With the NBA trade deadline now over, it is officially time for my Bulls update (better known as my Bulls rants!).
De-Aaron Fox to Spurs, Zach LaVine to Kings in 3-team trade
The Bulls are shipping Zach LaVine to Sacramento. What did they get for him, you ask? Oh well buckle up because there’s so much to tell you! …Just kidding. They didn’t get ANYTHING. Oh wait, you know what the Bulls got? The Bulls “regained their 2025 first-round pick from San Antonio, as well as three players: Zach Collins and Trae Jones from the Spurs, and guard Chris Duarte (espn.com).”
Wow what a haul for an all-star caliber player like LaVine who, mind you, is having a fantastic season. You know what this reminds me of? It reminds me of when the Bulls traded Alex Caruso to Oklahoma City and got nothing in return. Sure, they received Josh Giddy (whoop-de-doo), but that’s all. I complain about the owner of the Bulls a lot, and he is partly to blame, but I feel like I’ve given too much of a pass to the management team. They are TERRIBLE. Arturas Karnisovas and Marc Eversley – two of the absolute worst people to run a professional basketball team.
These two knuckle heads have no idea what they’re doing. Zero, ZERO, additional picks from trading both LaVine and Caruso? You got nothing in return? This is so insane to me. I mean, I knew they were dumb and terrible at their jobs but this…this is actual insanity. They need to be fired, the entire organization needs a rebuild. It is trash! I love the Bulls, but the way they are operated makes me want to pull my hair out (which wouldn’t be good because I’m starting to lose some of it).
How is it that the Bulls ended up with even more guards than before the trade deadline? Why do we have so many guards? I’m asking so many questions today because I am genuinely curious and I don’t have the answers.
“Chicago has been trying to trade LaVine for most of the past year as it attempts to rebuild around a younger team (espn.com).” Okay, that’s fine. Let’s commit to doing a rebuild if that’s what the best direction is for the team (it is). So, since we now know that a rebuild is best, tell me WHY Arturas Karnisovas is saying stuff like THIS at his press conference?

They’re in a “transitional phase” and there’s “more to be done” but he still thinks they can make the playoffs? What? He then said he “won’t stand in the way of young players making a playoff run” and that it’s a “sign of development and growth”. WHAT THE H#$% is this crap?! Excuse my language, but what the actual F is he talking about? Either commit to a full rebuild or not. If you want a full rebuild don’t say making the playoffs would be good. How would it be good? Would it be good for the players, AK? Would it be good for them to be stuck in NBA purgatory year after year, fighting for a play-in spot only to get crushed and not even make the playoffs? Is that why it would be so good for them? You dope. I know he will never see this, but in case he ever does I just want to ask, how did you ever get this job? I know Jerry Reinsdorf is stupid, so maybe you fooled him, but you did not fool the fans. We see right through you. You are terrible at your job. Go home, find something else to do with your career. I think it’s time for a change.
Do you want to know what else the Bulls did? If you read this far I’m assuming you do lol.
Sources: Bulls, Lonzo Ball agree to 2-year, $20M extension
This is…meh. I think I used all my energy in my rant above. I like Lonzo Ball though, and I am so happy he’s made a full recovery from his injury and, honestly, I don’t blame the Bulls for re-signing him. They stuck by him through his injury, paid him a ton of money, why would they trade him now that he’s healthy? I don’t mind this at all.
He will be a good veteran player for the younger guys, and good mentor to ALL THE GUARDS WE HAVE. Why so many? We’ll never know. It’s one of the great mysteries of the world.
In other news, there was talk about the Bulls listening to offers for Coby White. They did not trade him (which I am happy about). So, to conclude the trade talk, the Bulls only made one trade. One disappointingly stupid trade, and that was sending Zach La Vine to Sacramento for a draft pick they previously owned and three players who won’t make an impact (sorry guys).
Now, on to why the Bulls won’t be good any time soon. Along with everything that was said above, the number one (in my opinion) reason why the Bulls won’t be good is because of ownership. You probably could have guessed where I was going with this. Ownership STINKS. The Reinsdorfs are horrible and they do not care about winning as long as they can nostalgia bait their fans and fill the United Center consistently. Now, I will admit I have been baited. I bought that Derrick Rose jersey about a month ago, remember? Lol. But that’s beside the point! They use the nostalgia of Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose (two players they were lucky to get in the draft) in order to sell tickets and merchandise. That is all they care about. Money, money, money. What about the Bulls being successful and making a playoff run? Nope. They don’t care. What about the fans having a team they can be proud of? Don’t care. It’s all about money for old Mr. Krabs in Chicago.
Another reason they won’t be good is because of the coach. Billy Donovan is not the guy. From what I’ve seen over the years, he is not good at developing young talent. Now that may fall on the organization as a whole, or the other staff, but he’s the head coach. Whenever I watch or whenever I am at the games watching, I notice he rarely plays his rookies. He barely plays his younger guys. He gives them garbage minutes. How is that going to help them develop? Well, I guess now he has no choice thanks to management.
Lastly, and I hate to say it, I blame us. The fans. We keep showing up, we keep watching, we keep buying merchandise. I’m to blame too. I’ve bought a lot of Bulls stuff over the years. If we want this to stop, then we have to stop. We have to stop buying merchandise, we have to stop buying tickets. Most of us, from what I see on X, can’t even watch the games anymore because of their stupid subscription service (thanks, Jerry, you idiot). Now I know it’s impossible to get people to stop going to the games and buying stuff. But I’m just saying that may be the only thing us fans can do that would send a strong message to ownership and management. Stop some of the money from coming in.
This is why I believe the Bulls won’t be good any time soon. Ownership sucks, management sucks, coaching sucks, and us fans love the Bulls so much that we’re willing to stand by them in the worst of times. It’s such a toxic relationship, but I can’t quit it. All I have now is a little bit of hope that things will get better eventually!
I hope you enjoyed my rant update. I feel like an old man yelling at the sky.

Peter
