Hi, welcome to my weekly review, where I share my previous week with you!
For this issue we are going to start on Tuesday night. It was a long day and I can’t say why. Not because I don’t know, but because it’s not my business to say. However, I can still say it was a long and tiring day. By the time I returned home I did nothing but watch the Mets take the lead against the Phillies in the first round of the playoffs. Then I passed out in my bed lol. This is so interesting, right?
I didn’t think I could be more tired than I was the night before but Wednesday morning proved me wrong. I decided to sleep in a catch a later train into the city. I usually hop on the 6:56am but on this day I decided to catch the 7:44am. Both Mr. O and I were able to sleep in a little bit, then we continued our normal morning routine. I took him to my moms and headed to the train station. Typically, when I take the 7:44 train I get to work three to five minutes late. It’s not a big deal at all. At least in my mind it’s not because when I take my normal train at 6:56 I’m in the office thirty to forty minutes early so…whatever!
Anyways, I’m standing there waiting for the 7:44 train. Waiting…waiting…waiting…forever. It’s now ten past, then twenty past and the train is still not here. The train is always late, but they’re never this late. They always have an excuse too. Most of the time it’s dumb, but this time I guess it was good enough. On the way to our station the train hit a deer. That’s why they were so late, which caused me to be fifteen to twenty minutes late to work. It’s okay though I let my boss know way ahead of time that I was going to be late. What a morning!
The ride home was much better. They were on time, no deer or other animals were murdered, and it was a peaceful ride up until we arrived at my stop and the impatient people behind me started yelling and freaking out because the door wouldn’t open to let us off. If they had waited an extra ten seconds they would have seen the conductor using his key to open our door because the buttons to open this door didn’t work. It was very annoying lol.
When I came home and hopped on social media I learned the Mets had won the series and are now advancing to the next round! I don’t really care that much but it’s fun to root for a good team. Unfortunately, I missed the game since they played in the middle of the day but that’s okay.
Now Thursday was an interesting day. First, the train didn’t show up on time. It SHOWED UP EARLY. What?! I thought to myself “am I dreaming?”. Not only did it show up early, but it was also empty! This is too good to be true I thought. I’m going to have a good day I said to myself naively. Well, good things don’t last. About twenty to thirty minutes after I got to the office we were apparently “held hostage” I guess you could say. A group of protesters surrounded our building and linked arms with the pipes they had in their sleeves so they would be harder to move. I don’t know what they were protesting. It was all very muffled from the nineteenth floor. The building sent out an email to each department advising us not to go outside and that if we needed to leave or enter we’d be escorted by police through a different entrance. They locked all the doors to our building thankfully. It wasn’t scary, really. I’m not just saying that either. They were peacefully sitting/standing outside the entrances. More than anything it was just an annoyance and inconvenience to us all. Here is a tip to anyone wanting to protest: Don’t inconvenience people because then we won’t care what you have to say.
By noon they had left and it was lunch time. I took a little stroll down the street with a couple of my co-workers so they could pick up their lunches they had ordered. I usually bring my own lunch so I just went to stretch my legs and hang out for a few minutes. It was a beautiful day! Later that night I was finally able to write my DCU Updates post. I’ve been waiting for so long but I just wanted that one last casting decision to be announced. I’m so glad I could erase all of that information from my notes lol. There’s so much more space now.
On Friday morning I woke up early and did some cleaning around the house. It was pretty relaxing if I’m being honest. It was quiet in the house and quiet outside. Very peaceful. Soon after I finished Mr. O woke up and we ate breakfast together and hung out until I started work. Again, we got off early and I was able to run a few errands. One of them being a trip to the grocery store where I had an interesting conversation with the cashier. As she was scanning the ground beef she looked at me and said “You don’t think this is that fake meat they’ve been trying to get us to eat, do you?” I believed I knew she was talking about but I wasn’t sure so I just said “Well, I wasn’t thinking that until you just said it” lol. Thankfully she knew I was joking and not being a jerk. For real though I hope its not!
Later that night I took Mr. O for a walk. It was beautiful outside. He “drove” his little blue car as I pushed him around the neighborhood. We stopped and looked at everyone’s Halloween decorations. My little guy wasn’t scared at all. He would point and laugh at all the big scary creatures lol. It was fun but it was getting dark way too fast. So we had to cut the walk short around the twenty minute mark.
On Saturday morning we watched Ms. Rachel’s Halloween episode. New songs, new costumes, more learning. It was a good episode. It was so good, in fact, it had Mr. O up and dancing bright and early lol. He even put his milk down to clap! After Ms. Rachel we turned on ESPN College Gameday, where they preview the college football games for the weekend. First we watched ESPN, which has Pat McAfee on it, who is a pretty unique individual lol. Very high energy I don’t know where it comes from. Mr. O absolutely loves him. Pat was up on his chair on the TV singing, dancing, making people laugh, and in our house Mr. O was copying his dance moves and screaming and laughing. He loved it!
Then towards the afternoon we turned on the Barstool Sports college gameday stream to see what they were up to. It was fun, but not being a huge fan of college football made me lose interest after the pre game shows were done lol. So I turned on the MLB playoffs and played with my boy for hours. Once again, we went on a walk. It was a great Saturday.
On Sunday the Bears played the Jaguars in London, UK. So that meant the Bears game started at 8:30am central time. It was weird having them play so early, but it was also nice to get it out of the way. It was a must-win game for the Bears. The Jaguars are not a good team and the Bears need to stack up wins before their schedule becomes more difficult. I told Mr. O the night before he had to be up by 8 so I could put him in his jersey because the last two games he wore it they won. He knew how important it was but apparently, he didn’t care. Mr. O slept through the beginning of the game! How rude. Finally, he woke up and I put his jersey on and carried him downstairs. Now if you want proof that his jersey is lucky, listen to this. Before he woke up and came downstairs in it, the Bears were not playing well. They were losing. Ten minutes after Mr. O came downstairs they scored. Then they scored again….and again…and again…and again. That’s right they had 5 touchdowns. They played so well! We were so excited. What a way to start our Sunday! The Bears won and now I didn’t have to worry about it the rest of the day.
The rest of the day was nice. Lea made cinnamon roles, my cousin stopped by to see us on her way back to IU, and my grandma stopped by shortly after that to say hello and drop off some food she had made. Then, I made dinner and Lea and I binged Gilmore Girls. It was a quiet evening. Just how we like it.
