Weekly Review 20

Hello everyone. Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

Monday was more of a relaxing day for us. Lea and I worked, then did the usual nightly routine with Mr. O. We ate (leftovers. I don’t remember what it was), played with the little guy while we watched This Is Us, and then when he went to bed we turned on The Sopranos.

On Tuesday I took the day off because Mr. O had his first ever dentist appointment. We will discuss this in a minute. On Tuesday morning I woke up early so I could workout downstairs. I love starting my day like that! I feel so good afterwards. I need to do it more often. After I finished working out and all the stuff that comes after that, Mr. O was up and ready to start the day. I went and changed his clothes, brushed his teeth and then we went downstairs to watch some choo-choo’s on YouTube.

Later that morning we went back upstairs because Lea or, as Mr. O. says, “Ma” finally woke up. While she was getting ready for the day Mr. O and I folded some laundry and moved some clothes around in the machines. After he helped me for five seconds he took the broom out of the laundry room and started sweeping the carpet in our room. He was having a great time lol. Then the cats woke up and made their presence known. Unfortunately for them, Mr. O loves them more than anything and all he ever wants to do is play with them. So, he took his giant broom and started chasing them around upstairs. In a room, out of a room, in a room, out of a room. This went on for a few minutes. When he eventually tired himself out, Mr. O retired to his study (his room), sat on the ground and read some of his books.

After all of that, and Lea was ready for the day, I left her at home with crazy, hyper Mr. O so I could go get a car wash and my oil changed.  It was some nice alone time for about an hour. However, it turns out I didn’t need to be away that long because the woman who was going to do my oil change informed me that I didn’t need one, and that whoever did it last (at the same place) didn’t press some button on my car to reset the monitor, so it’s been telling me for months I need an oil change, but I guess not lol. I did, however, get a free tire check and they filled those up for me in about 5 minutes.

When I came home the little guy was taking a much needed nap. Thankfully this gave me time to work on my presentation for work. I’ve been working on this for a couple week now, and I cannot wait until it’s over. After I finished that, Lea and I watched an episode of The Sopranos. Then, about an hour later, Mr. O woke up and it was time for his first ever visit with the dentist! When we got there he loved it. There was a movie on in the waiting area, there were toys and other kids were coming in and out. He was having a blast. Then, it was his turn to walk back through those doors and see the dentist.

He wanted no part in any of this. Lea had to hold him in her lap, lay him backwards so his head was on the dentists lap, all while he was screaming so hard he was shaking. He did let her brush his teeth though, but he screamed the whole time. After a few minutes it was over and he wanted me to hold him while he gave Lea the side-eye for a few minutes. Once the dentist stopped “torturing” him (his words not mine), he started being all cute and smiling at her. He’s a little flirt. Overall, he did pretty well. She said he is ahead of his age with his teeth and that we have to get him to stop sucking his thumb so much. Some of you won’t believe me when I say this, but he is such a good boy, because when I told him to stop sucking his thumb a few times during the day, he stopped and we haven’t seen him do it again other than bedtime (which is fine).

After the dentist we rewarded him with a trip to Target. Well, I guess it was a reward for Lea too. It was fun! We walked around, he was able to people watch and he got more Hot Wheels to play with. We ended our little day trip with some Starbucks before we left Target. It was a fun afternoon. When we got home I picked up some packages on the porch. 90% of them were for Lea, but one was for me! My Superman popsocket for my phone finally came in!

It says “Take me home” and it’s merch from the new movie that’s coming out this July! After playing for a little while, we decided to order Portillos for dinner. It was really good and we ended the night watching The Sopranos again lol.

On Wednesday there wasn’t too much going on. Work for both of us, then played, ate dinner, put Mr. O to bed and worked on my presentation some more. On Thursday evening it was just me and Mr. O. Lea had dinner plans with some of her friends, so I made myself (heated up in the oven) a chicken potpie and I made Mr. O a delicious grilled cheese. We ate, watched some TV and laughed. Then we played catch. He likes to sit on the couch while I stand a few feet in front of him. I bounce the basketball to him and he loves it. He giggles his little heart out. Then he throws it back, but we have to work on his aim lol.

Before bedtime I turned on a new movie for him. The Goofy Movie I think it was called. I never really watched it growing up and I won’t lie, I think it kind of sucks. From the little bit I saw the other night, the son is a complete loser and a total jerk to his dad lol. That’s a little harsh, and obviously I think they made him that way on purpose. Anyway, it wasn’t a hit with me or Mr. O. So we turned it off early and I gave him a bath. I don’t know why I’m not more prepared after giving him baths for two years now. If he’s getting bath, I’m likely getting a bath because he loves water. He splashes it everywhere and he loves splashing it at me lol. It was fun, but we ended bath time a little quicker that night. Once he was finally asleep I listened to my audiobook of Fourth Wing. It’s pretty good. I’m about half way through. Eventually I turned that off but I could not sleep. It was one of those nights. I could not get comfortable and I was not tired at all. When I checked my phone it was one in the morning, and I had an alarm set for five lol. Ugh, Friday morning was a rough one.

The morning was rough, but it turned out to be better than I thought because I did not realize it was pay day. I guess my weeks have been off lol. It was a nice surprise. After work we played, ate dinner, and I listened to my book some more. On Saturday I slept in (surprisingly). I think It was because the monitor stopped working in the middle of the night. It does that from time to time, so I couldn’t hear Mr. O if he was awake early. When I woke up I went downstairs to eat, then I heard him in his room talking to himself, so I went to go get him. We watched another new movie, and one of my favorites because I think it is so funny, The Emperors New Groove. I was laughing, Mr. O was laughing. It was a good time.

I think he realized he is kind of like the Emperor because he gets whatever he wants (most of the time). I think it’s okay to spoil your kids a little bit when they’re this young. Once they start understanding things more clearly, then I believe that’s when you start humbling them a bit. After the movie we played, he napped, I worked out. After my exercise I made one of the sloppiest cheese omelet’s ever. It was really good though so whatever. I just can’t get the flip right. After I cleaned myself up and Mr. O woke up from his nap, Lea and I put together his birthday party playlist. Lots of Disney songs! Once again, we ordered our dinner. It was an expensive week. We usually cook every night but we didn’t feel like it. This time we ordered burgers from Schoops. If you’re ever in the region, stop by Schoops!

On Sunday Mr. O and I woke up around the same time. We put on the choo-choo’s again and hung out. When he started playing I started making a list of places I wanted to cover for my Exploring the Region series. I just need to figure out how to do it. Typically, I would go and take a few pics and write something up. However, my goal for this year is more video content, so I’m not too sure how to go about this. Do I ask them if I can? (I assume yes), how do I take the video? What music should I use? So many questions I need to find answers to! Lol I also think I am in my head too much and that I will figure it out as I’m doing it all. Practice makes perfect, right?

About an hour later our little family went to Cedar Lake Kitchen for breakfast. It’s a cozy little place right by our house. It was really cool. The service was great, fast, and the food was delicious. They are on my list to explore, I just need to find the time. After breakfast we drove around town dropping off little valentines day gift bags from Mr. O to all his lady friends. When we came home he took a nap, I worked on my presentation some more and did some chores around the house. All while listening to my book! The rest of the night was relaxing. Lea MADE dinner this time, Mr. O napped again, and I wrote this (you’re welcome). It was a great week and I hope you all had one too!

Edit Monday, 5:54am: I am aware of the Zach LaVine trade. I’m waiting until the trade deadline has passed to see if the Bulls do any other stupid stuff. Then I’ll write a Bulls update!
