Weekly Review 28

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Monday

It started bright and early on Monday morning. I was able to wake up a little bit before Mr. O, so I had my quiet time as I ate my breakfast. When the little prince woke up, we did our usual routine: change his clothes, brush our teeth, and head downstairs. While he played with his toys, I made him breakfast. He’s been enjoying waffles lately, so I make him a couple and pair it with a banana. He LOVES bananas. After work, we played with his Hot Wheels a little bit and I went to the store to do some grocery shopping. When I came home we ate dinner and watched The Sopranos.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, I woke up way before everyone else for the first time in a long time. I’m not sure why. I didn’t get that good of sleep, but I also wasn’t tired when I woke up. Anyway, with all of my free time that morning, I was able to do some cleaning. I did the dishes and picked up around the house. It always feels good to have a clean kitchen! Later that night we made tacos and immediately had to give Mr. O a bath afterwards lol. He sure knows how to make a mess.

Wednesday

Oof. Wednesday was a rough one at work. Not just for me but for everyone. We were so busy, and I was so irritable all day (for different reasons. Being busy at work doesn’t really get to me in this way. However, yes, it was a work-related issue that was annoying me!). Finally, when the workday was over, me and Mr. O were having a guy’s night. Lea had plans, so it was just me and my little man. We played, ate some dinner, and then I read him a book and put him down to sleep. He is so precious. Especially at night. After I was positive he was asleep, I went downstairs to get a good workout in before bed. It feels great to exercise and shower right before I pass out.

Thursday

On Thursday, I slept in a little bit. It’s become a bad habit of mine in recent weeks. I don’t know if it’s because I am tired from my day or if I stay up too late (I am typically asleep by 10:30/11!), but I need to get back into my normal sleep routine. Thankfully, though, when I woke up, Mr. O was still asleep. So, I was able to shower and eat quickly before the human tornado was awake. When he finally woke up, we played in his playroom while he munched on a banana. He prefers to hold them on his own now, and he only brings it to me when he wants me to peel it more, lol. After work, we played some more and ate dinner. Later that night, around 11 pm, I was lying in bed, and I still can’t believe what happened. I caved and bought an antenna so I could watch the Bulls and White Sox again.

I know, I know. I have been talking so much smack about their decision to take everything to a new streaming service, but I miss my teams! It was a moment of weakness, and I realized I wasn’t going to win this fight. So, I bought a digital antenna for twenty bucks off Amazon.

Friday

Mr. O woke up very early this day. Me and “Ninnie” went into his room to get him up for the day, and it was the most adorable sight ever. When we put him to sleep on Thursday, he would not go unless he had his bear with him. So when I went to get him up on Friday, he was in his crib, just sitting there calmly hugging his bear. It was such a sweet sight. Later that morning, Lea and Mr. O went to the town hall to get a permit for our house so we could have a fence put in (finally), and then they went and hung out by the lake since it was so nice out.

Apparently, Mr. O loved the peacefulness of the water and the birds chirping and flying overhead. What he did not like, I was told, was when this man (who lived near the lake) started working outside and doing construction. He was making so much noise that Mr. O turned around to scold him with a really mean look! I mean it when I say my toddler son is an old man, lol. I have to say, I was really jealous they were able to spend their morning that way. I wish I could have been there.

On Friday night, I met Lea, Mr. O, my mom, my aunt, my cousin, and grandma at Chilis for dinner. My aunt and cousin live in Florida, and my grandma has been staying with them all throughout the winter, and now she is back home. So, we wanted to get together and go out to eat. It was a good time, with good food, and Mr. O had a blast. When we came home, we put him in the bath right away because he was a mess! He was touching everything at the restaurant, and he had food all over himself. It was a great night.

Saturday

On Saturday, I slept in AGAIN. Hey, I’m not saying I don’t like it, I just know it’s going to get me in trouble soon, lol. When we went to get Mr. O up and ready for the day, Lea and I couldn’t help but notice how happy he was. He must have had a great sleep because he was so smiley! Once we did our morning routine, we went to his playroom and played with his trainset again. You know, I thought I would be sick of it by now, but I’m not. It’s actually really fun to play with (when he lets me).

Saturday morning was so relaxing. It felt like such a Spring day. It was lightly raining. I was folding laundry on the couch while Lea cleaned the kitchen, and Mr. O rode his bike around like a maniac without a care in the world. It was peaceful. A few hours went by, and it was time for Mr. O to take a nap. After I put him down, I was able to get a great workout in, and then I had some time to kill, so I played Baldur’s Gate 3. I am in the final act of the game and I still can’t believe how much there is to do in there. I’m going to have to play a whole new campaign and do everything I didn’t do the first time to see how it plays out. It’s an incredible game.

Around three-o-clock, I went upstairs to get ready for the Bulls game. I was going with a few friends: my cousin, my goddaughter’s father, and Mr. O’s godfather, Demetri. We drove up to the city in my cousin’s Tesla. I had never been in one before that night, and I really enjoyed it. That car can do so much! It was really cool. As you can imagine, the whole drive up, we were talking about the car, lol. When we eventually arrived in the city, we had a reservation at a place called Ranallis. It’s a nice bar, and they have good food. We ordered a couple of pizzas and calamari. Good food, good atmosphere, great time! The game was fun, too. The Bulls played surprisingly well, although they lost by one point. I’m not upset about it, though, I’ve learned not to get my hopes up with them.

Sunday

On Sunday, I was exhausted. I came home around 11:30 pm, and I couldn’t fall asleep for another twenty or thirty minutes. Again, I slept in. When I woke up, Mr. O was up already, so I ate quickly and went to grab him. He’s been easier to pull out of his crib lately. We spent most of the morning playing and setting up the digital antenna I bought so I could watch the Sox game. Unfortunately, the antenna sucks. Or maybe it’s just the channels they have for the new Chicago Sports Network. Either way, I was not dealing with it. So, I caved again and subscribed to their service. Do I regret it? Not yet, no. We will see how it goes. After playing with Mr. O, it was time for him to take a nap. While he did that, I wrote a blog (which will be published on Wednesday), and I think it’s one of the more interesting ones I’ve written.

Later in the day, we were hit with more bad thunderstorms. Thankfully, this time, there were no tornados. When the storms passed, we put together Mr. O’s little motorcycle my mom got him for Christmas. He loves it so much! He was riding it around the house and dancing to the music it played. Then, we had dinner, gave the little guy a bath, and Lea ran out to grab us some Dairy Queen while I put him down to sleep. When she came back, we watched The Sopranos and then I wrote this blog. Not a bad way to spend my day.

It was a great week, and I hope you had a great one too!

Peter
