morning went. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved it. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I was already kind of waking up, and I could hear Mr. O creeping into my room, whispering “Dada?”. It was so cute. I still tried to sleep, and that’s when he got more playful.

He climbed onto the bed and started jumping all over me and smacking my head, screaming “DADA! DADA!”, lol. He was so happy and giggly, it was a great way to wake up, even though I was exhausted. So, after I finally got out of bed, I came downstairs, and he wanted to play with me. We played, I read him a book, and then Lea (who was home, like she is most of the time) brought out an Easter basket that the Easter Bunny left for Mr. O. He was so excited! A few hours later, he went down for a nap, I went to the store, and then we all got ready to go to my mom’s for Easter dinner.

The food was delicious and we had a good time. Then, we went to my aunt’s house for dessert, and we got to see a few of my cousins. It was nice to hang out and see everyone for a bit. Mr. O had a blast. One of his little friends was also there, and we had an Easter egg hunt for them (he didn’t care for it). He loved playing outside and was so sad we had to leave a few hours later. The rest of the night was relaxing. It was a great holiday and a good week. Also, I want to remind everyone one last time that Lea is home most of the time. This anonymous reader said that it sounded like Lea was never home, which is just not true.

How was your week? How was your Easter? I hope they were both great!
