Hello readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.
It stared on Monday, January 20th. It was MLK Day here in the U.S. and it’s also a bank holiday, so I had the day off. Well, I would have if I didn’t volunteer to work. I don’t mind, I’ve been needing to volunteer for holidays more so here we are. The 20th was also the inauguration of President Trump. Overall it was a good day. What made it even better was the Bears hiring their new head coach – Ben Johnson. I don’t know much about him. I know he comes from the Detroit Lions (who had a very good season) and that many Bears fans desperately wanted him to be our head coach.
I’m not going to let myself get too excited though. I know what happens when I get too excited (heartbreak). I will say it’s refreshing to see at least one Chicago team go all in on trying to win. Doing whatever it takes, spending however much money is needed. I hope it all pays off. After work Mr. O and I watched an episode of Frank Walks while we played and ran around the house. Monday was a good day and I have nothing to complain about!
On Tuesday night I played with Mr. O some more. Mainly because it’s fun and I love playing with him, but also because Lea was trying a new meatloaf recipe and wanted us “Out of my kitchen!”. It was a struggle keeping him contained to one room but we made it work lol. Later that night I wrote a DCU Updates post too! Check it out here: https://theregionlife.com/2025/01/22/dcu-updates-superman-trailer-supergirl-woman-of-tomorrow-filming-and-more/
On Wednesday night it was just me and Mr. O. Lea had an event with some of her friends for their moms group. Once again, we played all night until it was time for bed. We raced his cars, flew Woody and Buzz around, danced, played hide-and-seek, and a lot of other things that probably sound boring to all of you lol but it was another really fun night with my guy. After he went to bed I went downstairs to work out. It felt really good. Especially because I’ve been kind of stressed and anxious lately with work. I’ve said I’m not going to get into it, and it’s not because of my job or anything, I just don’t know who is reading this, you know? So I’ll just leave it at that. Getting a good work out in always helps though!
On Thursday morning I tried waking up extra early so I can go downstairs and get another work out in. I had an alarm set for four AM and four thirty. I was surprised I actually got up! However, it didn’t last long. I only woke up to turn my alarms off and went back to sleep for another hour and a half lol. When I finally got myself out of bed, I went downstairs and grabbed my coat, gloves and shovel. Our driveway needed cleaning again. It wasn’t too bad outside, I hope it stays that way for the rest of winter. I haven’t had to shovel too much this year. I think I just jinxed myself. Shoot.
That evening we made dinner and had a more relaxing night. We let Mr. O watch TWO movies. First, he wanted to watch “Dee”. That means Toy Story 2 (his favorite). “Dee” is how he says Woody lol. Then he wanted “Car” so we put on the movie Cars. Except, once again, it was one of the sequels. After we met his demands it was a peaceful rest of the night.
I have zero notes for Friday lol. On Saturday I decided to sleep in. It felt incredible. I didn’t wake up until 6:30 (I still woke up before everyone else in my house)! As I was sitting in my recliner eating and watching TV, I posted a quick blog. You can find that here: https://theregionlife.com/2025/01/25/first-picture-from-the-set-of-supergirl/
Soon after I finished that, Mr. O was up and blabbering in his crib. I went to get him and eventually we made our way downstairs. Recently he’s been sitting in his crib for a bit before letting us pick him up. He likes us to hand him his milk and he sits there, drinks it, and calls our cats to his room so he can see them. Nothing else can happen until the cats come into his room lol. After I made him breakfast I put on Barney for the first time ever. He’s never seen it before and he was mesmerized. I still can’t tell if he liked it or tolerated it because it was something new. He eventually became bored with it, so I put of an episode of Pardon My Take in the background while he played with his cars.
Later, when he went down for a nap, I was able to get in another good workout. I love having my own gym. Then I watched a little bit of the Chicago White Sox World Series win from 2005 lol. I cannot believe it was 20 years ago already. I remember watching that with my dad and the rest of our family. It was such a great time. On Sunday we went to church. We had a three year memorial for my dad. Mr. O was such a good boy. He played with his car that we keep in his diaper bag, ate his snacks and sang with the choir. After church we stopped by the book store in the church hall and bought him two new Hot Wheels. He was so excited! The rest of the day was spent napping, cleaning up the house, and watching playoff football. It was a great week and I’m excited to see what this new week has in store. I hope you all had a great week too!
