Hello and good morning! Welcome to my weekly review – where I share my previous week with you.
It started on Monday. Bright (not really) and early at 4am. I did my normal morning routine before work and then I had to wake up the baby to take him to my moms. After all of that I hopped on the train and rode into Chicago. It was a beautiful fall day. The air was crisp and cool. It felt really great. The city was beautiful!
We can skip over my workday. Nothing notable happened lol. After I picked up Mr. O on my way home from work, we stopped and picked up food from this place called Buona Beef. They specialize in Italian beef among other delicious foods. Lea and I didn’t feel like making dinner that night so we decided to pick something up. It was totally worth it!
Later Monday night I watched the first episode of DC Studios The Penguin. It was REALLY good. Way better than I thought it was going to be. It doesn’t take place in the main DCU you hear me talk so much about though. This would be considered an “elseworlds” project. Meaning it’s a DC Studios production but not in their main movie and television universe with the story they are telling there. The Penguin takes place in Matt Reeve’s The Batman (starring Robert Pattinson) universe. The show takes place a few weeks after the events of the movie and I think it’s going to be a mob/crime drama. It was awesome. It’s on Max/HBO if anyone wants to check it out.
On Wednesday the Chicago White Sox broke a record and I wish I could tell you it was a good one. See the picture below:

Yes, you read that right. They are now the proud holders of the “all-time worst MLB record in the Modern Era”. Great job, Jerry! Can’t wait for you to make a mockery of the Bulls organization too. What a clown.
On Thursday there was even worse news for Chicago Bulls/sports fans. Well, I guess it can be happy news too. I’m happy for him. Derrick Rose (the youngest MVP in NBA history, who played for the Bulls as their number one overall pick years ago and would have likely won the Bulls a few championships if he didn’t get injured) announced his retirement. See below:

DRose gave us fans so many great memories. It was a very exciting time to be a Bulls fan. He brought basketball back to the city of Chicago. Derrick appears to be a very good person and I’m very happy for him for wanting to take care of his body and spend more time with his family. He has been in the league a very long time and since that first devastating injury he has continued to get hurt. However, that never, ever stopped him from competing. One time, when he was playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves, he scored 50 points. This was after many, many injuries too. He’s a true fighter and great role model for young athletes to look up to. I read (listened) to his book I’ll Show You and after learning about his life and where he came from (Chicago, but it was a rough upbringing) I couldn’t help but be inspired. It’s a really great book, and he has one heck of a story. So again, congratulations to Derrick Rose. Enjoy your retirement! I encourage my readers who are interested to look up his highlights on YouTube. You won’t be disappointed.
On Friday I got off work early. Management has been doing that a lot recently on Fridays. I’m not sure why but I’m not complaining. It’s nice to get off 60 or 90 minutes early. I get to spend more time with my family. On Friday night I FINALLY went to the gym. It was nice to actually lift weights for once, and it was especially nice to have the energy and motivation to do it. I will say though it’s now two days later and I am still extremely sore. It’s a good feeling though! I have missed it.
When Saturday morning rolled around Mr. O and I went to breakfast with his godfather Demetri and another friend we grew up in our church with who was back in town. We went to this nice breakfast spot called Sophia’s and ate really good. Mr. O put away two whole pancakes, a few crackers and a piece of toast lol. He eats a lot. He’s a growing boy! The conversation was nice and Mr. O enjoyed spending time with his godfather. After breakfast the little guy and I went over to my moms to take care of her dog while she was away. We stayed for about an hour and I let Mr. O and the dog play together. It was so cute!
When we finally arrived home I put the little man down for a nap and turned on the new WWE (wrestling) documentary on Netflix. I think it’s called Mr. McMahon? I’m not sure and I don’t feel like checking lol but it’s really good. It’s cool to see the inside of that world. Although it sucks to here about the scandals Mr. McMahon is and has been apart of. I need to watch the next two episodes before I jump to any conclusions. Beside that it was a nice evening. Lea had worked all day Saturday at this event they had, so when she came home she was a bit tired. It was nice for us all to just chill. It was gloomy and rainy outside and Mr. O was playing with his toys on the floor while Lea and I binged Gilmore Girls. I started watching it on my own and it’s actually pretty good. Lea said if I watch it she would likely watch The Sopranos with me (which I’ve been begging her to do for a long time!). Hopefully she follows through with it. Maybe she will now since I’m calling her out in front of all my readers. I’ll let you know.
Finally, Sunday arrived. I had planned to wake up early and take Mr. O to church with me, but he woke up a little rough so we ended up not going unfortunately. I’ve been trying to go and wanting to take him but he is at the age where he is such a handful when we go out lol. He runs and screams (happily) everywhere we go. Anyways, we didn’t go to church. We did wear our Bears jerseys while watching Ms. Rachel though! We wore them for the game too, obviously…

The Bears won today and I am so happy! I think it’s due to Mr. O wearing his jersey because I’ve concluded mine don’t help…like at all. A large part of their success over the Rams is how they played. Caleb Williams looked great and defense really stepped up once again to save the day. It was a fun and exciting game and it gives me lots of hope for the future of the team.
Well, that is my weekly review. I hope you enjoyed it!
