Hello, readers! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.
It started on Monday, and if I had to guess then how my week would go I would have probably assumed it was going to stink. Here’s why: I had to go into Chicago for work and I made the very dumb mistake, a rookie mistake, actually (which I am not), and did not check the weather before I left home.
When I arrived at the train station it was pouring rain. Thankfully I had my umbrella! Oh wait, it’s broken…I took it anyway in the hopes it wouldn’t be too windy so I could use it. Again, I have no clue what I was thinking! The wind was horrible, the rain was horrible, and all I had for my 15 minute walk was a broken umbrella that was flipping inside out every time a gust of wind blew by lol. Finally, I was able to walk into my building and dry off a bit before work. The rest of the day was fine. Very busy!
On my way back to the train the rain had stopped so there was no need for my useless umbrella. However, they don’t call it the “windy city” for no reason. The wind was still alive and well. Blowing things around and even moving some people left and right as we all made our way to our destinations. One thing I did appreciate though was the Christmas lights and decorations everywhere. It looks so pretty in the night and makes my walk in the cold a little more bearable.
While I was waiting for the train I was able to read some of your blogs. I enjoyed them all! On Tuesday I was working-from-home and, towards the end of the day, Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starship was doing a test launch. I’ve never watched one of these before so it was really cool. I turned it on and continued working. Just listening in the background because there wasn’t much to see for a while. Then, about forty minutes later, the huge ship took off and it was incredible! It was an exciting few minutes watching it soar into the sky. Watching things like that really brings hope back to me about mankind. It makes me feel like we can achieve anything!
After work I decided to check the weather and saw it was going to snow soon, so I went ahead and salted our driveway to make sure there was no ice! It was a blast (meh). On Wednesday I woke up dreading going into work. I was just not feeling it that day. I did not want to commute at all. Speaking of commuting, I have some professional news to share. My employer has decided to designate me as a remote employee starting in mid-to-late December! I’m not getting my hopes up, I hope it works out this time. I won’t lie though I am a bit excited. Anyway, back to my miserable commute (again). Of course on Tuesday (my WFH day) it didn’t rain or snow at all. The weather saves that for days I have to go downtown. So Wednesday morning was another rough one lol. Broken umbrella, rain, a bit of snow, and tons of wind. Lucky me!
It was another busy day at work but a good podcast always helps it go by a little faster. On that day I turned on Joe Rogan and listened to him talk with Jimmy Corsetti and Dan Richards about lost civilizations, alternative history and archaeology. It was really fascinating and I encourage you all to give it a listen. As I was packing my things to leave the office, I decided to hop on X to see what’s going on in the world. I expected the usual – the worlds on fire, World War 3 is starting, and “Trump is literally Hitler”. That’s not what I found this time though. What I found was a pleasant surprise and it also made me laugh pretty loud! So you all know how I’ve been complaining about not being able to watch Bulls basketball, right? Well one of players actually had something to say about it lol. Center Nikola Vucevic posted “Bulls fans in Chicago realizing they can actually watch the game tonight since it’s on ESPN” and underneath his comment was a picture of Vince Vaughn from the movie Wedding Crashers popping a bottle of champagne lol.
It’s nice to know players are active online and know when the fans are frustrated, what they’re frustrated about, and try to make people laugh a bit. I don’t know if that was his intention but it worked on me! Obviously, I did watch a bit of the game that night when I got home. It was nice to actually see my team play. They were not good lol.
On Thursday it actually snowed. I know I said it snowed on Wednesday but those were just flurries mixed in with rain. Thursday is when it really started coming down. Again it was so cold and windy. By then I was used to it though lol. That night I had to shovel and salt the driveway. It’s one of the many perks of being a homeowner! On Friday I ordered my first real camera. I’ve mentioned a couple times in the past that I’d like to get into photography, and Amazon had a really nice camera for photography beginners/bloggers/vloggers on sale so I asked Lea and she said I could buy it (as long as I also buy her something she’s wanted for a while lol). I was really excited and couldn’t wait for it to come in so I could start toying with it. On Friday night Lea wrapped some Christmas gifts while I had Investigation Alien on the TV. Investigation Alien is a new Netflix series from George Knapp. I recommend it to those interested it’s a really cool investigative documentary. We watched the first two episodes and I hope I can watch a few more soon.
On Saturday Lea, Mr. O and I went to our church’s food fest. When I tell you this kid is a celebrity…I mean it! When we walked in it was almost as if the whole festival stopped so everyone could look at Mr. O and he marched in. It was like watching an emperor or a king enter the room. Everyone stopped and said hi to him or smiled at him. It was kind of crazy lol. He had so much fun running around. That kid can do anything he wants at that church (I’m rolling my eyes – FYI). The food was good as always. Later that night my mom and I went to the Bulls game.

They played the Memphis Grizzlies and it was a good game up until the fourth period when the Bulls suddenly remembered they were the Bulls and couldn’t play basketball to save their lives. One funny thing that happened was with the mascot, Benny the Bull. They were showing him on the jumbotron and he was pretending to create food with his “AI machine” for Thanksgiving. He had stuffing, mac n cheese, and other food coming out. Then he wanted a turkey. So he entered “turkey” into his fake little machine and this huge person in a Turkey costume suddenly pops out of nowhere and “knocks out” Benny lol. I swear, as biased as I am, I truly think he is the best mascot in the NBA.
On Sunday I woke up to the sound of Mr. O speaking his gibberish language. I had the monitor on the table next to me and he talks SO LOUD. It’s okay though he actually slept in. It was probably 7am when he woke me up so who knows how long he was up for lol. We hung out, then when he went down for a nap a few hours later I worked out in the basement. Around noon the Bears game started. They were playing the Minnesota Vikings (who are really good!). The Bears actually did not play that bad. Caleb Williams impressed everyone once again. This kid is going to be a superstar. The Bears lost, but they forced overtime and only lost by 3 points. Again, Caleb Williams is too good. He’s the only reason we were in that position in the first place. Just a fun and exciting game.
That’s all for this week, readers! Next weeks update should be pretty fun with Thanksgiving coming up and all. Have a great week and a great holiday!
Peter
