Hello readers. Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.
On Monday it was President’s Day so I had the day off. Mr. O slept in (thankfully) and it gave me time to do some reading. For the first time in a while I picked up my Edgar Allan Poe book I had bought last year. It has [I think] all of his stories, poems, etc. inside. It’s a really cool looking book too.

I found one poem of his and I really enjoyed it. I know it’s probably been wildly popular for many years, but it was my first time actually reading through it lol. I wanted to share:

After I finished reading, Mr. O was up and ready to start the day! I went and tried to wrestle him out of his crib as he laughed and laughed. He loves to roll around so I can’t grab him. He thinks it’s hilarious (it is lol). Finally, I was able to catch him and we did our normal morning routine of brushing our teeth and then we went downstairs to play while we watched Thomas the Tank Engine. I think the show is called Thomas & Friends but I’m not sure. Who cares lol. After a few minutes I noticed Mr. O was very low energy. So we snuggled on the couch and started watching Toy Story 2. He started having a cough and right then I knew we would have to cancel our trip to Florida. We were supposed to leave later in the week but I did not see it happening. Once he is sick, we’re all sick.
Fortunately, I was not sick right away, so when he went down for a nap I was able to do a quick workout downstairs, eat, shower, and then watch NBA-star Anthony Davis’s new prank show called Foul Play with Anthony Davis. I watched it on Max, I’m not sure where it airs regularly though. He’s friends with the guys from Impractical Jokers and they helped him launch this show. It wasn’t bad. I laughed a bit!
By the end of the night Lea and I realized we weren’t feeling well either. We gave ourselves until Wednesday to decide if we were still going to go on our trip down to Florida with my mom. On Tuesday we were all feeling worse. I woke up with a sore throat and I started regretting taking my healthy body for granted every day lol. By lunch time I was feeling a little better and my mom stopped by with some soup for us all. After work I felt well enough to keep my haircut appointment so I went to finally get that done. My hair was a mess for the longest time!
On my way home I picked up some ice cream for Lea, did the dishes and listened to my audio book. Then, I took a steamy shower to decongest my sinuses and passed out with some Nyquil. On Wednesday I was starting to feel much better. My congestion from the night before (which was miserable) mostly disappeared, and Lea was starting to feel like she was getting better too. Unfortunately, Mr. O was still feeling unwell. He had a cough and congestion pretty bad, so I made the decision, sadly, to cancel our trip to Florida. I didn’t want to do that to him. I’m not going to force him to go through the stress of traveling on a plane for the first time while he is sick. My mom still went by herself though and seems to be enjoying it lol.
That night we made an easy dinner. We put some mini corn dogs in the oven and they were delicious. Afterwards, we gave Mr. O a bath and put him down for a good nights sleep. Lea and I finally finished This is Us and I have to say it was a pretty good ending. Nothing special, kind of sad. Around midnight Mr. O was up crying so I grabbed some milk and Tylenol and went to sit and rock with him for thirty-to-sixty minutes until he fell back asleep. About twenty minutes after I put him down again he was up, but I let him cry it out this time. I hate doing that but it needs to be done. I was also very congested again and was having trouble sleeping.
On Thursday I realized the feeling of getting better was a lie. I still felt horrible. Thankfully I kept all my vacation days so I was off Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday lol. Anyway, on Thursday I didn’t feel good. Me and Mr. O hung out, watched a few movies (High School Musical 2 and Toy Story 2) and then he played while I did some chores around the house. On Thursday night I watched the NHL’s 4 Nations championship game between the United States and Canada. I think I mentioned this last week but I am not a hockey guy, a puck head, whatever you call hockey fans, but this tournament was really entertaining. Canada ended up winning in overtime (I think it was overtime. I don’t know it was late and I didn’t feel good lol). It was a great game. Congratulations to them!
On Friday Mr. O and I played basketball on his Little Tikes hoop. He likes to stand on one of his climbing blocks so he’s even with the hoop and throw the ball in. He made, like, five in a row at one point. I was impressed lol. He did miss a ton of shots, which gave me approximately fifty points and fifteen rebounds (not to brag or anything). Then we hung (by their hands) Batman and Woody from the net of the hoop and swung them around. He loved it. Mr. O then became fatigued so we sat on the couch and watched another video from Steam Trains Galore. We basically hung out all day, did some laundry, played some more, then started this show Hart of Dixie. Lea suggested it and I have nothing else to watch so I figured why not. It’s not bad so far!
On Saturday morning it was just me and my boy. Lea had breakfast plans with some of her friends and then went to Target to buy a few more decorations for Mr. O’s birthday party that’s coming up soon. So me and my boy played with his toys while listening to some Sinatra on the record player. We then sat in front of the record player so he could press a bunch of buttons and watch the record spin around lol. He did all this while practicing using a “big boy fork” and picking up bananas with it. Later on in the day me and Mr. O went to my moms to spend some time with her dog while she is in Florida. It was pretty fun, except Mr. O didn’t believe his grandmother wasn’t home so we had to check every single room in the house while he yelled “hello? HELLO?”. A couple hours later we came home and spent the night hanging out with Lea/”momma” and doing our normal routine: dinner, playtime, wind-down TV time.
On Sunday Lea and I were feeling a little better but Mr. O was still congested, had a cough and a runny nose. Poor guy. We spent most of the morning upstairs folding laundry while Mr. O ran around playing with whatever he could find. Then we came downstairs to play with his actual toys and eventually put him down for a nap. I finally had time to play Baldurs Gate 3 and it did not disappoint (well, actually, it did). I was finally able to win this big fight I was having trouble with for a while, but then I screwed it all up and have to do it again. I didn’t have time to save! Right when the battle ended it went to a cut scene with this huge god, and I did not want to listen to her or do what she said, so she killed us all and now I have to do the entire battle over again. You can imagine how upset I am. UGH!
Anyway, overall it’s been a tiring week. I also still have Monday and Tuesday off, but you will hear about those in the next edition of my weekly review. I hope you all had a great week!
Peter
