Hi everyone! It’s been a little while since I’ve been active on here. Don’t worry it’s not you, it’s me. I’ve been distant lately and I apologize. There’s just been a lot going on between work, parenting, having no energy and our entire household catching a quick head-cold.
There were a couple things that I wanted to talk about today. First, the Chicago Bears. As many of you know I am a Bears fan. Over the last two years I’ve been really enjoying football in general, but I specifically love the Bears.
The NFL has partnered with MAX (HBO) and puts out a great show called Hard Knocks. They pick a different team for every pre-season, season, and off-season. This pre-season, with the Bears drafting Caleb Williams (the number 1 overall pick in the NFL draft), Hard Knocks decided to feature the Bears throughout their pre-season schedule. It was so incredibly cool to get a behind the scenes look at a team you really love.
Throughout the series we learned about our rookie quarterback and his unlimited potential. We also were given an inside look at how the general manager does his job which, if I’m being honest, does not look as fun as it sounds. Cutting people from the roster looked miserable! Overall it was a really great series for the Bears. They went undefeated in their pre-season games and even won their very first game of the season against the Tennessee Titans. The win was brought on by the special teams and the defense. The offense still needs to figure their stuff out.
Caleb Williams did not play well. He knows it and he was very humble after the game during an interview he gave before he headed to the locker room. To paraphrase, he basically said that he did not play how he wanted, he has a lot to learn and promises to get better. I believe him and I think he will. Once he gets comfortable with the huge change the NFL brings he will be an incredible asset to this team. I have very high hopes for the rest of the season. It is also not lost on me that, last season, when I wore my Brian Urlacher jersey, the Bears did not do very well and would lose a lot. However, I wore my Mike Ditka jersey for the first game of this season and the Bears came back and won. So I believe I played a part in their victory as well and I will continue wearing the Ditka jersey for every single game!
Next I wanted to discuss the Bulls briefly. Over the summer there were many changes I did not discuss on here. Mainly because the organization as a whole has been irritating me since the end of last season. I won’t even get started on the owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, who SUCKS. HE’S A TERRIBLE OWNER AND IS RUINING BOTH THE BULLS AND THE WHITE SOX. HE NEEDS TO SELL BOTH TEAMS. HE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO CHICAGO SPORTS! Sorry, I just can’t help myself.
As I was saying, there many changes during the NBA offseason. One specific change I wanted to talk about was DeMar DeRozan leaving the Bulls. Before I begin I just want to say DeMar is an incredible player and helped the Bulls out so much more than any other player has in years. He especially helped develop a few of the younger guys on the roster and they are turning into really impressive basketball players. DeMar is now in Sacramento playing for the Kings and he will be missed in Chicago. With that being said I think it’s a good thing he’s gone. It’s obviously not personal (I don’t know him personally), but he plays one-on-one too much. His “iso” play really slowed down the offense, and one thing I noticed when he was hurt last season and missed a few games was Zach LaVine really shined. He played so much better than normal and I think with DeMar gone, Zach is going to play really, really well this season. Unfortunately, the Bulls have screwed up their relationship with him, so in my opinion I believe he’s going to play at an All-Star-level, make the All-Star Team, boost his trade capital and leave the Bulls. I don’t blame him, but it’s just SO BULLS to screw something like that up. That’s just my prediction.
Lastly, I think I found a new hobby I would be interested in, and could potentially use it as content on here. Of course, this is an outside hobby that I thought of right when summer ends, but I think I can still keep up with it (meaning I’ll start it next summer lol). Last year I bought a telescope through my employer. I know that sounds weird but let me explain. The bank I work for gives you points occasionally, and you can use it to shop at their employee store and they have a bunch of interesting things. I used the “money” I had on a telescope and, to be honest, it’s a pretty decent one too. Way better than I expected from there.
So my idea for a new hobby is Astronomy photography (Astrological photography? I don’t know, call it what you want). On Amazon I found this cool Bluetooth camera that is made for putting on the lenses on telescopes, and it can connect to your phone and you can take pictures through it. I think it’s really cool. I love the sky and I like astronomy (not enough to study it, but maybe someday I will get to doing that lol). I think it’s a cool idea and I really want to try it out. Hopefully I can sooner rather than later!
I have some fun plans for this weekend and I can’t wait to tell you all about them. I will try to take pictures!
Peter
