Weekly Review 7

Hello, welcome back to my weekly review where I share my previous week with you! I think that’s a good introduction, don’t you? It rhymes how can it not be good?

On Monday night I finally finished Gilmore Girls. It’s a really good show and I’m glad I watched it. They certainly don’t make television shows like they used to. I’ve talked about this before. A long time ago, actually. Television today (mainly shows on Netflix) are too rushed and have no character or plot development. Everything is thrown at you in such a small amount of time. To keep this short, they stink! Not all 8-episode seasons stink, but most do. Anyway, Gilmore Girls is great and I enjoyed it a lot. Next, we’re going to watch the one episode special A Year in the Life (?). I think that’s what it’s called. It came out a few years ago, and many years after the finale of the show. It’ll be cool to see where the characters are now and to officially finish the series and say goodbye. One thing I thought of after finishing the series is how shows, especially old shows, is like being with your friends.

Whether you’re watching an older show for the first time, or re-watching it for the hundredth time, it feels like you’re hanging out with people you’ve known forever. I don’t know how else to explain it or if it makes sense. But that’s how I feel watching great shows!

Tuesday was boring so let’s skip to Wednesday. Of course the train was late again. Not just late, but almost an hour late! It is totally unacceptable and that is exactly what I wrote in their contact page. I never, ever complain like that but this was insane. Almost an hour behind? Is that a joke?. Apparently, there was a “gas smell” that delayed them because the energy company had to come and inspect the area. Still, it is unacceptable to be that late and provide no update to your passengers. When it finally arrived it was empty – thankfully. I arrived to my office a few minutes late but that’s okay. Since it was the day before Halloween, we had the option to wear our costumes to work. I did not. I don’t have one anyways (just a T-shirt with Mr. Potato Head on it from Toy Story) and I didn’t want to wear it. No one ever dresses up in our office and I am not upset about that lol.

On Thursday morning I woke up from another really strange dream. I say “another” because this has been happening a lot lately. I’m not sure why. I’ve also been seeing shadowy figures as I’m falling asleep or waking up. It’s always when my eyes are a bit hazy so I guess I can chalk it up to that, but I don’t want to lol. Anyways, the dreams and shadow people will have to be for another post! As many of you know, Thursday was Halloween! Lea made some delicious chili and corn bread for us to eat after trick-or-treating. Mr. O, or maybe I should call him Buzz Lightyear, had so much fun! Since he’s so little we just took him to a few houses on our street. He was loving all the kids in their costumes and he especially loved being able to run around freely outside in his costume. He was so happy he even hugged a random neighbor he’s never met before lol He’s never done that!

It was so windy and cold out so we didn’t stay out too long. Eventually we came home and sat inside and occasionally passed out candy. Let me ask my readers a question: what happened to kids on Halloween? They’re all so aggressive lol. We were sitting inside and a few teenage trick or treaters came up to the door. They rang the doorbell but then also started banging on the door. I was thinking “what is this?”. Then they started looking into our house. I then took the bowl and went out there and they just stood there and opened their bags. They didn’t say trick-or-treat or anything. So before giving them any candy I decided to have some fun. I said “What do you say?” and they just gave me a blank stare. It was three teenage boys lol so I repeated it. “What do you say?” and they begrudgingly say “Trick-or-Treat”. Then I gave them their candy lol. I’m sure they made fun of me when they left, but it was fun and I don’t care.

After trick-or-treating ended we turned on Hocus Pocus in the background and hung out and played with Mr. Lightyear.

On Friday I had a day off of work. I actually forgot about it until Thursday, when my boss confirmed I had the day off lol. Thankfully I remembered I had requested it in the beginning of October. In the morning Mr. O and I watched an episode of Frank Walks and then a little bit of Pardon My Take. In the evening, Lea and I finished the most recent episodes of Gilmore Girls. I believe the Netflix series was titled A Year in the Life. It was really good and it was nice to see the characters almost ten years after the series had ended (well, a couple days for us lol but you get it).

On Saturday morning I took a drive into town. I went to this great jewelry store called Albert’s Diamond Jewelers. I went without Lea because every time I take her I somehow leave with a new piece of jewelry for her. This time I went by myself because I needed to get new bands for two of my watches. I’m glad I did because I missed wearing my favorite watch with the blue face. The bands I got are pretty similar to the original ones that had worn out. After I left Albert’s, I went over to this book store called 2nd & Charles. I picked up two comics I had been looking for. I finally found the entire series of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. I already read it but I wanted a hard copy to have in my collection. I also bought one of the DC compact comics/graphic novels. It’s called Batman: Hush. I have no clue what it’s about but the last Batman one I read was really great so I wanted to give it a try.

After I left the bookstore I picked up Portillo’s for me and Lea. I got an Italian beef sandwich with sweet peppers and mozzarella. It was really good. We don’t eat there too often because honestly they find a way to screw up the order every single time, but when we do it’s still pretty good. Okay I can’t let this go. How did they possibly screw up Lea’s order? She didn’t even add anything extra on it. She got a beef and cheddar croissant and they forgot the cheese??? How does that even happen?

On Saturday night we turned on some movies in the background while we played with Mr. O. The first movie that was on was Elf. I hadn’t seen it in ages and it still made me laugh a little bit. The second one that came on was Uncle Buck. My dad used to love that movie and I enjoy it too. It still makes me laugh. After Mr. O went to sleep Lea and I watched the most recent episode of Superman & Lois. It’s the last season and they’re going all out. I can’t wait to see how it ends!

On Sunday we drove an hour into Illinois to join Mr. O’s godparents at the church they’re getting married in next year. It was godparents Sunday there and they invited all of their godchildren to join them. Mr. O had so much fun with the other kids and seeing his godparents. After church we all went to breakfast. Or maybe I should say brunch since we got there later in the morning. Either way, it was delicious and it was really fun. It’s always nice catching up with people you love and I’m a sucker for good breakfast food. When we came home it was time to watch the Bears. It was the most disgusting game I’ve seen them play all season. They looked terrible, they got blown out, and I heard Caleb Williams might have gotten hurt. I don’t know for sure because I turned the game off early since it was upsetting me. If that actually happened the coaching staff needs to be fired right now. The coach himself should be fired right now regardless. This loss was embarrassing. He’s an embarrassment! It’s frustrating being a fan of Chicago sports.

To finish off the night we resumed watching the show This is Us on Netflix. We had paused because I wanted to finally watch Gilmore Girls, so now that I finished that we picked up This is Us again. Great show!
