By now you’ve heard me go on and on about how great the Superman teaser trailer is. It’s been a whole month since it’s been released and I have probably watched it at least fifty times. So to start this post I wanted to share some pictures from the short teaser and talk about my favorite parts.
Superman Teaser Trailer
If you want to watch it you can follow this link: https://x.com/JamesGunn/status/1869743248928870579
It starts with Superman falling out of the sky. He’s lying in the snow (likely near his fortress) and he’s covered in blood. What a way to start the teaser. Immediately hooked! Some quick clips shoot across the screen of Clark Kent going to work, Lois Lane walking around and the new Superman score starts to play in the background.
It cuts back to Superman in the snow as he whistles for his dog, Krypto, to come take him home. From there it’s a series of events, all from different points in the movie. We see so much, yet so little. We see Lex Luthor, we see Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern, we see Mr. Terrific and Hawkgirl, and we also see Jonathan Kent and a quick glimpse of Metamorpho. It’s a really great teaser trailer and if you haven’t seen it yet, I obviously recommend watching it.
One of my favorite moments in the trailer was of the apparently war-torn country. They show a clip of people stampeding away from something and you can hear a little boys voice over the noise saying “Superman…Superman”. Then it cuts to the boy lifting a huge Superman flag in the middle of all this chaos, knowing he’s going to come and save him (we have yet to see that, but I’m sure he does). It’s such a short, but sweet moment in the trailer because that’s what Superman is all about. He’s a symbol of hope and that’s what the kid had. It’s truly going to be an incredible movie. Here are some pics from the trailer:

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has reportedly starting filming earlier this month. It will be released in theaters on June 26th, 2026. Milly Alcock is all set to star as Kara, aka Supergirl. I’m really excited for this movie too. If it’s half as good as the story they’re basing it off of I’m going to be really happy and impressed. There haven’t been any set photos (yet) but there have been more casting announcements.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham have been cast as Supergirl’s parents. Krumholtz will play her father, Zor-El and Beecham will play her mother, Alura. This was a surprise. I don’t know why, I guess I should have known they’d have her parents in the movie, but I never thought about it. It was a pleasant surprise though. Now, this next casting announcements is one of my all-time favorites. I think it’s perfect, and not just because the actor and the character look identical. Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo in Supergirl: WOT. It’s apparently more than a cameo as well, which is awesome! If you’re unfamiliar with Lobo, he is an interstellar bounty hunter. I can’t wait to see what his part is in all of this.

Creature Commandos & DC Studios Showcase Podcast
If you’ve kept up with my Weekly Reviews you saw that DC’s Creature Commandos recently aired their season finale. It was so great and I can’t recommend the show enough. A perfect start to the DCU. One thing I enjoyed from the last two epsiodes was seeing how Gotham is going to look in this universe. It gave an eerie feeling for the short seconds it was shown. I think it’s going to be more fantastical than the Gotham’s we’ve seen in other movies. We also were given a glimpse of Batman in the second-to-last episode as well. Now that was something I definitely did not expect. I cannot wait to see the DCU Batman in live action movies.
Following the end of the season, the DC Studios Showcase Podcast had a really great episode. They spoke about the show and had actor (and brother to James Gunn) Sean Gunn on the show to talk about his role as GI Robot and Weasel in Creature Commandos. It was a fun and interesting conversation. If you want to listen to it you can find that here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dc-studios-showcase-the-official-podcast/id1603302127?i=1000682505118
That’s all I have at this time for DCU Updates, but I hope you know I keep an eye out and save everything important so I can discuss it with all of you!
