Weekly Review 17

Hey everyone. Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you!

On Monday night Mr. O and I had a blast. Once I left work and walked out to our living room I took out a Sinatra album and put it on the record player. Mr. O and I danced, laughed, and danced some more until Lea came home. Then, in order to get all his energy out before bed time, we played with his toys and wrestled on the floor lol. It was fun…until he was on top of me. He was so excited and having so much fun that he couldn’t control his drool (he’s teething…I think) and it flew out of his mouth and landed all over my neck. It was disgusting. It was also funny lol.

Once he went down, Lea and I tried to plan his second birthday party. We were going through the guest list to see how many people we were going to invite. Suddenly we realized we never had Mr. O on it lol for his own party! Of course he’s invited, he’s the man-of-the-hour! Once we wrapped that up for the night we turned on This is Us and had a quiet evening.

On Tuesday morning I put on Ms. Rachel for the little guy. It was a very bad idea! He was not having it. He demanded his “schoo-schoo” videos on YouTube (if anyone is wondering the videos we watch are from Steam Train Galore). Of course, he got what he wanted. So we sat and watched the trains until I had to start working. Later that evening we did the same routine. We played, we ate, we played some more, Mr. O went to bed and I went downstairs to workout. It was a pretty normal day!

On Wednesday I downloaded The Sims 4 on my PlayStation. I didn’t realize it was free…or at least some version of it was. I created Tony Soprano and have started his criminal career path by causing mischief all over town. It’s pretty fun lol. Once I finished playing I went to hang out with Mr. O and we practiced my trick shots on his Little Tikes basketball hoop. I scored behind the back (with both hands!), throwing it backwards, and kicking it. What can I say? I’m a natural athlete.

I had some time before work started on Thursday morning so I watched the season finale of Creature Commandos. My notes say “OMG”. I know I say it every week and I know I am biased because I love DC Comics, but it was such a good first season. It’s so emotional and it’s such a great start to the DCU. I cannot wait to see how it leads into Superman THIS JULY!

On Thursday I also received a nice surprise. Well, myself and my co-workers. We randomly were told we had an early release. I was really surprised but I was definitely not complaining! Lol. Later that night Lea and I binged the latest three episodes of Barstool Sports’ Surviving Barstool. Entertaining as always.

Since I decided not to work out on Thursday night I woke up at 4:30am on Friday to get a good workout in before my day started. Friday was also our eleven-year-anniversary. It’s the anniversary we keep from when we started dating. In September it will be seven years married. It’s crazy to think we’ve been together over a decade. Time really flies. Eleven years ago we were just kids in college wondering where this new relationship was going to take us. Now we have our own house, A SON, decent jobs and a happy life. It’s so insane to me how fast time goes by. I can’t get over it. I see it every day when Mr. O wakes up. He’s older, he’s smarter, he’s doing and saying new things. It’s just crazy.

On Friday the region was hit with a few inches of snow, so I had to shovel multiple times throughout the day to prevent it from piling up too high. I think, in total, we had about three inches of snow. It’s not that much but I didn’t want to deal with all of it at once at night, so I decided to shovel on my lunch break and after work. We also had guests coming over that night so I wanted to make sure all the snow was removed and our driveway was salted. Once I shoveled for the last time that night, I realized I ran out of salt. So I went to buy some more, and then I went to pick up delicious pizza from Aurelio’s. We were having Mr. O’s godparents over for dinner since we hadn’t seen them in a while, and they also asked to get together so they could see Mr. O and give him his Christmas gifts. It was so much fun! The little guy had a blast “shooting hoops” with his godfather (I put that in quotes because he made Demetri pick him up so he could throw the ball in the hoop lol) and playing with his godmother’s earrings. He loved spending time with them, and so did we!

On Saturday morning I woke up and read Superman: For All Seasons (my favorite show, Smallville, was based off of this story). It’s my second favorite Superman comic, I’ve decided. I started re-reading my favorites and, funny enough, they’re the stories the new movie is inspired by lol. So I re-read Superman: Birthright and I just finished re-reading Superman: For All Seasons. Next, I’m going to read All Star Superman. Anyway, after I finished reading we packed our bags and headed a few hours south to my in-laws to celebrate a late Christmas with our family. The drive was beautiful. Many people think Indiana has no scenery and I believe the people who say that have either never drove through it or just hate small – town – farm life. The huge fields covered in a smooth blanket of snow is one of the prettiest things I’ve seen. I see it a lot (since we visit my in-laws so much) but it never gets old. It was great seeing everyone and exchanging gifts. It was even better watching all the kids play together. Mr. O had so much fun with his cousins. I think that goes without saying at this point lol. For me, it was fun, but I ate too much pumpkin pie and it was crushing me lol. Well, I had two pieces but I cut them pretty thick and I’ve been trying to eat better. So when I say “it was crushing me” I meant mostly mentally and a tiny bit physically lol. I get in my head too much but I really want to live a healthier life. It’s hard sometimes.

I received great gifts and I’m so thankful for my family. My father-in-law bought me and my two brother-in-law’s these really beautiful bracelets. I’m going to go take a link out soon though so it’s not so loose on my wrist, but I can’t wait to wear it. I haven’t decided if I’m going to wear it casually (most likely) or to church, weddings, etc. Events like those where we dress nice. I guess I can do both. I probably will wear it more casually. I’ll have to show you all sometime.

On Sunday we woke up and drove home. As usual, we stopped at Dunkin on our way out to grab some food, coffee and donuts. Mr. O slept the entire car ride. He was TIRED. The boy barely slept on Saturday lol. On the way home Lea and I made a deal: I listen to a book she wants me to read and in return I pick a comic she gets to read. It’s a fun little thing we are trying out. I have to listen to her books though because I’m a slow reader and her books are so long lol. Right now I am on chapter three of the book Fourth Wing. It’s pretty good so far. Lea’s waiting until I get about halfway through before she starts reading whatever comic I pick out for her. She reads fast so she will probably finish the comic before I even get through the book. That’s okay, it’s a fun thing we are trying! I am having trouble picking out which comic I want her to read. Superman: For All Seasons? Superman: Birthright? All Star Superman? Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow?! I DON’T KNOW. Once I figure it out I will let you all know lol.

When we came home we unloaded the car and I had to shovel the driveway again. It’s so much fun! If you couldn’t sense the sarcasm, here I am to tell you it was, in fact, not fun. It was too windy and too cold lol but I cleared our driveway! Now, Mr. O is asleep and I am writing this. Once I’m finished I’ll turn the book back on and do the dishes. It was a great week filled with lots of laughter and love! I hope you all had a great week too.
