Weekly Review 27

Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

I’m going to try out a new format this week. I hope you like it and it’s easier to read along.

Monday

I woke up bright and early once again with my little guy. What started as a very cute morning quickly turned in to an “argument” with a two-year-old.

Me: Buddy, we need to get you out of bed now so we can change your diaper, your clothes and brush your teeth.

Mr. O: No.

Me: Yes.

Mr. O: No.

Me: Yes.

Mr. O: No.

As you can see this went on for a while, but I eventually scooped him up and we continued on with our day. As far as doing things, Monday was more relaxed. We both worked, Mr. O played all day while my mom watched him, then we made tacos that evening, played, and watched The Sopranos (Lea and I watched The Sopranos. Mr. O did not. Just for clarification).

Tuesday

On Tuesday morning I woke up a little earlier than usual, which gave me plenty of time alone that I enjoy so much in the mornings. I showered, rubbed in some beard oil and headed downstairs to eat breakfast and enjoy the peace and quiet. I even had time to read! Another book of mine had finally come in so I was glad I had a chance to read some of it on Tuesday. It’s called Contemporary Moral Issues Facing the Orthodox Church. It’s written by Stanley S. Harakas.

It’s been pretty helpful so far. I’ve had so many questions for so long about what the Church might think on certain issues, so books like this really help me out. Later that morning Mr. O was up and ready to go. We played upstairs in his playroom and he demanded I crawl into his tent with him while he DJ’s. After work we played outside. It was beautiful. Mr. O wanted to take a walk down the street so that’s what him and I did. No stroller, no little blue car, just me and him walking. It was fun but also sad. Our little man is growing so fast.

He loved this little pond across the street from our house so we stopped there for a while so he can stare at it and play with his new rock he found lol.

Beside the great view and his new rock, he loved seeing our neighbors out-and-about. He was running away from me screaming “HIIIIIII” at everyone he saw. He even had his arms open wide like he was going to give them hugs lol. When I finally convinced him to go back to our house so we could play in our driveway/yard, we brought one of his basketballs outside and we were playing catch for a little bit. It was fun and the hour went by too fast. Eventually dinner was ready so we had to go inside. To my surprise when I opened the X app for a minute before we ate dinner, I saw that a ton of the JFK assassination files had been released by The White House.

I’ve always been interested in that tragic event, but not enough to try and read through all those documents lol. I’m still waiting for someone to write a piece on it so I can share it with all of you.

Wednesday

On Wednesday I also had extra time in the morning so I did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen a bit. Once Mr. O was up I made him breakfast and we watched some Thomas & Friends. An hour or so later I had to start working, so I went into my little office and closed the door. It was nice out though so I opened my window and let the cool breeze come in. It felt amazing! I also didn’t put my headphones in for almost the entire morning. I just loved listening to the birds chirping while I worked. It was relaxing and peaceful.

In the evening we had more severe storms passing through the region. Lots of high winds and big balls of hale. Of course, we had another tornado warning. It was just me and Mr. O at home so we went into the basement and sat under the stairs. He LOVED it lol. He obviously didn’t understand what was happening, which made it easier on me because I hate tornadoes so much and I was worried, if I’m being honest. Since Lea was out (trapped in Target until the tornado warning went away) all I could do was hurry and take Mr. O into the basement. I grabbed a few of his toys, snacks and his water and shoes and we went down. I felt horrible I couldn’t get the cats and bring them down. If anything had happened I would have felt so horrible. Thankfully, nothing happened and an hour later we were able to go back upstairs and eat dinner. After Mr. O went to bed and I knew the worst of the storm was gone, I worked out downstairs.

Thursday

Thursday was an interesting day on X. I read that someone found structures under the pyramids in Egypt. Did anyone else hear about this? I need to look into it more but I read a few posts suggesting someone did some kind of test or study and found huge cylindrical structures underneath the pyramids (or one of the pyramids). If that’s real that is a huge discovery. I need to find a legitimate source on this and I will get back to you all.

In the evening I made dinner and we did our usual wind down routine. It was an easy night.

Friday

I could not wait for work to be done on Friday. I was looking forward to this day for so long. Lea and I were going out on a date and I just wanted it to be time already! As we were getting ready to go out, we were playing music and Mr. O was running around upstairs and having a blast. He hadn’t realized we were going to be leaving yet lol. Once my mom arrived to stay with Mr. O and put him to bed we left and it was wonderful. As you know we love Mr. O, but a break every once in a while, is great.

We went to dinner at Prime Steakhouse in Crown Point, Indiana. It was a cute little place. Very fancy, but not in a fancy kind of way. I don’t know if that makes sense at all. It made you feel fancy with the music and the aesthetic. Okay, I honestly don’t know if that’s the right word to use or not lol I don’t think I’ve ever used it before. Let me try one more time: when we arrived there was a waiting area with a tent right outside their main entrance. It was nice. Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis were all playing overhead, candles were lit and there was a little electric fireplace next to a few chairs. Inside the lights were kind of dim, there was a very nice bar with tables all around and the napkins folded in that triangle shape and the nice silverware all set up for the guests.

It was really pretty and the music just made it feel so classy lol.  I don’t know. There, that’s how I describe it. Anyway, it was so much fun, the food was good and the desert was even better. Take a look at my appetizer and my dessert (FYI – I didn’t realize until we were about to leave that I didn’t take a picture of my actual dinner lol I ordered salmon!). The first is my appetizer – grilled Octopus. It was delicious. The second is my dessert – Banana and peanut butter cheesecake. It was even better!

Saturday

I was up at 6am the following day and guess who was up already? That’s right, Mr. O. I made him some waffles and we watched some train videos on YouTube. When Lea woke up she went to breakfast with some friends so it was me and my little guy for a couple hours. We listened to Toy Story 2 on his Toniebox and then he was dancing and singing to Ms. Rachel’s songs about the alphabet lol. When he went down for a nap I worked out and ate my leftovers from the night before. I also caught up on Impractical Jokers a bit. Gosh I love that show.

When Mr. O woke up we went to Southlake Mall in Merrillville, Indiana. We started a tradition of taking him on his birthdays to get a birthday bear from Build A Bear. This year he picked out the outfit and, to our surprise, he picked out a Bulls uniform for his bear lol. No, I did not push him to pick that out. I wanted him to pick the Superman outfit, but he was not interested. After Build A Bear, we found a little shop in the middle of the mall called Custom Embroideries.

If you follow me on Instagram and saw my post, you saw that they had made me my first ever piece of clothing with The Region Life on it! I love it so much.

It looks great, the man working there was great and very fast. He made that in under thirty minutes! Fantastic service and I hope to use them again in the future. If you’re in the region and at Southlake mall, be sure to check out Custom Embroideries!

When we finally arrived home we made dinner and binged The Sopranos a little bit. It was a quiet night to end the day.

Sunday

After our busy day on Saturday I was done for. My body was so tired! I slept in until 7:30am and it felt amazing. I don’t know how long Mr. O was up though, but he was up long before I was, I know that for a fact. I hope he didn’t get up really early because then I would feel bad lol. Anyway, I made us breakfast and we played in his play room with his new train set. After an hour or so we went into our room to fold laundry while he sprinted up and down the hallway again lol. I don’t know where he finds the energy. Eventually, it was mid-day and Mr. O went down for a three hour nap. In that time I was able to work out, make lunch, shower, do the dishes, and play Baldur’s Gate 3. That’s how long this kid was knocked for!

When he finally woke up I made him a PB&J for lunch and we read some of his Thomas the tank engine books. He then wanted to play in his room upstairs so we went back up and played with his trains. Later that evening I wanted to show him the movie Shrek because I love it. He was terrified and I felt horrible lol. So then I changed it to Despicable Me (because he loves Minions). He was terrified AGAIN. I swear I was no doing this intentionally! So, we put on Toy Story 2 again and all was right in the world.

It was a fun week and a really good week. I enjoyed it very much. I hope you all had a great week as well.

Peter
