It started on Monday and, once again, Mr. O was up bright and early. He woke up before I even finished my breakfast! I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but the early mornings are my quiet time. Before everyone wakes up and it’s all chaotic and then I have to go to work. I enjoy my 5:30/6am breakfast and social media scroll in the quietness of my house. I haven’t had that in SO LONG lol.

Enough complaining…after I finished my breakfast (I felt rushed!) I went and took the little man his bottle of milk and tried to catch him as he rolled around his crib giggling because he didn’t want me to pick him up. This is almost a daily occurrence now lol. Also, it’s harder than you think! The crib is really uncomfortable to bend over and especially if you’re trying to quickly grab a 35 pound toddler. I eventually caught him and scooped him up before he could get away again. When we went downstairs we listened to his music on his Toniebox. He just recently received a Buzz Lightyear one from his mother, which tells the story and sings the songs of Toy Story 2. After work we played outside as a family. It was beautiful out and Mr. O loved being pulled around in his cart like he was royalty. He had his shades on, his arms resting on the side of the cart as he leaned back. He was looking so cool (as always) until his butt slipped and he fell on the floor of the cart lol. He didn’t cry but he grunted, huffed and puffed until he eventually needed my help sitting him back upright. He’s so cute.

About forty minutes later it was time to go inside because dinner was ready. He was NOT happy. He threw a huge fit for what felt like an eternity. As parents we’ve learned to just let him get it out of his system, because after a while he settles down and notices all his toys inside and starts playing and being sweet as ever again. That night Lea made these delicious chicken, bacon, and ranch wraps. It’s a great new addition to our recipe book!

On Tuesday morning it was the same deal as Monday. Tried to grab Mr. O as he rolled around the bed, except this time I let him sit in there as long as he wanted because Winston the cat, aka Winnie, aka Ninnie (what Mr. O calls him) came into the room. They played while Mr. O was in his crib for a few minutes. He would stick his hand out for Ninnie to sniff and then he’d pull it away laughing. He wonders why the cats don’t want to play with him! Lol. When we went downstairs we watched Thomas the tank engine. I don’t know if I’ve said this before but I’ve realized Thomas is a jerk and a bit of a narcissist. He’s always “me, me, me”. Yeah, he helps out his friends every now and then but he’s constantly worried about himself and how he “should have saved the day” instead of another train. I think I’m watching this too much and analyzing it too deeply.

I often find myself wondering “how do they have faces and how can they talk? How are they conscious? None of the humans care that their trains are talking and getting into all kinds of mischief on Sodor?” It’s tiring. That night I made dinner, we watched some Tv and played. Then, after Mr. O went to sleep I wrote a blog about Joe Rogan and Art Bell. I put a lot of thought into this one and I enjoyed writing it. If you haven’t read it yet, please do! On Wednesday I woke up with Mr. O and when we came downstairs he immediately demanded a “nana” (banana). So I gave him one and we went on with our day. Later on I listened to an interesting old Art Bell episode. The guest spoke about Atlantis and time travel. It was really neat and I enjoyed it a lot. After that I listened to Joe Rogan’s latest episode (as of Wednesday last week) with Jacques Vallee. Now that was really, really interesting. There was so much information to try and comprehend I think I’m going to have to listen to it again another day lol.

That night we were supposed to make tacos, but I can’t remember why we didn’t. Instead we winged it and made nachos so the meat didn’t go to waste. They were surprisingly pretty good for a last second switch. On Thursday Mr. O finally slept in a little bit. I was able to eat alone in the quietness of my home and do the dishes before he woke up and before work. When he eventually woke up we put on Ms. Rachel for the first time in a long time. After work we played outside again. It was fun until we had to end it because Mr. O picked up a piece of goose poop. It was DISGUSTING. I had to scoop him up, drag his car and water back to the house with us (mind you we were almost all the way down the street), and hold him in one arm while he screamed and threw a fit. Wiggling out of my arms as I squeezed to hold on. As all of this was happening his hand was disgusting and he was touching me all over trying to push himself out of my arms. It was very chaotic.

When we got inside his little fit continued for a bit until dinner was ready and then he was a happy boy again lol. Also, yes, I washed his hands as soon as we walked through the door. On Friday morning I was able to do some reading. I was flipping through the same book I mentioned in the last weekly review (or the one before that), The Orthodox Church: 455 Questions and Answers. Once again it was interesting and helpful to me. So helpful that I ordered another book by the same author, and then an extra book that’s been on my list for a while. The one by the same author is called Contemporary Moral Issues Facing the Orthodox Church. It sounds interesting and I’m excited for it to come in. The second book I ordered is called Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future.

I’ve been following some popular Orthodox Christian accounts on X lately and many of them have recommended that book so I finally got around to ordering it. Soon enough Mr. O was awake and we played a bit before work. On Friday night we had a big, nasty storm tearing through the region. We had severe thunderstorm warnings, very high winds and a tornado warning. Once again, there was a tornado right around the corner from our neighborhood. It took down trees and ruined people’s roofs. I don’t think anyone was hurt (I hope not). It was scary. I think they said it was an EF – 1. If I remember correctly from my tornado training (watching the movie Twisters), an EF – 1 is the lowest on the scale. I don’t know. Don’t listen to me.

Although there was a tornado warning I made the decision not to wake Mr. O and go down into the basement. In hindsight that was a bad idea. Thankfully it passed very quickly and didn’t harm us. At the time when I made decision there was only 20 or 30 minutes left on our tornado warning before it expired (which means it has passed and there’s no danger), and we didn’t know about the EF-1 right around the corner. Next time I think we will have to wake him though. I’m not taking that chance again. At 3am I finally fell back asleep. On Saturday morning, as you can imagine, I was knocked out. I’m not sure when Mr. O woke up but he was sitting in his crib waiting for me when I woke up lol. I woke up around 7:30am, so he most likely got up at 6:30 or 7. Either way he wasn’t waiting that long, and he’s a good boy. He doesn’t scream or cry when he gets up. He sits there patiently and quietly lol.

After I brought him downstairs we ate breakfast together and played with his toys. Lea left for the day and went down to visit her family and to watch our nephews basketball game, so it was a boys day! We’ve been trying not to have the TV on as much anymore, so there was lots of playing and running around. Especially because Mr. O learned duck-duck-goose somehow lol. He walks up to me and smacks my head and says “duh…duh…goo!” and runs away so I can chase him. So I got some good cardio in on Saturday! He’s also been saying “Yee-hawwww!” a lot too lol. He recently received an Etch A Sketch so we played with that too. He wanted me to draw him a “choo-choo” so I did and I worked hard on it and as soon as he saw it he erased it! Like it meant nothing to him! It was so insulting.

When he went down for a nap I did the dishes and ordered food. I ordered from Corky’s Dogg House, which is right around the corner from us. I wanted to try something new from there. Their Chicago dogs are good, their burgers are good, so I figured whatever else they made would be good. Well, I was right! I ordered a Gyros and I enjoyed it very much. After I finished eating and watching Hart of Dixie I went to play Baldur’s Gate 3 some more. I finally made it to Act 3 (as I mentioned before) and we are just outside the gates of the city. Currently my squad and I are trying to solve a murder. Someone killed a priest. We know who did it but we have no proof to bring to the investigator. I’m starting to think we did the whole investigation thing a little backwards!

When Mr. O woke up I made him lunch and we played with his new dinosaur toys. Then he was really cuddly so I broke our no-tv rule and put on Danny Go (another kids channel on YouTube), his steam trains, and then we ended the night with Moana 2. It was not as good as the first and I was a hater for a while, but the movie eventually won me over. The music was not great though and I stick by that. I guess we were just spoiled with the music in the first movie. On Sunday I slept in AGAIN! Poor Mr. O waking up way before me two days in a row. He’ll manage. Since I woke up after him, it meant I most likely couldn’t shower and get us both ready for church within the next hour, so I decided to put on a livestream on YouTube of a Greek Orthodox Church so we can watch.

I wish our church did that. It’s good outreach and would connect us with many more young people. Later on in the morning we went upstairs to play in Mr. O’s playroom. He called me over to his tent so I can watch him DJ. He also showed me a new way he gets in and out of his tent – threw the window lol. I also learned he loves the flashlight in the drawer of my side table. He was shining it everywhere. “Not in my eyes, please” I would say to him. Bad idea. After I would say that he’d walk over and smirk and shine it directly into my face. I had to take it away lol. When he went down for a nap I worked out for the first time in two weeks. It felt great! After that I played Baldur’s Gate 3 again, and then Lea was home from her little overnight visit.

The rest of the night was relaxing. I went grocery shopping, made dinner, gave Mr. O a bath and then I wrote this (you’re welcome). It was a great week and I hope you all had a great one as well!

Peter
