Hello readers. Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you!
Before we start I wanted to ask: what do you think of my new photo for the Weekly Reviews?! I had Grok (the AI chatbot on X.com) make it for me. I think it looks cool, and kind of similar to my The Region Life logo. Anyway, let’s continue with the post lol.
It started on Monday. Mr. O and I were at my moms. While we were there I was browsing through my dads library and, as it turns out, we have the same taste in books. He had so many books. He has huge bookshelves that covered the whole wall horizontally and almost vertically. I was browsing, but I was also looking for two books I know he has somewhere in that house. The Odyssey and The Iliad. Both written by Homer (NOT Simpson. The ancient Greek poet). Unfortunately, I did not find either book. I did, however, walk away with a few books that were also on my amazon list! So I was able to cross those off lol.

On Tuesday it was New Years Eve. I worked and thankfully got off early. Lea and I had plans to hang out just the two of us and play games. However, Lea was not feeling well at all that week, so we settled for binge-watching the Sopranos instead. We also called it an early night. We both went to bed around 10pm (which is fine for us. We haven’t gone out for NYE in YEARS). If you ask me I’d say it was a perfect end to 2024.
Wednesday was New Years day. We started 2025 with another steam train video lol. Mr. O is very much obsessed. Later on in the afternoon Mr. O and I went to my moms to celebrate the holiday with some family. Lea stayed home since she wasn’t feeling well still. It was a good time with lots of good food. Mr. O was the center of attention of course. He usually doesn’t mind it but he seemed to be overwhelmed that day. It was a loud environment and I think he was becoming overstimulated. As soon as we got in the car I turned music on softly and we drove home in peace. He relaxed right away. Then, when we arrived home, he played all by himself and calmed down. Eventually he went straight to sleep. It was another long, great day.
On Thursday I listened to a really interesting episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. He had on James Fox who is a “UFO investigator and documentary filmmaker”. I’m quoting from the episode summary, of course. I believe it was almost three hours long, so there was a lot of information. All I can say is it was thought-provoking. Later in the evening Lea and I watched a few episodes of The Sopranos again, and then I watched the latest Creature Commandos episode. Of course, it was another sad story about how one of the “creature’s” came to be. The season finale is coming up and I am so pumped for it!
On Friday I woke up and did my normal routine. Then I noticed our driveway was covered in a tiny blanket of snow, so I went outside to shovel and lay down some salt. Once I finished and came inside I saw that Mr. O was still sleeping, so I was able to get some reading in before work started. Lately I’ve been skimming from a few books at a time. One is called Orthodox Christianity – The History and Canonical Structure of the Orthodox Church Volume 1. It’s really interesting to me. It has so much information though, so I have been reading it very slowly and only a few pages at a time so I can soak in some of the information.
Later on, in the afternoon, I listened to a really great interview Michael Knowles (from The Daily Wire) conducted with an ex-KGB spy. It was such a great insight into how spy’s get recruited, what kind of person you have to be, and what their life is like. To me it seems like a lonely and cold life. I don’t think I would like it at all. In the end it seemed as if this man was able to have a happier ending then most in that field. One quote I remember him saying is “You can’t regret what you don’t know.” I don’t know why that stuck with me but I figured I should share it. I wrote it in my notes for this post, but there really isn’t a reason to it. I just thought it was a good quote. You can listen to the interview HERE.
On Friday night I played with Mr. O basically all night. We played with his trains, his cars, and then we wrestled on the floor lol. He really did a number on me. He climbed all over me and then started jumping up and down on my back. It was so much fun. Once he went to bed I was finally able to workout in my own HOME GYM. Finally! It’s so nice not having to leave my house to get a good lift in.

It doesn’t look like much, but it’s enough. On Saturday morning Mr. O and I played upstairs in his play room, and a little bit in our room, while we listened to music and folded laundry. On Saturday afternoon I, sadly, had to go to a wake. A friend of mine from high school lost her mother recently and I wanted to be there for her. If you can, please send some prayers their way. In the evening, a different friend and I drove into Chicago for a Bulls game. It wasn’t just any Bulls game though. That night they were honoring Derrick Rose because of his retirement from the NBA. It was an awesome night! When we first arrived at the United Center the lines were wrapping around the building from every side. It was also freezing outside but thankfully once they opened the doors we were able to get inside fairly quick. Of course, they were selling DRose jerseys. I never got one so I thought “tonight is my chance!” Unfortunately, they were selling them for over three hundred dollars. INSANE money grab from Jerry Reinsdorf. What else should I have expected though? That man is all about money. He doesn’t care about winning or building a great organization for the fans to enjoy. He’s just going to rely on nostalgia from Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose forever. Although this is all true, I can’t leave out that I was nostalgia-baited. I do not regret it though! I bought this cool DRose Bulls jersey they used to wear on Christmas Day when they would play. Check it out!

How sick is this?! I should mention it wasn’t three hundred or more dollars. Somehow, on our way out of the store, I saw this jersey and decided to take a look. To my surprise it was way, way cheaper than the others. So of course I had to buy it! I told Lea I’m going to wear this on Christmas Day next year lol and probably the year after that as well. Once we finished shopping and looking around at all the Derrick Rose accolades and pictures (see below)

We went up to our floor and ate at this (surprisingly) nice restaurant called the Stadium Club. I say “surprisingly” because it’s a random bar/buffet inside the United Center on the second floor and it also looks like a fancy restaurant. It was a strange mixture of three different types of restaurants, but the food was really, really good. We definitely took advantage of the “all you can eat”. The rest of the game was fun too. There were many nice tributes to DRose and the Bulls won! It’s not like it means anything though. They still stink.
On Sunday morning I went grocery shopping and bought some salt for the driveway so there’s no ice buildup. I also bought a seed spreader to put the salt in. It helps shoot it everywhere and spreads it out better than I can. I got the idea from a TikTok Lea sent me the other day lol. That app isn’t completely useless I guess. Once I came home, shot the salt around outside, and put Mr. O down for his midday nap, I went downstairs to workout again. Gosh I love having a little gym in my basement. I’m still so excited about it. After I finished that up I made some eggs, pancakes and toast, then showered and watched the Bears game. It was the last game of the season against their archrivals, the Green Bay Packers (puke). Normally, the Packers kick the Bears a$% twice a year, every year. However this year they only beat us once. That’s right! The Bears won today against the Packers. It was glorious. Still, it doesn’t mean much since it’s the Bears last game and the Packers are still heading the playoffs lol.
Later on I picked up some dinner and watched This is Us with Lea and Mr. O. It was a fun, quiet evening at home, and another really great week. I hope you all had a great week as well!
Peter
