Weekly Review 6

Hello! Welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you.

On Monday I was heading into downtown Chicago for work. I’m not sure if I mentioned this last week, but my commuter train is building a new station and it’s almost done. It looks really nice to be honest. The only downside is we have such a far walk from our cars to the train platform, but that’s okay. Once I was downtown I finally looked at the time. I didn’t realize how early I was. When I was at the train station I hopped on the first one that showed up after I got there so I assumed it was my normal train!

I had arrived downtown over an hour before my work day began lol so I took my time walking to the office. On my way I saw something being filmed. It was either a television show or a movie on one of the side streets in front of this really nice building. They had cameras, extras, actors, and a huge backdrop all over the blocked off street. Since I had the time, I stood there and watched for a few minutes. It was pretty cool. I’m still not sure what it was, but oh well. I see trailers and cameras on my way to my office every once in a while, so I assume it’s for the local TV shows.

The rest of the day was pretty easy. I always feel refreshed after a long vacation and it really helps my production. On Tuesday I didn’t do too much. After work I vented about the Bulls and re-wrote my home/about page. Check it out! On Wednesday I tuned into part two of this really boring conference at work. It reminded me how much I can’t stand corporate jargon. The conversation feels so forced and awkward. It almost sounds fake. To balance my opinion of this conference out a bit, I did think the third part on Thursday was interesting, but that’s really the only segment that grabbed my attention. Going back to Wednesday…once I finally had enough and turned the conference off I went for a walk with one of my co-workers. I had already eaten lunch but he had ordered food from this cool place around the corner from our building called Luke’s and asked me to go with him.

I vaguely remember going there once seven years ago when I first started working for my current employer. A big group of us new contractors went to lunch and I do remember it being very good. You always know a place is going to be good when it a) is a little hole-in-the-wall crammed between two bigger buildings and b) when they have the checkered tablecloths. I’ll have to order from there again soon! Nothing really happened on Thursday so we can hop right into Friday.

The work day dragged on, as it does when he have almost nothing to do, so once it ended I was thrilled. Me and Mr. O took his little car out for a spin. We’ve been doing twenty minute walks a few evenings a week recently and we have so much fun! We get to see all the neighborhood kids playing outside, and their really nice to Mr. O. Most of them smile and/or wave and say hi to him. It’s really cute. We also get to see all the Halloween decorations. Our neighbors do a really great job getting into the holidays. I thought little Mr. would be afraid of some of these giant skeletons standing in people’s yards, but he is more fascinated with them than anything. I doubt he would want to get closer though lol .

When we came back home Lea and I had ordered dinner from this restaurant called Aurelio’s. As always, it was delicious. I ordered the meatball sandwich and it did not disappoint. On Saturday we went to Target as a family and did some shopping. That’s another thing Mr. O loves to do. He loves to people watch and to look at all the toys. Of course we bought him one but we won’t let him have it until Christmas time! On our way home we grabbed some ice cream from Culver’s. It’s been a really unhealthy weekend for me.

Finally, Sunday. The day I have been looking forward to, but also dreading because of the Bears game. They usually play at noon every Sunday but this time they played at 3:30 in the afternoon. So while I was waiting for the game to start I decided I needed to cut the grass. I started cutting without the bag on the back of the mower, which cut my time down a lot. I was moving really fast! Once I was done I freshened up and had lunch. Before I knew it, it was game time. It was a bad game all around for both teams really. No one scored a touchdown until the second half of the game. Washington kept scoring off of field goals. Finally, within the last two minutes of the game the Bears had a fantastic drive and scored to take the lead. All was well. There was 2 seconds left in the game, Washington had the ball, and Jayden Daniels threw a hail mary into the endzone. The Bears defense juggled the ball. It went off of one guys hands, to another, to another, then suddenly it popped into the hands of one of Washingtons receivers IN THE ENDZONE! Which gave them the win off of a crazy A$% play. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

It was also the most Bears thing ever.

Peter.
